If you really want to get into this kinda stuff, here are some tips.
    1. LEARN THE COLOR WHEEL. Learning about colors will improve your art tremendously. It will also save you a lot of paint. For example, yellow and purple are opposite colors, so they will look the best together. BUT, don’t mix them, or else you will get brown. Same goes for other colors too, like green and orange, and red and blue.
    2. Brush techniques, there are more of them than you splattering paint and sloshing around your brush.
    3. Learn from other artist, it will help you with inspiration and creativity.
You can learn lots of things from RUclips, so don’t try and get into some sort of art class yet.

The thing about abstract painings being sold for really high prices is that the painters are actually good artists, who have an understanding of structure and composition, but choose to exaggerate their pieces to an abstract level. To them it's a choice rather than a lack of coordonation, which is why they sell for so much. There's usually no money in wasting canvas if you don't have the ability to produce a cohesive piece above all.
    Good luck though.

Actually also throwing paint on canvas is art, and the more time you spend on details in abstract art the less it will look like abstract and what people don't understand is, as fast as you can see some figures or shapes in an "abstract" art, it is not abstract anymore. And yes, the foundations and meaning is very important but many abstract artists had no artistic schools and actually just did art because it made them feel good and also because they just didn't know how to draw well otherwise. Yes I also studied art and abstract art is a very interesting thing mostly when it came out it was more like an experiment with paint, how the canvas can behave with color and no big meaning at all.

While not for me, (artist myself and just as a viewer) there's big differences in multiple things here vs 'professional' abstract. (Now I don't know or follow this person so I don't know if it's really meant as serious content or satire, but I'm going off assumption of serious content)
He at least got the initial idea right with abstract- until the "making it look like stars thing". Abstract is changing the form so it's barely if at all recognizable as an object/the same object. (In this case the huge rubberband ball) Non-objective is the 'throw paint on canvas' type paintings that tend to get lumped in with abstract (they're meant to hold no visible connection to the original object, if there's an original object at all).
The 'professional' types tend to seem more professional or at least visually appealing because they're paying attention to a bunch of concepts (color schemes, values and tones, forms and lines, etc) while also (sometimes) throwing paint on a canvas, and making necessary adjustments as needed.
Just tossing paint on layer after layer just because causes the messy (in an unappealing way) look that artists trying the style for the first time/those who don't know what to pay attention to.
Same idea behind asking athletes to try different sports they don't usually do- might have the same core abilities (strength, endurance, etc) but completely different skills. Personally why I don't do much of any kind of abstraction type works (cubism and the others included) I'm much more interested and invested in realism type pieces (unless they're like concept works for movies or projects)

He's not saying he's gonna be Picasso. He's trying a trend and he's having fun. What's wrong with that? And the type of art he's making is abstract art. He wasn't trying to draw a actual portrait of the ball. You said you spent time making smooth lines and gradients. That's not abstract art though.

@@downuprincon888 See that’s problem nowadays. A trend. A bandwagon. Something people make fuss about then forgets them to jump on something hot. What a joke this generation is.

I swear to god since i was like 5 ive always wanted to just buy a canvas and slash paint on it, then come up with some fake backround like "i was in a very dark time, and this shows how society treats people with mental health and wealth problems. Its all yours, for 500 thousand dollars. Please buy to show support." I could get rich.

The so called "vortex" legit looked as though they forced a smurf to come on a dark canvas.

Tbh this is becoming a NFT kind of problem, I love abstract art but alot of people are doing it for the money now and because of that I see abstract art differently and it makes me sad
