Jon: I want more ASAMs! 10 feet to Jon's right: Shelves with dozens of unclaimed ASAMs he hasn't taken yet. Ah, never change with the old Perception 1, Jon...
In fairness to Jon, those are Jake's sensors. From a purely RP perspective, you're _supposed_ to get them via other sources, and doing so will set him on a collision course with more of the new content this insanely ambitious mod has added. If I were recording a playthrough for entertainment purposes, I'd have probably left them, too.
@@alexpage4355if you are making a video for entertainment purposes then it would probably not be a good use of your time to spend 10 hours collecting chalk because watching someone collect chalk is not particularly entertaining.
@@romanw6636 Who said he had to spend 10 hours? He'll go there, meet the new people, get the quest, maybe collect a couple times if he just happens to find what he needs, while doing other things, and move on.
*Very* slight spoilers....
Eventually, he'll learn how to build all the ASAMs he needs, rendering the whole thing quite moot. (And I might be misremembering, but I think a few of of the places Jake drags you to along the way _also_ have boxes of sensors that _don't_ already belong to someone you're teaming up with, further helping to plug the gap.)
@@romanw6636 That's a bit misguided to say, only because "collecting chalk" in this instance is continuing forward with the questline and immersing yourself with the new content most people haven't seen yet, which in my opinion has more entertainment value then settlement building.
@@romanw6636 And if you're trying to make an argument then structuring that argument around a ridiculous strawman that has nothing to do with said argument is not particularly smart of you.
If it's Jon's kind of town I assume that means it's built in an ancient Roman or Greek style and populated entirely by egg cartons.
That or the greatest city in the UK; Milton Keynes😂
Ave true to John!!!
I hear sweet dreams are made there.
@@AnesidoraAstonI mean, who am I to disagree?
Hopefully without the lead pipes this time but might not have a choice xp
I deeply enjoyed that "fatigue" showed up on Jon's screen immediately upon discovering the first bickering neighbors. How relatable.
The raiders in the junkyard are the guys you just negotiated with in the hostage situation, if you killed them they wouldnt be there
Sounds boring to me. Where's the fun events if you just kill them all?
I love how with Jon giving him different headwear, Jake now has a *captain's hat* that got dented stopping a bullet. That must be one heck of a solid weave.
This mod turns Fallout 4 in a much more engaging RPG. At least in the early parts of town. You have reasons to go places.
It reminds me of State of Decay, a zombie game where going out to find supplies to maintain/expand your settlement is the main game loop.
I've always wanted a more expanded version of that, State Of Decay was always held back by lack of budget and jankiness.
@tortoiseoflegends4466, State of Decay 2 is such a fun game! Didn't really see too much jankiness in it.
This should have been part of the Minute men faction
@@tortoiseoflegends4466 tbh one of my favorite parts of state of decay was the jankyness, except for that time my car fell through the world that sucked lol
I love that instead of just giving you radiant quests, they link a settlement to a quest, for example the Abernathy farm. They put the asam in the place where that quest takes place and has you "Ask the locals about the raiders" which gives you the Abernathy quest which is far more natural than "Another settlement needs your aid"
Sim Settlements is an astoundingly good mod. You’re making me want to play again.
new favourite subtitled opening; "good afternoon lace jumping on John this is very a true dirt"
I always find that interesting about John. He's got some sort of random perk that gives him perception 10 after certain conditions are met, but his perception stat is 1.
Kind of like Idiot Savant but for perception. Idiot Observant 😂
My headcanon is that "tear down expert" would allow you to say cruel things to Sturges about his mechanical engineering; maybe needle him about why he can't hack basic terminals...
Just don't talk to Sturges about his origins...
@@lelanternoscope3691what wing of the institute is that terminal in? I read about it, but don’t think I’ve ever found it.
@@okonkwojones Unfortunately, there is no terminal about it. You have to kill Sturges to know he has a synth component.
The voice acting, storyline, and writing in this mod are fantastic. I hope these guys get hired in at Bethesda
They could absolutely use more than 4 voice actors for their games. They may have splurged on a little more acting talent recently, but I can't get over how Skyrim's cumulative voice acting cast could likely have fit into a single minivan.
I honestly hope not because it keeps them free to do what they want and with the time and quality they want
@@CarefulCrow Oh come on, be fair. It would take a bus to fit the voice cast of Skyrim. Oblivion, that you could fit into a minivan.
@@CarefulCrowTo be fair, they spent the voice acting budget on Camoran, Martin and the Emperor. That's 3 voice actors! Wes Johnson had to be punched really hard to do all the female voice lines!
@@CarefulCrow4 had so many voice actors compared to 3 or nv where its like seven people
So glad to see more of this! Between this and starfield, I'm going to be a happy boy for quite a while!
Jon those raiders at the junk yard looked like they were the raiders who took your people hostage and you bribed, think they just got stuck on their pathfinding away.
The voice acting and story is really something special
You know, my favourite part of many MATN videos is finding out what RUclips's captions have butchered "Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, I'm John and this is Many A True Nerd" into this time...
I mean he does have a funny voice
Jon, I don't know when you will record next week's episode, but I want to save you a lot of trouble. There are several boxes of 20 asams in Jake's workshop, which are not marked as owned, that you can take. West Everett is meant for when THOSE run out, and the asams you get out there respawn on a regular basis, though I'm not sure how long that takes.
Jon! Said it last video but you must have missed if you go back to the guys workshop in Concorde and pick up any boxes with Robco on them, each one will have 20 asam sensors in it you can get about 140 from there alone :)
"Where do you think you're going *Mr.* Radstag *Doe*?!"
Lol
glad i wasn't the only one tickled by that
Mama Murphy guarding the town is my favorite part.
Oblivion, Xcom II, TOTW, Starfield and this! Thank you!
This mod needs the option to build one-way roads. Jon would abuse the hell out of it.
"Mister radstag doe..." Perfect.
"This is lovely"
~half broken open walls and shattered windows~
Well...
I think Jon would benefit from that one mod which allows everything in sanctuary to be deleted so he can build on a proper clean slate
Um, no, that mod is not compatible with a bunch of other mods, including Sim Settlements, and it might even break save files. Sim Settlements comes with its own systems for cleaning settlements that do a much better job than that mod anyway.
Ah! Jon True Nerd, the Kevin McCloud of videogame real estate! And now I would love a mini-series sending-up the pretentious property shows, where Jon takes us on a guided tour of the finest residences for the Protagonist who just needs to have it all!
Woop Woop, Sunday fallout night with Jon
Raiders can attack over the stream in the back of the Sanctuary, be careful.
Jon; respectfully, when you shoot your 10mm please aim 😂
Shhh, wherre's the fun in that?
Sturgess was actually brewing up a bath full of crystal meth.
Looks like the mayor's back in town. 😄
Im holding off on watching the starfield vids while i play though for the first time, and these have been absolutely fantastic to watch in the meantime as Jon uncovers this story and new mechanics, hes really in for a ride this mod is great.
A heads up Jon, there's several boxes of ASAM sensors in Jake's shop you can nick without going to the estates and build up other settlements (like the drive-in).
Shhhhh, that wouldn't be very entertaining, at least not nearly as entertaining as Jon trying to clear out West Everett Estates, using a knife and a pipe pistol. :)
A fallout video uploaded on my 40th birthday, best day ever! (Aside from being on the beaches of Florida, of course😁) Thank you, Jon, for all you do!
Happy birthday
Happy birthday
I like this. I’m going to download this once I have a tv.
As someone who only really played Sim Settlements 1 (and even then not really cause I used the leader system) wow this one is amazing. Makes me wanna swap it out and start a new playthrough
SS2 really is something special. It's worth starting a new playthrough for.
There is one advantage that SS1 has over SS2, shops aren't locked behind a series of quests. Other than that one gripe, SS2 is definitely worth playing.
love this series already and can’t wait for more. it’s always nice watching you play Fo4, especially with your commentary.
16:25
That is probably the most British Jon has ever sounded.
So glad he plays this! Ive been playing the Sim Settlements Mods since release, all parts.
Theres tons of great and voice acted Fallout 3-4 Mods Jon would enjoy imho
Prost & Cheers from the Bavarian Alps
I’m a ‘build everything myself’ kind of player, but I’m getting into this series
thanks for existing matn ❤🎉 this is awesome starfield MORE fallout hell yeah
"Hold still while I keep on hammering A for a minute."
Bethesda is SO LUCKY they have a modding community that literally works harder than they do.
"Maybe keep an eye on this person with the skull in their house" Jon their name, as you failed to notice when you glanced past their bed, is MORDOR MCDEATH
I love your videos man, keep em coming
Huh. Now that I've seen the end of this story, these early scenes hit differently.
"Where do you think you're going, Mister Radstag Doe?" Um.... ....no, no nevermind, that's on brand. Nevermind. Carry on.
Admittedly, this is an interesting mod... great to see how far the mod has come since the original Sim Settlements! And it's enough content now to make an actual series out of!
Yeah I heard that and went ummm.
I know it's probably partly over exposure, but I am finding this plotline so much more engaging that Greston Parvey and his endless cavalcade of settlements that have called for aid. No ridiculous "we've just met, but you're General material", and something that feels like a grand plan (one might say, a Grand Design, ahem-hem) worth seeking out all the scrap, and risking life and limb for. I mean what do you get sent to Olivia for in base game? A necklace, sure with sentimental value, but what kind of person asks a stranger, who is clearly willing to aid others who really need it, to fight to the bottom of a raider base for that? It just feels so utterly unbelievable. Eh, like I say, may just be over-exposure compared to a fresh perspective, either way, a hugely impressive piece of modding!
There should be loads of free Asam sensors in Jakes workshop.
The legendary radroach only spawns after a certain level
They even made vault boy animations for quests. It's awesome.
Even in a playthrough all about building settlements, Jon can't be asked to care about the minutemen. Fascinating. I quite like the minutemen. They want self governing communities who band together for defence. Far and away the best choice in the game.
Even though it doesn't matter, as no matter what ye do, raiders will always get the settlers for that one story mission. (Part of the problem is with settlement defence, enemies don't just come from the bridge with Sanctuary, think if I remember right on the spawn points for enemies during settlement attacks one is, well actually next to the bridge on the Sanctuary side, from the direction of Vault 111 and then right behind one of the destroyed houses up the hill, the one that is directly right from a house that is still together.)
So focusing all defence, in one area is not a great idea sadly. And this can very much apply for every settlement. Might see one very obvious entry point and ye may be right to some extent, but it's not the only point.
You are right. You can also get attacked by raiders through the gap in the hedge next to the house with the basement. So it's better to get the turrets set up all around. With a wall all around you can force them to go around to where you have turrets, but even then in some settlements the raiders just spawn inside the settlement and the wall doesn't matter.
@@Lucifer_26 Yeah think in normal FO4 kinda end up in a situation where either you try to do some clever lil' trap thing in the middle of a settlement for the enemies that just so happen to spawn in one place where you can't even build walls to keep anything out or just a bunch of turrets in that one spot. Though with SS2 there is one plot that helps out with that in my opinion and I use it for that pretty much all the time.
41:40 I *always* put the turrets on top of the pillars (and car park roofs), it looks better and gives them a better position. So now it just looks wrong to see them placed elsewhere.
This is genuinely more engaging than Starfield
Agreed. By far.
as someone who actually enjoys manual building, the ASAMs make me feel like a luddite.
I'm diggin' this series, man.
😁
Loving this series
A hint for building material. Mama murphy is 18 strength
11:33 it’s called a lofted bed to free up floor space, you see them all the time in dormitories usually with a desk underneath.
Mr radstag doe... yes that makes total sense Jon.
Its funny how the ideal Bethesda experience rarley originates from Bethesda.
“Blood and bullets… always happy to kill.” I think I know why Mayor Bob lost the election.
Love the serie and the mod. Little tip: There are boxes with asams in jakes workshop.
I believe defense needs to be equal or greater than water + food to be considered good enough. Not sure if that's changed by the mod, though.
Jon if I'm remembering right the defense is same as vanilla, def should equal water+food+power
Btw as others have said a ton of free asams in Jakes shop in concord might want to give it a good look over
Well Jon's just persuaded me to install FO4 again.
Clearly Jon doesn't know where the enemy spawn points are around Sanctuary Hills.
Enjoying the hell out of this mod play through Jon! Been watching since I was in middle school when you did your kill everything run of Fallout New Vegas. Keep up the great work!!!
After reading Jake's terminal I'm now curious if anything happens if you rock up to him while wearing the silver shroud costume.
This is a lovely looking mod 😊
Shops/traders will also start selling ASAMs, so a little trip around to the diner & Trashcan Carla could yield some more sensors as well.
I realize that this would be questionably canon-appropriate; but I'd like to see a Mr. "Fox" show up with an offer for the local super-mayor esquire; that you could accept definitely without alarming consequences.
"tear down [an] expert" sounds like the goal of half the comments on the Internet
27:54 Mr Radstag Doe.... Mr... Doe... Jon, you know what a doe is, right???
Molotov the raiders? Given the location I'd use the Fatman which is found there to blow them up.
Hate to break it to you, you could've killed the raiders without losing anyone. The "I fucked realization" the raiders do right before I wipe them out is perfect
Umm, Jon, the phrase "Mr. Radstag Doe" ☝😐.... oh, never mind, it must be a sign of the times.
fantastic and exciting series!
i would love to see a fallout 4 mod that Jon inspired, seems like he loves this game, i bet he has a lot of ideas to make it even better.
I had lots of crashed to desktop and a quest broke that I couldn't fix while I was in chapter 2. I've started another attempt because it was great until then.
did you try fixing it with the holotape?
@@oddmerlin9797 By that point I was a bit confused as well. I had a bunch of tapes and I couldn't figure out what they did. I'm a slow learner, so a restart worked better for me.
@@neil2796 ah, well. for future reference the City Manager 2078 Holotape has stuff to fix quests. it also lets you to set yourself to a specific quest if you wanna get to where you were
so glad for another fallout series! only reason I don't watch the starfield playthrough is so that I can play it fresh, without the glitches...unfortunately i have a bit of a sound bug thing, bleh.
quick question, are you playing the chap 2 & 3 parts or just the first chapter?
I think this series started specifically because of the release of chapter 3, so I'd wager he's playing through the whole mod.
this series is making me want to replay fallout 4, yeesh
is this just basically Jon's House Flipper... but in Fallout 4? Oh man buckle up everyone
“Lets get some revenge on those flipping raiders!” Oh my god jon have you learned nothing from the last of us 2-
wait wait wait YOU CAN USE THAT HOLOTAPE FROM YOUR PIPBOY!???
This mod alone has gotten me interested in playing Fallout 4 again with the simple purpose of rebuilding the wasteland. Just mods to increase settlement size and adding more structures, and the only quests I care about are helping the minutement until they give me mortars.
You need to download more buildings!
5:25 I also learn people's names by peeking at the name written on their underwear. I don't have to worry about awkwardly asking their name again later, either. Just take another peek if I forget. It's more comfortable for everyone that way.
For defense you should normally need as much as food and water combined to be realtively safe from raiders.
"mr. radstag doe"
Dear god bob is from the fallout show
Jake honestly kinda reminds me of Arthur Morgan.
sim settlements 2 is just as good as some of the official dlc. my next fallout 4 playthrough will be sim settlements 2. i've been meaning to play it for quite a while but there are so many extra bits that i've been too overwhelmed to get started.
In New England, we pronounce Concord as Kon-kerd. Most non-NE Americans don't get it right either.
"I built too much Residential and not enough Industrial".
More Sim Settlements please
I was sure that was a guaranteed legendary rad roach. I played that dungeon the other day and there were 2 in there.
It’s common for at least one to be legendary, but far from guaranteed. I’ve had several runs without any of them spawning as legendary.
I never really understand why Jon keeps banking that one crit he has to the end of the world in survival mode. I use them all the time, the meter will fill itself up, it's not like it'll be gone forever. Saves a lot of bullets and hassle, although 10 mm is plentiful. Of course, to each their own play style.
Wanna know how to pronounce the swedish letter ä? Its pretty much the way Jon says Mayor…. Määär :)
Plz do at least 5 episodes this is too good
