S.F. Bay Halibut Fishing 5/1/22

Our first Halibut fishing trip of the year. Our daughter was a hog, wanting all the fish. Giving a tip on the rig I use, I'm sure most folks use the same.
A good family day on the water.

Do you prefer going out to the right or left when you launch at loch lommond? I’m looking to try hali fishing off my kayak for the first time from lommond

It depends on the time of year. Early spring South Bay hold more halibut, and as the water warms up and less fresh water flows in to the bay they start showing up in San Pablo. I would think there’s some fish in the shallow flats along the channel. Just watch out for the areas of no fishing around the islands as you leave the harbor.
