My mom had a 280zx when i was a kid....this is the most beautiful and amazing build of this car i have ever seen....there is so much creativity put into cars to wich they can become works of art
Very nice to see a build with a clear design vision that not only restricted to body and interior, but flows right through into the engine bay as well, brilliant Z.
Awesome job my man. I had a white 240Z about 15 years ago. Not a bit of rust and body was as straight as a nuns underwear. Always wanted to do something like this, just never did. For your commitment I say CONGRATS.
A plexiglass hood woulda been even more badass with neon green lighting. Not knocking your build...in fact it’s the best I’ve ever seen. Just a supplemental idea.
The body-shell seemed as rotten as possible. You seemed to need to throw 90% of everything away just to get the form factor. A real Lazarus project. You used it as a blank canvas for an astonishing reimagining of the original 70s sports coupe into a racing car. Amazing work!
Thats called buuld with heart and puttinh a soul into dedication to make something from 5hit to Wonder and example of gorgeousness.... Very clean work there!!
Love all Z cars and have had privilege of owning 5. Still undecided on this 1. Reminds me of rx7 a bit. Awesome looking ride although my opinion I don't care for rear and wheels. Happy to see your vision complete! Love these cars and thanks for sharing. Well done overall.
Oh, my - you did very well taking on such a rust bucket and a sweet engine installation (esp' like the split charge cooler)... but the body-kit and wheel/tyre package is very much down to personal preference, to put it politely ;-)
I bet it took months upon months and I hope it’s very gratifying to drive and have. As clean as the clear coat came out I’m sure it was cut and buffed but when it comes to black, the most I’ll ever do is nib sand but on a job like that I’d let it cure and re-clear it and avoid having to detail a black build like that. I do love the retro/modern builds, I can see the love put into it from a mile away. I would love to collaborate on a build with anyone off RUclips if I had the chance!
Beautiful car and great job on it but nearly 20 minutes of photos and not a single video clip? I commend you if you watched this thing to the end with jumping to the end.
Get rid of the stickers all over it. Looks way better without them. Nice work and definitely more skill in putting something back together than I have!
This build was amazing! My only qualm is that I feel like they killed some of the beauty of the OEM body lines with that rear end; it's just a bit too much for my tastes. Aside from that everything else was tasteful and very well done. Thx for sharing!
nothing wrong with a fat ass, but my issue was how far those rear wheels stuck out. That's what seemed to throw it off for me. But I definitely understand what you mean.
I don't get the haters who will never do anything so awesome.. My friend, the details and mechanicals of your build are fantastic! That the most beautiful, sexy, sick rear end suspension and subframe cradle!! What subframe is that? Did that come from a Z? i noticed the absence of the old mustache bar holding the back of the differential? Your body styling is cool, aggressive and you did an amazing job of it. I personally like a more sleeper look, but I totally appreciate the work you've done.. And I really appreciate you sharing with us. A couple of quiestions please, cause i've looked at SPL web site to try to find some of the componenets and cant' find 240z: Is that a different subframe? Which car? Is the rear suspension kit then also from a different car? What diameter wheels? Wonder if it would be possible to convert the front macpherson strut to a muti link, or upper and lower set up? The variable rate dampners with controller are sick! Also from SPL? I love that you went from macpherson strut rear to multi-link uppper and lower...So nice! please some details. I know its expensive, but I'm at a place in life to do it...once anyway. Many thanks
If you ever plan on making more than 800whp you should look into CJM’s VR head bolt Conversion. I know a lot of guys are having trouble keeping the heads from lifting at big power.
Great build, But you could've shortened the video by about 5 minutes by removing some of the pics. Also not a fan of the stretched tires on the rear, just doesn't look right to me, But it's your build, and as long as you like it, that's all that matters.
Nice build. Shame you kinda skipped over the interior as I’d like to see everything installed and your layout etc. That said, I’m starting my 6th Z restomod but will be my first Fairlady (took 3 yrs to find it abroad) and have my hands full. So just doing my build list now. Interesting choices. Curious how tough or easy it was to retro fit the VQ37VHR into a 240z? What about all the extra sensors needed and such (hence me wanting more inside pics) or did you just grab all the wiring from the VQ car where you got the engine from? If it’s a crate motor - can you share where you got it from or if a donor car - which model? I don’t see you replying to others so won’t hold my breath as I can research and find out myself I suppose. But curious too which trans you used and couldn’t tell what you did for the driveshaft and rear? Stock? I’ve seen more driveshafts implode with LS small block conversions as ppl think these are drag cars. z cars are roadsters made for road racing, not the drag strip! so glad to see you keeping this somewhat tame but am sure it hauls ass. 👍🏻 nice job.
Hey that engine is not for a 240 z I know they could have a v 8 straight engine, But this one looks more like the 300 tt or a infinity engine still twin turbo i mean big turbos, keep up the good work and thank you for sharing
Well, I gave you the benefit of doubt on the asshole severity ! Ford the only brand I steer clear of, but I do have 5 mopars among others in my stable. I didn't claim it had a hemi, but I loved it's handling ! However, it would get up around 150 shimmying, on the weekends, back and forth from college.
MoralConflict Are you thinking about the 280zx becuase they are ugly and fat but the regular 280z is an s30 with the same body as the 240z and same but 400cc bigger engine, how can a regular 280z be slow and ugly when they have the exact same body as a 240z and a bit more power ??
Did you do a full media or glass bead blast before you painted or is it just a float coat. I don't doubt you got a lot of rust out but something tells me you didn't get it all. Either way. Beautiful job on the car. Engine swap looks amazing.
What did you use to put thouse seats in cause I have that car and I'm having a hard time installing bucket seats cause they hit the door when they close

The rear subframe is that s13 with a long nose r200? This car definitely deserve more than a slideshow. Total end cost 80 to a hundred grand is my guess.
The green on the engine is hypnotic! I absolutely love that color on this build!
My mom had a 280zx when i was a kid....this is the most beautiful and amazing build of this car i have ever seen....there is so much creativity put into cars to wich they can become works of art
Finally one of these videos with nice music and not obnoxious junk
You did a titanic job and eventually you made a real MASTERPIECE. It is simply unbelievable vehicle!!!
Very nice to see a build with a clear design vision that not only restricted to body and interior, but flows right through into the engine bay as well, brilliant Z.

My 1970 240z looks just like this, would’ve never thought of building it this way.
the whole time im watching this video im just praying they repaint the engine bay hahah
A plexiglass hood woulda been even more badass with neon green lighting. Not knocking your build...in fact it’s the best I’ve ever seen. Just a supplemental idea.

i love watching this rebuild over and over .... my favorite .... wish i had money i make it even better
I have a car just like it I just need the money for it and help to take it apart oh and a garage to keep it while is getting worked on
this is so much cooler cause you put the vq in there instead of normal stuff people swap with
That is one hell of a build love the fairlady z. I would liked to see the car running and driving.
Thats called buuld with heart and puttinh a soul into dedication to make something from 5hit to Wonder and example of gorgeousness....
Very clean work there!!
Takes a lot of live and devotion to bring these old cars back but its always worth it.
Man that turned out so super sweet.ignore the haters there just mad their not the ones behind the wheel.👍👍
I want this car so badly, it just looks so good, well done

My buddy had a 240z with a 6 pack. We took it up to 170mph and when we got back to my house, the engine was still cold.
I am I in awe of the talent that some men posess
Oh, my - you did very well taking on such a rust bucket and a sweet engine installation (esp' like the split charge cooler)... but the body-kit and wheel/tyre package is very much down to personal preference, to put it politely ;-)
GordoWG1 WG1 this
I would probably run semi slicks if it was mine but still, it looks awesome !
One of the nicest Import builds I’ve seen.
When the new z engine combines with the old generation Z now that’s a fun combo
If I restored a 240z that’s how I would want it to look. Please post a video it tearing up the streets or track.
I bet it took months upon months and I hope it’s very gratifying to drive and have. Car is simply amazing! Would love to see a parts list on this!
I would give my 1st born for a Datsun 280z. Lol I have no kids. All the best Shaun of NYC
Love everything about that car you guys have built, only thing is I wish it had a hood...
I got the FEVER baby! Grest job Doug!
The builders are masters of the best kind....awesome car but would be nice to hear it run...
Beautiful car and great job on it but nearly 20 minutes of photos and not a single video clip? I commend you if you watched this thing to the end with jumping to the end.
Well done man. Mustve been satisfiying. Thr end result💪
Quelle réalisation impressionnante, une véritable oeuvre d'art, BRAVO !!!
WITH THAT ENGINE THAT CAR IS A REAL KITE 🚘🚘🚘🚘
Get rid of the stickers all over it. Looks way better without them. Nice work and definitely more skill in putting something back together than I have!
Beautiful trailer queen you have there.
Ini baru tontonan,, keren,, otomotif

改めてこの手の動画見てるが240ZはあってもS30は殆ど見かけないな。
Once rebuilded these cars are awesome👍😀
Wow! Nice work and feally like the colors. I build racing quadcopters, and always use this color combo on them. Thanks for the upload.
Amazing workmanship
Killer job. Like the green accents 🏁
Man that rebuild looks mean asf
What a beautiful build!

I love all z cars, My love go straight for the 300zx 1990-1996
Like the plates on that Datsun! 👍🏽
If you ever plan on making more than 800whp you should look into CJM’s VR head bolt
Conversion. I know a lot of guys are having trouble keeping the heads from lifting at big power.
I’d be happy if they throw the R35 GTR/engine in the new Z model. It’s a proven reliable platform that has been around for a long time now.
Rez they did
Your not human........ I love it
video could be a whole lot better but damn is that not a dream car? like holy shit what a combo u got there.
Love the work mate

Sweet! Only thing I’m really not a fan of is the lack of bead rolls in the floor pan.
Amazing amazing build very nice very well done the car is beautiful

I just wanna say your music are awesome
Unreal crazy work thing looks amazing 🐲🐲🐲🥛
Wow! Cool Z!
Perfección de auto 👌👌👌👌
Cobra philosophy small car and big, poweful engine... this one is a more lethal approach, small car plus a not so big but very powerful engine
It's nice that you didn't do the typical LS swap.
Travail remarquable !!!!!
Nice vision, Congratulations on a job well done! ...how does it weigh?
Damn that’s beautiful!
I cried a little at the end lol
so the gtr intake do work on the g37s engine just need upper & lower intake
Now Datsun just making Datsun Go. R I P Datsun sports.
Awesome combination!
Just awesome in every way!
* Finds old rusty car *
* builds engine for it *
* fixes rest of the car *
*dies*
Lovely car. For me though, wheels are a bit big.
I miss my 77 280Z !!
You and nobody else.
MoralConflict what exactly makes the 280z such a terrible car?
Ryan Botting Let's face it, until the TT 300zx z32, they were all slow. But they were beautiful cars that were nimble
MoralConflict Are you thinking about the 280zx becuase they are ugly and fat but the regular 280z is an s30 with the same body as the 240z and same but 400cc bigger engine, how can a regular 280z be slow and ugly when they have the exact same body as a 240z and a bit more power ??
Omg i love those rims
Everything has potential
Did you do a full media or glass bead blast before you painted or is it just a float coat. I don't doubt you got a lot of rust out but something tells me you didn't get it all. Either way. Beautiful job on the car. Engine swap looks amazing.
乗りたい!✨
just wow
Perfect and perfect
That VQ looks like VR
Heart &soul..👍
took a F/R to F/F. Not what I would do. Plus it throws of the weight distribution of the well balanced original. Still a nice looking build though
What did you use to put thouse seats in cause I have that car and I'm having a hard time installing bucket seats cause they hit the door when they close
this vs B is for builds 240z :) very cool
A slideshow? Really?

Slide show? Why not....when he havent much time or teleskop to camera ????
I prefer slides in such videos.
Like wtf
What room do you have to talk? Have you done better?

SWEET.
This person must've had a spare VQ37 laying around.
absolutely dope
good!!
I wanna see that Fairlady Z in action!!
The rear subframe is that s13 with a long nose r200? This car definitely deserve more than a slideshow. Total end cost 80 to a hundred grand is my guess.
Such a nice conversion - next time please show running footage, I invested my time watching through the video expecting to see it in the end...
What are those rims! Size? Would they fit on a 2004 Infiniti G35 coupe? They were the most beautiful rims I’ve ever seen
