The Bluffs Restaurant on the Blue Ridge Parkway

In 1949, The Bluffs became the first dining establishment to open on the Blue Ridge Parkway. An instant favorite, it would go on to welcome customers for 61 years. Generations of families came for the fried chicken, ham biscuits, and friendly service.
The restaurant closed in 2010, to the disappointment of Parkway travelers from around the world. During the decade it remained shuttered, the facility fell into severe disrepair. In 2020, extensive renovations were completed thanks to donors who contributed a total of $1 million for the project. We can’t thank them enough for bringing this beloved place back to life!
The Bluffs is slated to reopen in the spring of 2021. The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation now holds a historic lease for The Bluffs, and will continue to accept donations for the upkeep and maintenance of the building.

Loved this place best breakfast on the parkway well at least in the 70s. We went there many times back then. I can not wait to go there again some day.

My group of motorcycle riders, about 15 of us stopped in June of 2021. This was the worst food and service we had on our entire 4-day trip. We got there when they opened on a Saturday morning. Took forever to get waited on and even longer to get our breakfast. Again we were the first ones there. My breakfast was so bad I took 1 bite and returned it. I paid for my coffee and left. Never will I take a group again to this place!
