I completely agree! This is a totally brilliant performance, and incredible in terms of the integrity of the ensemble. I've watched it a number of times, and am deeply moved each viewing.
@@benji7587 I put my headphones on so I could listen to it again and again and again...it is collectively one of the best new arrangement I have heard in a while...everyone shines and what she does there, sooooo contributes...
The tone in the horns is unbelievably clear and sweet, and I’m always floored by how each of Jon’s notes, even at warp speed, feels so beautifully calculated and delicately placed. His musical genius is such a gift to the world.
Jon makes it look so easy and it's far from that. Jon is a quiet storm. So freakin talented. This was a beautiful performance. Loved the purple to Jon. Amethyst *Crown* B Note. Thank You! ♡♡♡
I really hope everyone that watches Colbert realizes that the house band on the late show is actually one of the most talented bands around right now. And they play with just joy...its awesome
I enjoy how this tune builds: Jon at the drum set, the walk down the aisle by the horn players. First the pedal point in the bass, then a very diatonic major scale type line, followed by some "outside" harmonies from the horns thrown in - just enough to color it! Jon Batiste at the keys is always a pleasure to hear, he often plays with surprises in store! Stay Human uses the finest players! Love the lady at the bass - you can tell she is really into the music!
Whenever Jon gets more than 30 seconds to perform I anticipate magic. I'm never disappointed and typically get more than I ever expected. This is simply AWESOME!
This was awesome!!! I highly recommend you guys also listening to the album version of this song. Patrick (the sax player in the middle)’s solo was INCREDIBLE in it!!! I listened to it at least 60 times
I wonder if Jon grew up in New Orleans, he sure has that vibe and the sound. There's such a strong rhythmic style that musicians from there seem to all have.
Love the purity…. A few Weeks before pandemic lockdown….cool kats having fun and being brilliant 💜 thank you for the greatness and inspiration 2 years later 🥰
I experience synesthesia. I wish I could describe what I see (sepcifcially at 2:54), the spectrum of colors that appear that are just so soothing and cathartic. I can specifically describe the visual at the end like watching a creamsicle melt. This is most definitely added to my favorites.
How wonderfully played with such rhythm. And the setting in which it was played was so enchanting the lightning and dynamics added to Jon's bringing forth such a soulful uplifting performance.
Absolutely amazing performance! Jon Batiste is a real artist and it is always a pleasure to see him perform his own materials on the show with the band.
Gorgeous tune. Love all the wonderful harmonies that tickle my ears with the smallest of changes in the horn section. I wish my own knowledge of harmony was so great. This is amazing stuff coming each member of this band throughout the piece. ^-^
This HERE ! Just blew me away! I think I'm in love! The Band was amazing! No wonder this man was getting these Grammys 2022! Well deserved! He just got me HOOK just like that! Wonderful masterpiece!
As beautiful and wonderful as ever. I absolutely love this album. I highly recommend everyone listen to it (and his equally amazing previous albums) if you haven’t done so already. Jon Batiste is a class act and is as talented as they come.
This man surely did learn from Julliard ,how to be at ease with N'Orleons the late of the night. John the Baptist may be the best of all late night experiences. Thank you.
I just don't know how to explain this young man, so talented, beautiful soul humble, it just makes me smile to listen to him sing, and talk. Just love him, may God bless him and his beautiful wife. Healing prayers🙏🙏❤
Bout damn time. you got what you say is a hot damn good band and we rarely get to hear them perform. Wouldn't kill you to let them air out their instruments once a month or so!
Such a talented band!! I’m jealous! 😄. But my son, 🇲🇽 a Berklee grad and trying to make it as a film composer. I have faith he will make it! Thank you for the beautiful music mr batiste!
The double bassist is the soul of the piece! Praise the bass! The soloists are just pure magic. Such a sweet melody to boot too. This fills me up with pure joy and I love it so much.
Maybe it's just me, but this reminds me of the old school blues jam sessions with Billie Holiday, Teddy Wilson, Lester Young, and others where you can hear in the music how much they enjoyed playing together. Just like those songs, this was also about love of music and not competition. Amazing job, well done. Thank you for a lovely experience.
That was the best pre thanksgiving show for me and my mom. It sounded soooooo good in the theater. Everyone should get tickets and actually seem play live. Amazing!!!
I am so sadly removed from my light, yet intense, jazz-loving years, when the heroes I emulated, and in several cases, recorded with, but this music was me in the seventies. I can't help but think Colbert was a genius, in bringing Jon B on to his show as the welcome, yet horrific roll as Colbert's second fiddle. This so reminds me of Sanborn's, or less-offensive, Brecker melodies, in combination with Jon's thankfully having listened to Chuck Leavell's incredbliy inspiring works. All of this, combined with today's production value has thankfully re-introduced me to a genre I'd thought long passed. What a great bit of television genius, this was. Jon should have been the next Herbie, but good for him, for making himself so available to we 99%, who'll never be able to afford $300 concert tickets, let alone the nose-bleed ones, just above both blue, and the white collar criminals of our era. And yes, you/we know who you are.
The epitome of ensemble performance where everyone shines.
Exactly, that's what made this so beautiful to my ears as well.
I completely agree! This is a totally brilliant performance, and incredible in terms of the integrity of the ensemble. I've watched it a number of times, and am deeply moved each viewing.
Because Batiste can lead one hell of an ensemble
No back seats there are no backseats in a real band
Please post more of Jon Batiste and the band. This was really good.
yes do that

Jon just oozes class and cool. The whole band has great feel.
I spy a Patrick Bartley. Big shout out to all the j-music ensemble fam.

@@PatrickBartleyMusic Loved your solo bit! Hope I can catch one of your gigs next time im in NYC!
I'll have to listen more than once, so much to discover in this piece of music. Great, great performance!
Yea, all the subtle changes in the horn section harmonies alone are wonderful.
The tone in the horns is unbelievably clear and sweet, and I’m always floored by how each of Jon’s notes, even at warp speed, feels so beautifully calculated and delicately placed. His musical genius is such a gift to the world.
For the Purple Yoda!
I'll wager that Jon has been an old soul since birth. That was sublime.

Angela Hamlett - this proves a tune with a saxophone 🎷 is a great tune! Thank you, Jon Batiste, Thank you, Prince
@R Gerard I only wish we could have all of that Band's music between those commercial breaks!
Wow...
This is what an education in Julliard gets you.
Jon is a real artist.
Yep, but I'm always a bit sad when I see the low number of views. He and his band are great!
And talent.
Combination of talent and education. The talent gives you the creativity and artistry. The education teaches him professionalism and craftsmanship
@@dinadan2569 I'll bet that's going to change for him now. I'm so glad he's been put into my view with his Grammy win.
Prince would love this. Thank you Jon
Absolutely a treat whenever Jon + the band's performances are posted here
Jon Batiste, simply put, is an incredible talent and a musical genius!
More like "5% talent + genius, 95% dedication + hard work". I challenge you to ask any top musician for a self-assessment :)

One homage here is to Sheila leading the drummers onto the stage in "Sign 'O' the Times."
Oh man, that was sublime. Came here to see Patrick Bartley from J-MUSIC, and I just loved the whole vibe. Amazing.

Jon never disappoints. So much depth of talent. A modern virtuoso and the band shines just as bright in complete synergy. Bravo!!!❤️❤️❤️

Wow! Batiste starts out on the snare, then slides over to to piano for a stellar performance. He's a massive talent.

Their Christmas album is outstanding too. Just fab. (Think it may be 2 years old now. Excellent!)
