- Well here is my maiden and review of the Durafly Ugly Stick V2. The Durafly Ugly Stick V2 is a very stable and economical plane in both battery usage and price. In the way of review she is just that cheap to own and fly but with a few drawbacks but are more than acceptable given the price of around $130 for the plane. As far as a review overall I am very pleased. Plane flies very well and is is quite stable . However the gear is very weak and the livery is duplicated on the underside making orientation confusing at times.

God bless!!
Other than the weak gear this a solid plane!
Covered balsa airframe?
Yep, just ordered mine this morning. Had two ugly sticks by a different manufacturer years ago & loved them.
I plan on installing ZOHD Kopilot in mine for when windy and to have return home for my 68 year old eyes. Plus i have some rechargable nav lights coming soon that will fit the plane nicely.
Saw your old video this morning after I ordered the plane, thought I was a bit delusional seeing the same channel & same plane with an hour ago time stamp until you mentioned you had sold and repurchased the plane.
Take care & enjoy your videos, signing off as, Skinny old guy flys Rc
LOL Thanks for sharing and enjoy your new plane!
Great little plane, i was surprised how easily the gear bent, other than that, great flying and landings...jeff.
Yeah the gear is the planes weak point.
After reading many comments about its weak gear...i would install eflights gear from their 1.4 stick either remove a little paint so glue bonds well before screwing gear down or also install better slightly longer screws that bite into the plywood under the fuses foam..not having this plane i may even decide to add plywood inside or out side of the fuse...foam planes are easy to repair and strengthen no matter how bad they are imo...i crashed many foam planes over last 12 years..i always was able to fix them and make them stronger...
That is the beauty of foam , often easy to reinforce and mod.
That Curb took out my Trojan, along with a lot of Pilot Error lol. Can’t get parts for her so I’m gonna strip anything valuable and hang her on the ceiling of decommission. Maybe I’ll find an ARF to Assemble.
i hate curbs! But today it was such a long rain downpour I had to find an alternate site. none were curb free though!
The club in Franklin NC is getting ready to have combat with this airplane. I think 8 have been purchased so far. 2 if them have been flown so far..... both had the main landing gear ripped off with what I would call normal slightly rough landing on a plush grass field. So you may as well fix it before it breaks because almost nothing is holding the gear on. Flies good though according to those flying it. On the tail wheel the flat spot was wrong and the tail wheel needed to be turned backward to get maximum throw. But it is inexpensive on the plus side. They will wait for the next big event to fly the combat...... I expect a lot of foam pieces.
Plane flies great but the gear is its achilles tendon. combat would be very cool with her and I also expect a lot foam on the ground along with wounded pride! LOL
When i have a touchy plane i add more expo or switch to lower rates...i always setup 3 different rates for each control surface...
Always a good practice.
GREAT review...how do you like the way this one flys compared to the red vmar stick you had? Other than the landing gear which is an easy fix for either model...thanks
It is easier to fly but I have sold each of these planes.
great job I had back in the 80's one look like that but was glo fuel it was a good flyer too going to have to bite the bullet and get one did you have as3x on that receiver or flew it wide open and as you said start with a little less on rates good review 😀🛩👍👍
No I used a simple Lemon rx receiver with no gyro. Rates at 100% over 30% expo.
Should i get this as my first plane
It could be based upon the ease of flight and that it is rather inexpensive. Careful with the gear they can be knocked of pretty easy. But a Tundra would be a better choice if you are set on HobbyKing.
@FatGuyFliesRC thanks but I had two options either the ugly stick or xfly sukhoi su-27 flanker
both good flyers, careful with the long nose on the flanker.
