Interesting. I remember visiting this place as a child, one that it was called Canalave city. In fact, small cruise boats will actually drop you off in the middle of the canal.
Thank you Yoshi. I hope you did not get hurt. I have an update. I start chemo on this Wed March 1. The Dr. Said that it is the least toxic and has the least side effects. Since the cancer has not spread, the can isolate treatment.
Hokkaido is pretty big and the earthquake hit its eastern area but Otaru is on the west side. Fortunately, I heard there wasn't a huge damage in that area.
If a person did not own a car in Japan, would the country as a whole still be accessible by train or are there other methods of getting around? When I visit, I want to start in Tokyo, but also want to see Kyoto, Gifu, etc.
Japan has many trains as well as ferry ships that one can use to travel about the country. What's nice is the many local trains that take you to the smaller more remote cities in the country. Local trains are all over the country. I'm from California in the USA, and we basically have minimal, non-existant train service, and you have to fly and drive everywhere. That's it. I'm retired in Okinawa, and we are the exception, you should consider renting a car here when you visit.. Have a great trip!
Like other people mentioned, you can take trains and/or local busses to get around. If you visit rural areas then it may be a little difficult but Tokyo and Kyoto, don't worry about it. Enjoy your trip!
Dear , I am writing to inquire about your permission to use your video clip. As you may know this is . There was an mistake about inquiry, because I want to use this footage in Otaru, not the video I inquired about last time. With your permission, I'd like to use your footage to introduce the snowy road in Otaru. The length of the video I'd like to use is 4 seconds and It will be broadcasted at 9PM on 20 March 2023. And of course, I'll give you the credit. Thank you for your kind attention and look forward to hearing from you.
Perhaps the cones should have blocked the sidewalk. Hope all are okay. This is nothing to laugh about. And "checking gimbal" aka not film the face of whom just slapped its son. Uuh .. but I saw men help women and that's a relief.

I've never visited in December but I checked on the Internet and learned it snows almost everyday in December.

Most of Japan can be accessed via train. Some obscure places might have things like shuttle buses.
