I play the pre 9/11 whem i was a kid, but it was a pirate disc, i download the game from coolrom 8 years later and it was the post 9/11 version still fun, but with it felt weird for me, then i realize that this was censored, because the cutscene of the plane explosion.
I played both but the pre 9/11 copy (cargo plane exploding), got scratched and stopped working. Years later, I played the post 9/11 one (twin towers joined).
This reminds me of a level in Batman Vengeance that i heard was pulled out at the very last minute. It was i think a level where you controlled the Batwing and Joker unleashed his big Balloons towards a part of Gotham that was rather rundown and Batman would have to blast the empty buildings apart to allow the balloons to run out of gas. For obvious reasons it was cut.

The one thing that my game had, that yours did not, was that upon Electro's defeat on top of the towers there is a cutscene where The Mighty Thor actually makes an appearance. He takes Electro off to the police so Spider-Man can go...meet Mary Jane I think. But that's the origin for the newspaper headline at the end.

Wait ! I play this game on epsxe (ps1 emulator) and its strange because the fall sound effect is still here but in the final mission the cutscene that shows the twin towers is edit so we can't see it !
You also seem to forget that there is a mentioning in a paper saying Thor Saves the Day There was a cut scene with Thor meeting Peter On Top of the World Trade Center but that was cut all together and that's why at the end it says store saves the day because the person who reported about it in a bugle saw the two of them on the rooftop and just naturally thought Thor Save the Day I don't know the cutscene even exist now but there was supposed to be a cut scene of Thor talking with Spider-Man On Top of the World Trade Center I believe pre electro battle
That's not true. No such cutscene exists. I've played the uncensored version, and it's not there. The implication is really clear that the Bugle credited Thor because of the presence of lightening, not because Thor was actually there. The rumor about Thor seems to have originated from the Wikipedia article, and that's not always a reliable source.

To be fair though, there was no evidence that it existed at the time I made that comment though, only rumors (somebody even interviewed one of the people who worked on the game, and that person said he didn't remember any such cutscene). I was at least correct that it's not in any version of the game. It was an exclusive on the website.
I hope the post-9/11 version will become less prominent than the original version if I'm being honest, because the original version definitely seems to be the superior version.
Is this gameplay from a copy of the game, or an emulator? If it's from a physical copy, you should archive it as quickly as possible. History like this needs to be preserved, and shouldn't go to waste. I'd recommend searching tutorials on how to download off of cartridges, they're helpful.
Unfortunately I only have a physical copy of the post 9/11 version, tho I used an emulator to capture footage from both versions because I don't have a capture device for consoles
Is there a way to play the original unedited version of this game? I don't have a PC for emulation but I do have a Windows 11 laptop. I also have a PS3 and PS5 if that's important.
Out of curiosity, aren't there any differences on the disc? Like were they any difference on the disc to determine which copies contain the pre 9/11 content and post 9/11 content?

This version of the game was never released. It was still in production when the attacks happened. Changes were made to the existing game and the original discs were destroyed except some were stolen before they could be destroyed and made it out to the public. That's why all pre 9/11 versions have no artwork or case.
Actually, the game did got released in August. It’s just that when 9/11 happened, activision had to recall all copies of the game on stores so that they could edit out the game before they rereleased it again on October.

That August 26th, 2001 release date was an old place holder date for the videogame. The videogame trailer for it simply said it would be released Fall 2001. Any legit Pre-9/11 version of the videogame never came with the original case, and artwork/booklet because before they were able to be sent out to stores sometime later that year the 9/11 attacks happened, and all copies of the videogame were to be destroyed. Luckily some survived by having to be stolen, and were put out into the wild. That’s how collectors got there hands on some of the discs. There are less then 100 Pre-9/11 videogame discs known to exist in the world making it an extremely rare videogame, and an extremely important piece of videogame history!
I get why they had to change it, but I like “Top of the World” so much better, it sounds so epic and like a final battle.
