They nailed the fact that while he is Spider-man, he is also still a kid. Even with his abilities he still has the natural fears and doubts that kids go through as they grow up.
That's part of why I love Tom Holland's Spider-Man. He actually acts more like a kid. He's the inexperienced Spider-Man that we only saw glimpses of in the other two. He's slowly becoming the hero we know. I would love to see them make ones where he's in college and more experienced.

Exactly what I’m saying but unfortunately people use this as a reason to put his version of Spiderman in the trash
If I recall, Stan Lee wrote Spider- Man to show that a kid didn't have to be a sidekick, he could be a hero too. This scene perfectly captured that. Peter is just a kid, but he rises above that to be the hero his city needs.

In the comics almost all of the Marvel lineup is in or around New York City...in the MCU.....it's pretty much the same thing. So all the heroes are in New York....except Thor & the Guardians.
when he started to panic, it really freaked me out. that is the kind of thing any of us would do for real.

His acting here is REALLY good. You can really feel his fear when he’s panicking and screaming for help
It really hits hard, in a very real way. Even though I wasn't there, I'm sure there were plenty of people after the 9/11 attack or other similar building collapses where people where trapped, just like this.

Unwritten_Zephyr This scene and Gwen’s death were delivered amazingly by Tom and Andrew. One of the only times anything has felt actually real. I love the Raimi Trilogy(even the 3rd Which was meh compared to the others) but I can’t remember a scene in it where it made me feel like this.
What's MCU
Now this is what I like about this part right here, when he's trapped under that rubble screaming for help this show's us he's not invincible like iron man, he's not a patriot like captain America, he's not mighty like thor, or incredible like hulk he's only a kid and just like us he can still get hurt and fear's he's gonna die.
Gio 0397 he is mighty
This scene isn't about showing us a scared kid, it's about showing us he's a kid who can overcome being scared.
He was terrified of dying at first, but he overcame that. He knows he could do it. He is strong and brave boi
He was terrified of dying at first then infinity war.
Delet478 In Infinity War, I was sad when he saw that coming.
I laugh at the thought that Peter's classmates, Michelle, Flash and everyone has no idea how much pain Peter has been through, like they're all mostly enjoying Homecoming at the moment, and Peter's screaming in pain and crying under a building
Oh my word! Yesss! This is so correct. :D

when he screams for help you remember he's just a 15 year that would panic like any of us and thought he was going to die! Talk about character development! it didn't have to have a villain hell bent on destroying the city, i love tobys spiderman but this was amazing too and finally did what the others didnt and remind you not only of Spiderman but of Peter Parker as well
Spider-Man 2 was all about peter Parker, that’s why there was so little Spider-Man scenes. And it did the best job of portraying peter, not this
+Rey it portrayed Peter as an adult though, like every man finding his way. This one reminded you Spiderman is a 15 year old boy to the core still going out risking his life. Toby's Spider-Man to me is what Tom's spiderman will become when he gets older. This one was more true to spiderman as he started a kid. Toby's was more true to him as an adult spiderman.
Rey you must know nothing of spiderman to say spiderman 2 did the best of Peter parker, yeah spiderman 2 was amazing and its my favorite movie but nothing like how peter Parker really is, this one showed the best of peter parker, he is super smart, created web shooters and the webbing himself as you saw in the classroom scene of him making more webs, he is 15 as he is suppose to be as the cartoons and comics, he gets serious when someone he cares about are in danger, he will get scared well here as he is still starting to be spiderman because he is a kid and he is funny and talks and makes jokes as he fights unless its serious moment he would be really serious but yeah. Tom holland did the best spiderman and peter parker, as i love tobeys spiderman, tom holland did the best of peter parker and spiderman as how spiderman and peter parker should be. Almost all of spiderman comics are of him as kid/teenager in high school. Tobeys spiderman was based of adult spiderman like the spiderman cartoon that would show on Disney XD back in the like 2000 or 2004 or something like that. But spiderman has always been a teenage/kid in high school. And spiderman homecoming delivered it perfectly. My favorite will always be spiderman, i have seen literally every single spiderman series and played all of the games and read a lot of his comics. This is how spiderman is done. Maybe he didnt create his suit but i think they did it like that from tony stark so you dont forget he is with the avengers now, the MCU or you know have a connections with iron man and the other heroes, i didnt mind it that much that he didnt create the actual suit because they wanted to have the classic look but different how its made and who made it so it can be different from the pervious movies to bring something new yet still kept it classic and truly to how he is, which i understand but the rest is spot on how he truly is
Rey why can't I find a person who loves both versions of Spiderman ffs
Classroom Productions I love them both.
I love how every iteration of Spider-Man has THAT moment, the moment they really become the hero the city needs. For Tobey it was the train scene, for Tom it was this scene...even Andrew had that kind moment (imo) when he saved the kid from the burning car
Ye exactly :0
Andrew may be my least favourite Spidey actor, but that scene in TASM is one of the absolute most Spider-Man things ever put to film. There's nothing that can take away my love of the train scene, but in my opinion that TASM scene beats it in terms of 'Spider-Man factor' by just a hair.
for me it wasnt the train scene in spiderman 2. ite was when he went inside the burning building without his powers lol

This is spiderman's most vulnerable scene. It shows how he's just a kid, afraid to die under the rubbles. His fear made him so vulnerable,he was practically begging for someone to save him even when he knows there's no one in the area.
Wait till you see no way home
Let's not forget he's in the villain's lair. That would mean Peter's desperately pleading for anyone, including the Vulture's goons to get him out of that rubble.
@@mr.sidecomments9278it would be crazy to see the culture realizing he's just a kid

he's stronger than captain america, and he also have regeneration
He has super strength. That should be easy for him. I don’t know why he was struggling.
White Rice- he’s still new. He doesn’t know his full strength nor is he at full strength. Gotta remember he is still just a kid
Spiderman is Jesus apparently
Spider-Man doesn't have regeneration. It's just he takes hits much less impactful.
A lot of non comic book fans said this was the cheesiest part of the movie. I couldn't disagree more. This is my favorite moment in the entire film and clearly an homage to Amazing Spider-Man #33.
But...it was cheesy. Especially with his face reflected in the water
They still botched the fuck out of it. The reason these scenes work is because whatever is trapping the hero is a metaphor for all the emotional weight they're burdened by, so when they lift it, it implies they've finally gotten over it. The film tried to do that, but failed terribly. I couldn't give a shit, I knew he would escape then go off to fight the Vulture and get his suit back.
This moment could've been the climax of an actual Spider-Man film, not just a scene to be thrown in there for the sake of appeasing fans. Now we will never see it be done justice.
It wouldn't have worked as a climax to anything other than a TV episode.
The scene works fine but the problem is Stark's voiceover. It's really cheesy and in your face.
I mean we saw the reflection and then Peter's expression. Okay. Got it. Thanks.
now they throw that in? Yeesh
Like Sam Raimi's Spider Man didn't have ton of cheesy moments.

Best Spider-Man moment in 14 years. This is who he is. Not invincible, not the strongest, not the most powerful. Spider-Man is supposed to embody the every day man. Someone who has weaknesses and who’s vulnerable. This is why he’s my favorite hero ever. Because he’s just an ordinary kid with a gift and he uses that gift to save the average person.
That's exactly the reason he's my fevorite too. He's an everyday person, just like us. He has bad luck, he's poor, he has bullies to deal with, he's a loner and mostly a kid who's doing something even the strongest of men didn't think at this age. Also, he's a genius and doesn't flaunt it.

You should go watch "the impossible" it was a long time ago but even then, Tom as a child is an incredible actor, his control over his expression of emotion is near perfect. His brothers in the movie are great actors too.
Have you seen his first film the impossible he does incredibly
I mean, I agree, but also thought the length of his dusty scene in Infinity War was unnecessary, and it didn’t make sense to me why it took so long for him to disappear. Same with the “We won, Mr. Stark” scene in Endgame. He’s a good actor, but I felt like he talked a little too much in those scenes.
@@Ben_Kimber Some people turned a while after others, in the case of Peter his spider sense told him that he was in mortal danger moments before he turned to dust, also iirc his regenerative abilities kept him alive a little longer, I mean, obviously his death was prolonged, but at the same time it's quite "justified"
This is the most accurate spider man. A kid who’s scared and turns to help for adults once in a while when they are scared. I like Tobey and Andrew but something about Tom is just so inspiring and real.

I’d say they’re all the most accurate in different ways. But I can understand why Tom’s your favorite. He’s pretty good.

To me it was powerful because it shows that at the end of the day he is a still a 15 year old boy who fears death like the rest of us.
I think the thing we all love the most is that his first instinct is to call for help - under all the powers and the quips, he's a kid, and he's scared. That moment when he looks into the mask and realizes that bravery isn't the absence of fear, just the will to act in the fact of it.
I really love how Tony's words of "if you're nothing without the suit, then you shouldn't have it" mirrors the moral of "With great power comes great responsibility".

Best. Superhero. Moment. Ever. This made me realise that...wow I am seventeen. AND I AM OLDER THAN THIS KID. He is my hero...was since I was seven.
join the club dude i've always loved spiderman but that started dissapearing for a while thanks to the lack of spiderman movies ( i didn't see the amazing spiderman 2 since everyone hated on it) now i remember as a kid why i used to act like i could climb walls and shoot webs xD
You didn't see TASM2 because everyone hated on it? What the fuck does this mean? To this day, you have yet to see that movie?
Do you let other peoples' opinions dictate what you should or shouldn't watch? I'm not saying that TASM2 was good, but no matter what kind of reviews I saw for that movie, I still went to see it and judge it for myself (and if I didn't want to risk giving my money to a shitty movie, I would've at least torrented it).
He’s 21
Like me I’m 21, you young blood
In this movie he is in highschool. He is fifteen! In real life he is somewhere between 19-21 but not in the movie.
While I'll always miss Tobey Maguire, Tom Holland is a great Actor. I really felt for Peter in this scene, poor kid he went through so much in this movie. And still managed to save the day
Mr skeleton agreed. Although I don’t like the new gadgets and not having uncle Ben like the Maguire movies did, to me Tom makes it work out
Tom Holland really is an incredible actor. This was probably mostly green screen, but he sells it so well. You really feel Peter's panic, pain, etc in this scene. Also, poor Peter Parker.
A hero is not recognized for their strength and powers. It is their heart and soul that makes them a hero. This scene shows what a true hero is.
Yes
This man deserves an Oscar... I'm not just saying that for the meme, I genuinely mean that, this is some a-list shit right here.
This scene made me feel physically sick when I saw it in the cinema, claustrophobic and anxious, it takes a HELL of a convincing actor to get those feelings (especially feelings that strong) across to the audience, and Tom Holland nails it perfectly. Best scene, hands down.
AgentClockWork exactly that scream he lets out at 1:47 automatically gave Tom the crown for me
Yes indeed
Ghost WRLD who hurt you
remember when people were criticizing marvel movies because they had no memorable soundtracks? and then they come out with this Homecoming orchestraic masterpiece.
still nobody remembers this one
Sigrid Thawne you’re absolutely wrong lmao
Daniel Z-V not really, both raimi and webb movies had better soundtracks
Beau van den Boomen I agree with Raimi but not with Webb at all. The only memorable soundtrack scene I cant even recognize is the opening of the second film
@@beauvandenboomen nah not the Webb one
Raimi one just due to pure nostalgia
I LOVED this scene, it really shows the arc of being a hero and being a human at the same time.
Peter is a innocent 15 year old, and toxic Tobey "fans" called Tom's Peter "pathetic" for crying and yelling for help while being stuck under like 10 tons of concrete and rubble, but in reality this is very accurate when in death defying situations like this. Tbh I'd like to see how those "fans" would react if they were in this same situation, bunch of weirdos who don't know how fight-or-flight emotions work.
Right? Their excuses are hilarious like "Why he acts like kids?" "Why he needs web shooters?" "Why he quips during fights?"
@@siddharth_0771 Those people don’t read comics.
@@thefilmwatcher1302 and they say that to others lmao
@@siddharth_0771 They’re conditioned to Tobey’s Peter, who was uber-serious almost the whole time, had dumb organic webbing, and never quipped during fights. They’re conditioned to an inaccurate Spider-Man.

This is the moment when I felt like I was moved. I am still going back to this scene and admit that at some point in our lives, we just gotta have to rely on our own strengths by acknowledging weaknesses to accomplish something. This is Spider-Man. I don't care what others say, this scene maintained the essence of the character.
This is by far the best live action spiderman.
@@Riskofrain527 cut the CAP
@@Riskofrain527 All three Spider-Men are the best imo.

@@tonymata8070 someone besides me who loves them all? impossible
It was the first time in the movie he found value and genuine power within himself and not from anything Tony could give him. He redefined what Spider-Man was supposed to be in this scene.
Imagine being stuck under that much rubble and you have a heightened sense that is telling you that you are dying, your mind is racing and you are screaming for help because you are 15 and scared. But you calm down enough to focus and literally talk yourself into mustering all of your will to save yourself. That’s what Spidey is all about and that’s why he will always be my favorite super hero
R.I.P Steve Ditko. Without you, we would never had this amazing scene.
Him and Stan Lee don't forget Stan
@Velocerbate Yes well it's best to be like the end credits in Spider-Man Far From Home credit them both
@renewer No he wasn't how dare you say such blasphemy that's Bob Kane not Stan Lee
Say what you will, but in two minutes and twenty-six seconds, Tom Holland encapsulated everything that makes Peter Parker the superhero and role-model to people all over the world.
I don't know how anyone can not call him the definitive Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
I really wouldn't call him the definitive Spider Man, since there were other moments that screamed Spider Man, but this movie as of right now is my favourite live action movie purely for this scene alone ( behind spider verse) and Tom Holland as of right now is one of the best actors to play Spider Man.
This scene was quite powerful.
Showing us that Peter is a kid after all
He was 15 after all.
I grew up with Raimi films and hold special place in my heart. I was surprised that i liked Spiderman Homecoming after the mixed bag Amazing Spiderman films, but this scene is the best in the whole film. It perfectly shows Peter's vulnerability and struggle in this scene that i have been missing since Spiderman 2. Peter learning to be capable on his own without the suit. Definitely, one of the best Spiderman moments.
I loved that scene so much, it really shows how peter is just a kid, and seeing him shout and scream for his life when under all that rubble made me cry
too bad they had to rip it off from a comic, while this scene is good, is the only one memorable

This acting for tremendous...I truly felt for him..
The acting is so incredible it makes me kind of uncomfortable. I forget I’m not watching footage of a real child in some sort of disaster situation, like on the news or in a documentary or something. It’s probably the best scene in the movie.
One of, if not THE most motivational scene in any superhero movie.
Unlike other super heroes where they come across godlike, this scene reminded the audience that Spidey at times is a vulnerable teenager. He was up for the test and proved worthy of being Spiderman. Loved this scene.
the perfect scene, to explain why superheroes are great role models. When life throws a building on you, and no one is there to help except yourself. you gotta find the strength to push through it and eventually you can lift up that big ass building!!!
That is the motto I'm gonna live by😂😂😂
Hands down one of the best spiderman scenes ever filmed
They definitely needed Uncle Ben’s words echoing in his head.
Jake Rutigliano Tobey Maguire should portray Ben
I can already hear Uncle Ben saying, "With great power comes great responsibility" before Tony says, "If you're nothing without the suit, then you shouldn't have it."
"I fucked aunt may right in the poon, peter."
That would be too cliche
I'd like to see the Janitor from Scrubs as Uncle Ben!
A lot of people say that the MCU Spider-Man only became a true Spider-Man in NWH, but for me, he already became that in this scene
YES, thats how I feel. Spider boy turned into Spider-Man in this scene. Heck this weighs more than the train Tobey stopped and Tom didnt pass out like Tobey did
I think the best way to put it is Peter became Spider-Man, where he fully embraced Spider-Man, like how Tobey did after Uncle Ben died, and how Andrew did after saving that boy from the car, I like to see that as his moment of embracing, because he went from searching for the man that killed his Uncle Ben to going to save someone's son, that's my opinion anyway. This was MCU's peter's moment and like the other Andrew and Tobey, he moved up in his role, learning new things about his place, throughout FFH and finally NWH, where he learnt everything he need to, Such as the quote all three of them learned, With Great Power Come Great Responsibility
I agree, it's the first time in the movie he finds value in himself and not in anything Tony could give him. Plus he redefines who Spider-Man is in this scene.
He's a kid who's scared. But the thing which makes him Spiderman isn't the bite, it's the fact that he's strong enough (mentally) to be a hero, despite his situation. He's always been my hero UwU
Don’t put the uwu there………just……..why……….just say something like 🕷 ❤️ or something…… *please don’t attack me with a 5 page essay on how whales should not have fins*
@@planetzero7571 ikr I cringed a bit 😭
why the uwu tho
Yep it's the mental strength not physical strength on how you think, that's how he was able to do it anyone would be proud of him for that real talk.
Why were you guys tweaking so hard over an emoticon
Legit shed a tear at this scene, the hopeless helpless emotions are so spot on. And what a way to properly introduce the birth of spiderman, no audience not even super power can save you unless you have the will and spirit. Love it.
This is the moment he became Spider Man
Michael Thompson IKR
You know something that is crazily coincidental for me with this scene is that this one time when I was 5 my family moved into a new house and we were'nt done unpacking but I took a break and started watching Spider-man 2 while my parents were outside doing whatever and I had this Spider-man plushie that was in a box that for some reason was on top of this mountain of boxes and so me being me I climbed to get it but I slipped and fell and the boxes with me. I was being crushed by all these boxes and I could not move and I was barley able to breath. I remember crying and screaming for help but my parents could not hear. I thought I was going to be buried there until I hear the movie play and it was around the part of Aunt May's speech about there being a hero in all of us and that gave me such a burst of adrenaline and confidence that I was able to push off all the boxes. U could not believe my utter shock when I saw this scene in the theatres.

Sam Dinardi your not funny
DAMN STOP
One of the most life inspiring scenes from all MCU !!!
Now people are taking about the Infinity war scene and how shocked they were about how well he played it, but we got to see a little preview of it right here.
It's funny how people forgot that he was only a 15-year-old boy, maybe he had super powers, but mentally he was still just a kid. When he screamed for help, he was not weak, he was terrified of death because he is still only a kid, but he showed "if you fell, rise up"
I loved him freaking out and screaming for help in the beginning plus how he got frightened and started crying in IW knowing and fearing what was gonna happen (u know the scene). Well it's not nice that he's scared like hell and in serious trouble but it was intriguing since those are really rare moments for a superjero movie. How often do they cry for help when they kinda have a reason to do so? Well, we he's still a kid. Who was suddenly thrown in a darker world. Very natural reactions for him and I love that too. Not everyone can be like Capt. America or some other Avenger who tries so hard not to show any weaknesses.
But after both of these, Peter calmed down, found strenght to do something about it or accepting an inevitable fate
to this day, i still get chills from this scene. the music came in at the right time too. a really iconic moment from the comics implemented into film done well. kudos to tom in this. really great acting
This scene made me uncomfortable in the theater and still does. Powerful acting and powerful scene. Almost made me cry. I MIGHT have cried in the theater though.
I love Tom Holland’s acting because it’s so real and enthusiastic
I dont know why purist hate Tom Holland. Like this isnt Spider Man. You do have to remember he was just a teenager who accidently has his powers. He doesnt know how adult life is.
Tom portrayed it perfectly from what is desperation to facing his fears.
tom's acting in this scene was so good, it brought me to tears bc he is my age in the movie and the panic just felt so real

The high-tech suit was important, though. Not only that, but Peter’s relationship with Stark was also highly important throughout their time together. I’m not sure how removing key points of the movies would be a good idea.
Also, you don’t need to capitalize every word. Just the names of nouns, and at the beginning of sentences.
This scene is actually based on " IF THIS BE MY DESTINY " . one of the most iconic comic book moments in spider-man's entire lore .
