The first race with new FOX graphics after 2001-2003 used the same type of graphics. Amazing to think how close Kahne was to joining McMurray/Bayne in the "1st win in 2nd race" club. If Kahne had any rookie luck, he could have a Tony Stewart 1999-esque season.
Chris Kreager Agree on your second comment. But Mcmurray's win shouldn't compare to Bayne's win. Mac's was all driver on a tough track, Bayne's was a crapshoot two car tango plate race
@@cjbuford4536 "superspeedway" results are all little more than crapshoots. They're closer to blind draws from a bucket of random numbers than anything else. I'll never understand how anybody can truly beleive that any component involved even comes close to luck when it comes to winning such a race. The most inbred individual in the Whittaker clan makes more sense rationalizing superspeedway wins as having more to do with skill than luck. Even Derrike Cope managed to be a "winner" on that stage.
Back when broadcasters weren't afraid to voice an opinion contrary to what NASCAR wanted to do (did Bri-guy hush them up? Hmm...) I also like the bottom line graphic during prerace. 2001-2006 remains the best TV package in motorsports history; I'm glad I was there to see that.

It's really too bad they don't race here anymore. I was about 6 years old this race so never truly remember or appreciate this track. But based on the fact I see open seats during NASCAR's prime, it's really not that shocking they left. Just too bad would be a perfect track today I think.
idk still what the heck is that chase system instead of Winston format know what they absolutely added a twist format matter fact they add some bad gimmick points. 2004-07 cool ok thats fine. but now its a piece of garbage why the fck adding stage and playoff?
@@MovieLover1995, some ridiculous thing happened in the TV contract that let NBC do the Daytona 500 in 2002, 2004, and 2006. It is ridiculous in the sense that why have a network broadcast a race, then have it wait 5 months to broadcast its second? By the same token, FOX's last race would be the July race at Daytona.
Tough break for 1. Jimmie Johnson to crash out early of the final race at the rock 2. Dale Jarrett to have the timing belt let loose in the UPS truck 3. Carl Long to go for a wild tumble down the back straightaway in his only race car as that time he had worked a regular job in the sport called a car chief for a craftsmen now camping world truck series team at that time.
GOD I miss the way the sport was. The Series, the Cars, and the racing was good. I miss these days

Hell, if he had any winning luck he'd blow Stewart's 1999 3-win effort out of the water.
I always love reading your comments on these old race videos.

I really loved this '04-06 graphics package
Its crazy that Mcmurray never won in the 42. He was a constant in the top 5 for three straight years from 03-05
Well that isn't entirely true.
this was actually the first nascar race i was alive for
The last race at "The Rock". How sad.

Arguably the best race at Rockingham. Sad to be the last one.
I have never watched a Rockingham race until today. Despite being born in the same year this race was held.

Today this track is slowly rotting away

Almost as much as the playoffs.

4:12 DW criticising the points is rather ironic because he played the system in 1985 to win the Cup while Elliott strolled to 11 race wins
The first Nextel Cup Chase race to air on Fox.
how do you arrive at that?
They’ve been doing NASCAR On FOX since 2001.

First race where they have the drivers stand for the national anthem, something they still do today.
The Rock's NASCAR Cup Series swan song.
