i started watching one piece in 2023, and skipped the opening songs/ending to catch up to the current episode. when i caught up to egghead, i decided to rewatch the series without skipping the songs (op/ed). when this song was being played yesterday, i told my sister that i recognize the voices, especially jaejoong. she said that it's impossible because they disbanded, so i said that it could probably be jyj, but i recognize uknow and max voice in there. then we started doing math in our head, given that wano arc started about three years ago, it's possible that when the pre-timeskip came out, tvxq (dbsk) was still around. probably. but then she said it was avex group or something, i was like? wow must be coincidence. their voices are awefully the same. cool. but then as i watched again today, i do the research on my own, and i was right 🤣 i couldn't have missed jaejoong's voice 😂
This song was released in 2008 they were still a 5 member group. And your sister is right about Avex, because that is the company tohoshinki was sign with (still are as a duo now)

Tohoshinki is howJapanese read 東方神起 while korean read it as Dong Bang Shin Ki and chinese read is as Tong Vfang Xien Qi (how TVXQ come around). Tohoshinki is almost like a different group in Japan. Unlike other korean artist, Tohoshinki is treated as japanese group. They also have different fandom name in Japan and korea.

@@kly_9095the production is entirely from the korean company SM partnering with japanese company avex, so even if it contains lot of japanese production SM entertainment is what created Kpop so Kpop was originated partly from Jpop. So it’s basically Kpop and Jpop at the same time

Can someone explain why a K-POP group did a One Piece opening?
Because they were sooooo popular in Japan and they used to sing in Japanese too. They have 8 studio albums in Korean and 10 studio albums in Japanese
Because they are active in Japan as Tohoshinki and have a large fandom called Big East there.
Because they are respected as much as a Japanese group in Japan and not really seen as that foreign. Ofc being Korean doesn't make u stop from doing anime openings lol. It's just the language. But they did start from bottom in Japan with no to very little popularity unlike EVERY Kpop group today. They worked really hard, released alot of Japanese albums and finally made their way up, and then were (are) respected as if they're a japanese group themselves. So it's no surprise that they sang an opening for one piece. I just hope jaejoong and Junsu or tvxq sing another one piece opening to bring me closure xD
