All Tri-Rail UTDC/Bombardier Cab Cars Ranked Worst to Best in my Opinion

- These are the units I know and appreciate best. Unlike GO Transit, they still run as full units to this very day, there are fewer, so every single horn and all their histories and oddities can be well documented, where as only some GO units can be. And the earlier UTDC Cab Cars, when rebuilt, stayed in their primal form by keeping their "Ogre Eye Cabs". And of course, I have been to South Florida many times and seen them myself.

507s horn has always been amazing then as it does now

Also, I’m pleased to say that Tri Rail is the king of beautiful K5LAs, this K5LAs are a lot better than Coaster K5LAs, just listen to Coaster, Fouled, Raised Letter and K5CA-LS, we are proud that Tri Rail has a lot of beautiful horns 😁😁

Putting 507s k5la at the top of all bombardier cab units shouldn't even be opinion based. Its very factual based on how perfect it sounds. So therefore we can all agree without a question that 507 remains on top.
For my Top 5 favorite for Tri-Rail BBL/UTDC.
1: 501 because it is the most unique of all the Cabcars. And it’s K5LA is one of the best ones I’ve ever heard 😌👌.
2: 505. Horn sounds amazing, that thing is a beast.
3: 502. Stands out with that GO transit K5LA. When almost others of its type cease to exist. May it live on.
4: 509 Really good horn sounds amazing.
5: 507. Pretty cool Horn. it does stand out quite nicely 😊. Also it reminds of some of the old Coaster K5LA’s from early and late 2000’s.
510 wasn’t scrapped we’re currently working on it in NY at an alstom plant not sure if it’s ever going to be operational again because it’s an older style but we’re getting ready to send it out to be put back into service within the next year hopefully
The other Florida Railfans told me that couldn't possibly be true since 510 was damaged beyond repair in the accident that took it out of service. By the way, are there any photos or anything to prove it still exists there in New York?

TRI RAIL 507 is extraordinary! Still my favorite till today!
I finally got two had the privilege of hearing 505
It’s amazing how well they maintain these cab cars.
My Favorite Tri Rail Cab Car Is 501, It Is Interesting Because Of The Wrap It Wore In 1999, And Of It Being Out Of Service For 6 Years. It Also Had An Amazing K5LA In My Opinion.
Edit: 510 technically resurrected and is sidelined now. It was successfully repaired and now being worked on to return to service.
And as for 501, it's safe to say that it definitely far surpasses 504 and 505 in a whole another level. With no comparison.
Where did the clip from 502 come from? I was hoping to do a train simulator mod, but I can't find Hurricane Andy anywhere on youtube.

501 and 877 have a similar story, as both were damaged, and were either retired or stored when they could have easily been repaired.
And then Metrolink rebuilds 865, a unit they caught fire twice, and was basically burnt to a crisp.
Fun Tri-Rail Fact: Tri-Rails Rotems have door controls at every door, instead of just the B end like Metrolink.

Tri-rail 507 is extraordinary! It’s horn is similar to ACE cabcar 3304
The pictures of 504 & 507 are definitely pre-2009 due to the mechanical bells.

In my opinion, I say 504 is the best. In my book, the foulness is what gives it it’s uniqueness.
Ever since this was made, it came back to leading trains, and its horn is no longer fouled. I would now put it a lot higher.

My favorite Tri Rail cab is the 507 surviving because it lived, unlike 510
Top 5 after watching this video:
1. 507, i mean, of course
2. 511, i personally think it has an amazing K5LA before and after the pull chord removal, because it sorta stands out unlike most of the others (i may sound dumb after saying that lmao)
3. 508, theres just something about its K5 that makes me just love it, even though Tri Rail has a bunch of cabcars with a K5 similar to 508
4. 506, its horn is somewhat equivalent to 511, however what sets it apart from 511 or 508 is its dirtiness (at least to me)
5. 504, it has a good horn but it just doesn’t fit well with the rest for some reason

509 is my favorite followed by 501.
I hope Tri-Rail 501 Tri-Rail 503 Tri-Rail 504 and Tri-Rail 509 will return soon once Downtown Miami Extension is ready in mid 2021 and 4 of cab cars will be back on service again as well and 4 cab cars are still here in Miami maintenance train yard and they are still alive and survive from being scrapped like Tri-Rail 510 as well
The 04s of a Cab Car fleet always seem to have interesting horns or historys.

The FRA probably wouldn't have allowed Arrows, with those mesh window coverings. It's quite hard to see out of those in case you need to evacuate, and the whole fleet would have had it.
This may be not related.. but can you do the on Metra (IF YOU ARE WILLING)?
There's way too many Metra units, and I don't fully know the entire fleet.

504 isn't fouled anymore. Just after I made this video, I got some major horn upgrades and now sounds a ton better.

I don't know how high 221 would be. I prefer a lot of others. 4th will probably be one of 202, 212, or 247.

Every single UTDC and Bombardier Cab is awesome. Every single Hyundai Rotem Cab is awful.
