Hello 👋 I am Anna and I’m 11 years old . I was in Bonaire and got my open water scuba diving certificate . Me and my parents are all certified so I travel with them and swim! PADI is my escape from the real world to the magical world. Thank you PADI!stay safe🐙🌊🦑🐠
I am 64 year old male and have always wanted to dive. I am now retired and diving is on my bucket list. Just curious what others might think of someone learning to dive at my age. I am practicing treading water, now we’ll over 10 minutes, and swimming laps in my pool. Also started the e-learning.
Hi there, it's so great to hear you want to learn to dive! We have divers of all ages who decide to get certified. If you'd like to chat to other divers we recommend posting this question to our Divers Around the World Facebook Group. You can join and post on our group here: padi.co/bgj6kn Thanks, PADI
I started diving aged around 45 and am so glad I did it’s amazing! as long as you are reasonably healthy you should be ok, if you pick a good dive centre and discuss honestly with them all the health questions and can sign the paperwork truthfully there should be no problems, my instructor is over 80, dives every day and is as fit as an ox, I just wished I’d started earlier, go for it
I'm 58 and a neophyte diver who has just had my first dive in the Red Sea and have definitely got the bug. I too am wanting to get certified and gain further experience.
Yes I'm going to learn from home and then do my open water dives on my holiday in Thailand end of this year. Great that you can do this as I can spend more time diving on holiday instead of the classroom stuff using up time 😂
I’m thinking of starting the elearning now during quarantine so when this stuff is all over I can go straight to confined water training. Would that be possible?
That is absolutely possible! I have sold the eLearning codes & crew paks then last couple months just for that reason, so they're ready to go soon as we can splash in :) Contact your local PADI center and welcome to your next adventure!
I’m 14 and my dream is to become a marine biologist or a scuba diver, so I really want to get my open water certification for my 15th birthday, but...... COVID. Well I guess there will still be courses as long as it is safe
How deep will I have to dive? I get sinus problems if I go more than 12 feet deep or so. I am aware of pressure equalization which may help. I just don't want to dive very deep to get my certification.
Hi there, thank you for your comment. We recommend using our PADI Dive Shop locator here: www.padi.com/dive-shops/nearby/ Also, do you mean Melbourne, Australia or Melbourne, Florida? We want to make sure we assist you appropriately. Thanks - PADI
You can find all the PADI eLearning courses here: store.padi.com/en-us/courses/ You have to purchase the eLearning course on the web, and then when you go to Thailand you can do the water portions of the course over there. Good luck and enjoy your course! 🤿🫧
Hi there, it's great to hear you're interested in learning to scuba dive! You won't need any adult supervision to take the Open Water Diver course at 15 or 16 years old. You can find out more info on the course here: padi.co/wgvq8 Thanks, PADI
It's great to hear you want to get scuba certified! You can sign up for a PADI Open Water Diver Course either at your local PADI Dive Shop (search for your nearest one at padi.co/37vxt) or you can visit padi.co/tq6bj to start your knowledge development online.
Meanwhile my family having their own steps Step 1: try to convince your parents that scuba diving is not dangerous and is fun Step 2: have friends Step 3: start open water test from padi Step 4: try to not be broke after spending all money for scuba gears Step 5: enjoy Edit: all jokes aside i really want to learn how to scuba dive with padi but still my parents thinks that its too dangerous and could kill me and ofc i need my parents permission because iam still 12 :(
Perhaps they'd be open to letting you go with an instructor when on holiday? That's how I had my first dive when I was 13. Traveled to Egypt and booked dives. The instructors in Egypt, in my experience, will hold you if you're not certified. I also don't think they take you deeper than ten meter (but I could be wrong), which isn't a very dangerous depth. But everyone is different so doing research beforehand is essential. There are absolutely those diving centers that have no business being a diving center, with instructors that should not be allowed to scuba dive. Hey, that was when I was 13. When I was 22, that is when I did the same thing and went diving again - only this time, I decided to get certified as soon as I got back home. I booked the course while at the airport. That was in 2018, and I have circa 200 dives now. (I wasn't very active last year and the year before, so I could've had much more.) I do a few dives every week here in Norway. I had to wait a while, sure, but it was worth it, so I wouldn't worry too much. You can always snorkel and learn more about the oceans and the life forms there until you get older! There are also plenty of other cool things to see, like old wrecks and caves
Hi Ashwin, Thank you for your comment! To work as a PADI Pro, divers need to achieve at least a PADI Divemaster certification, although there may be other independent job opportunities available to qualified Open Water divers. You can learn more about the path to becoming a Divemaster here: padi.co/2st4kx
