🌍 Vacation Planning: UK vs USA - Advanced English Podcast Episode
🎧 Get ready for a travel-themed episode of the Advanced English Podcast! In this episode, hosts Kat Teacher from the USA and Mark Teacher from the UK share their strategies and preferences for planning vacations. This discussion offers valuable insights into different approaches to travel planning, along with a wealth of English vocabulary related to tourism and holiday-making.
🇺🇸 Kat from the US discusses her approach to planning a weekend getaway. She explains how she looks for last-minute deals and prioritizes destinations based on flight prices. Kat prefers direct flights but is open to connecting ones for the right price. She shares her preference for traveling off-season to avoid crowds, staying in boutique hotels or B&Bs, and enjoying local tours and independent exploration while savoring local cuisine.
🇬🇧 Mark from the UK talks about his upcoming 2-week holiday with his family. His planning process involves searching the internet for flights with reasonable prices and minimal layovers. Mark prefers traveling during shoulder seasons to avoid peak tourist times and enjoys staying in all-inclusive resorts where everything is taken care of. He likes the convenience of booking sightseeing tours directly through the resort, allowing for a more relaxed vacation experience.
📚 Throughout the episode, Kat and Mark discuss various terms and phrases related to travel, flights, accommodations, and sightseeing. This episode is perfect for advanced English learners who are interested in travel and looking to expand their vocabulary in this area.

Each time I watch one of your videos, I am tempted to give you five thumbs up. Unfortunately, it's not possible. Your idea of putting American and British English side by side is original and truly fantastic. Keep up the excellent work!
Haha! That is so funny, we're so happy that you're here! Thanks so much for your kind words :)
Keep loving your fun channel 🎉
I find myself learning so much after many years of study. I don't remember having heard of boutique hotels before 👍
My new regimen is to watch an episode each day. I just finished watching this one and it covered a really important topic. There were many, new useful phrases and expressions for me to learn. Whenever I come across something new while watching your podcast, I make sure to write it down in my notebook. I wish I could show it to you!
Kat, I wanted to share that I also love getting a free breakfast when I'm on vacation. And Mark, I always prefer all-inclusive packages so I can sit back and relax 😁
Sending much love to my teachers, Kat and Mark!
Wow, we are so honored to be a part of your daily routine! Hopefully that notebook is chock full of great phrases and you don't run out of space too soon haha, thanks so much again for your kind words and comments!
The Best Chanel for learning English 👏👏👏
Wow thank you so much! ☺️
Thank you guys, I simply love your lessons! I find the system of breaking down a script and explaing little by little very effective. And I love your sympatic and authentic way you explain things, please continue like that.
Allow me one suggestion for improving your viedos: I would like to repeat only your scripts the next days again, since repeating is even more effective to really get stuck in mind. Could you mark the scripts for that you can quickly watch only the scripts? And even repeating the scripts one more time in the end of the video after your explanations, I would really like. 😃 Nice greetings from Leipzig / Germany 👋
Hey Danny thank you so so much for your lovely thanks and feedback! Right now we are actually almost finished working on a big supplemental study pack, it will include exactly what you need: short scripts mp3s to practice just the script, more example sentences for speaking practice (brand new mp3s) and listening exercises as well! We’ll hopefully be finished by Wednesday this week so you can check back in the community for the launch! Thank you again! Please feel free to reach out with more ideas or if you have any questions ☺️

❤ keep loving your channel. And, thanks to you, after many years of study, I find myself learning new things like boutique hotel. I don't remember having heard that before 🤔
Thanks so much for your kind words! We're really glad you like the video!
Thanks for the feedback. The idea of a hard day at work would certainly be a good topic for a future episode. We are also discussing a format with more dialogues, but still figuring out how to present it and structure it.
@@highlevellistening В любом случае, вам удачи и процветание вашему каналу.

Actually, i have a weekend getaway planned in a couple of weeks since i saw good last-minute deal pop up.
Normally, when it comes to vacation planning, i start by making a list of destinations and whittle it down based on flight prices.
I really prefer direct flights, but i 'll definitely book a connecting flight if the price is right.
Booking off-season helps a lot , since i usually want to avoid the crowds during the peak season anyway.
I try to find ones that are reasonably priced without any ridiculous layovers.
Then when it comes to actual sightseeing, i know we can simply book a tour at the front desk, then just sit back , relax , and enjoy ourselves.
Amazing! This is such a great to add your own ideas and stories into our sentences! These will help you remember them so much better! 😁
Kat and Mark, thanks a lot! great work! You're both the best. I love both type of holiday experiences; boutique hotel type for small historic towns and chain, all inclusive hotels, when going to a beach. Both are great. Best wishes.
You're very welcome - and thank you for sharing!
Great job, as always.... 🎉🌟✨

That's the correct spelling yes.
I like to scour the internet for cheap flights!
Thanks a lot for such a solid chunk of knowledge.
I'm catching up on episodes from the previous season:).As for holiday, I'm closer to Kat's choices.I love preparing everything by myself. From selecting a hotel/an apartament to planning trips and sightseeing. I love the idea of signing up for the city tour with the local quide to get the bearings.I fancy exploring local eateries too.
Thanks so much for sharing! That definitely sounds like a fun trip - big cities have so many cool things to see and do (and eat!)

You're very welcome! Thank you for studying with us 💖
I do love your video and it’s really a great help for the learners like me. Sometimes when talking with my friends who are native speakers about my journey after going away on vacations, I tried to describe it in a native tone but still felt it was a little bit hard for me to express well. If I had learned from this video, I think I could have done it much better😅😅Thank you so much ❤❤
You're very welcome! Describing a vacation after you have come back is a great idea for another video, so we might be able to help you even more very soon!
Thank you very much. I’m looking forward to it ❤❤

How do you pick a place to go?
So many places you might want to go.
I will write down all the places that I want to go to.
I heard these three sentences above and my question is:
Will it be fine whether we add “to” after go?
Thank you very much.
Great question!
There's lots of places I wanna go.
There's lots of places I wanna go to.
Both of them sound natural, I think people would definitely say both!
I wanna go to a lot of places: we always need "to" in this sentence.
I wanna go here. I wanna go there. We never add "to" with here/there.
Thanks for your very interesting question!
@@highlevellistening Thank you so much for answering my question that has been confusing me for quite a long time.
Have a nice weekend to you both.😃
