Love the no nonsense tutorial. It is especially helpful that you recommend a specific product that gets the result. It gets so confusing when an artist uses multiple products, multiple brands but never really say which they prefer and get the best results with. When you are a beginner it is frustrating, confusing and expensive. Thank you. Subscribed.
There's a girl on TikTok that literally did Ursula and the tentacles on a cup with clay and epoxy it came out beautiful! I don't know if she got the idea from you or what but she definitely achieved it
What do you use to glue the pieces that have lifted. In the video you mentioned that you would go over that but you never did. Do you use liquid sculpey and rebake or do you use an epoxy glue or something else?
I am new at doing the polymer clay tumblers. I have only experimented with one gnome tumbler so far and learned a lot. One problem I ran into was after I baked it. I also did the white spray paint after it was cooled down. I used Sculpey Original Baking Clay. All the polymer clay was tacky and I tried to let it dry for days and it wasn't happening. The spray paint on just the tumbler dried fine, it was just on the polymer clay where it got sticky. So I had to take paint remover remove all the spray paint from the tumbler and then I cleaned with alcohol. After the tumbler dried, I took some UV Resin and applied all over the clay and used my UV light to harden then I was able to successfully spray paint the tumbler white again without sticky clay. So what did I do wrong?
Keen to watch this but can I give some feedback re lives from Facebook. We can't see the comments you are responding to so when you are answering someone's question we have no idea what was asked and sometimes that context is needed. Perhaps consider reading aloud the comment you are responding to so viewers can know what was asked? Looking forward to go back and watch the rest of the video :-)
I'm just getting started with the 3D Tumblers and I was wondering if you had a list of the tools that you use? Do you have a FB page/Group? I would love to join to get more feedback, inspiration and help regarding my transition into 3D Tumblers.
Hello! Thank you for sharing this, I am so glad to find you. Your tentacle demo has my mind teeming with ideas! Can you tell me, are the cups safe to bake in a gas/propane oven?
Loved your VERY informative tutorial and will be watching more! My only question is , if I color the clay with micas how will I colr the bare spaces that would normally be spray painted.i am guessing that the only option is to acrylic paint it between the spaces or spray paint the whole thing and hand paint the design. . Again thank you so very much for your informative tutorial!
Yes but you want to he sure you epoxy over it. You can also use bright tone several layers. Be certain you have epoxy that is food safe upon cure. I love Tumblerpoxy.com for all my regular and fast sets.
Depends if you are going to bake it on the tumbler you use. For gnomes I do my clay right on my tumbler and once its cool I then paint, glitter and epoxy. No glue needed. For pieces that you need to remove like dragon eyes or tentacles then you would glue them after
Sculpty bake clay rarely rarely cracked on me. Two things to check Did you condition your clay enough? By squishing the clay around in your hands it not only softens it but also mixs its compounds back into it If your baking it onto a tumbler and following the box instructions that's the issue. Follow my instructions in the tutorial and you may have better success.
I used regular clay left it to dry overnight. It cracked. I picked it up and it all fell off. Well not all. Thank you for this I shall be successful lol

@kyrismagickalcreations3691 Can you bake clay over powder coated tumblers?
This was extremely helpful. The only question I have is, do all the instructions stay the same for a gas oven

Can you sand the clay after you bake it?
What glue do you use to stay on when you wash it does not come off
I did watchnthis late but thank you for all the great info.

With the changes polymer clay made i suggest using.acrillc.paint.not spray paints. This should avoid issues with sticky
Thank you so much!
Awesome video! And yes you can bake clay with alcohol ink. It’s beautiful.

Any specific tumbler or any cheap steel tumbler will do?
I only use stainless double wall tumblers. I like stainless depot or mother tumbler for them
Do you have a tutorial making the octopus?
Can I glitter my tumbler before I put on my clay and bake it?

You try spray painting then rub your mica over the tacky paint BOOM 💥
I am just starting out with Sculpey clay. Thank you for all this useful information! Do you sand your cups ahead by hand? What grit do you use?
Sorry. Asked too soon. I watched to the end and saw you use 220 grit!
I use 220 for prep and 400 for light sanding after
What if the clay slides off the cup while it's baking?
Just glue it on when it.cools
Did you ever end up testing in a convection oven?
I did and did not like the results. A traditional oven works best.
The convention overheated the clay internally and I got alot of cracking
What glue do you use
Can you fill, like the nose, with foil so the clay will not be so thick?
Yes you can
Can you use the clay on glass wine glasses
Yes but you want to he sure you epoxy over it. You can also use bright tone several layers. Be certain you have epoxy that is food safe upon cure. I love Tumblerpoxy.com for all my regular and fast sets.
So do you prep the cup like sanding or anything before adding clay design
Yes sand with 120 or 80 grit.
Do no t spray painted cups that are being baked. Work on the steel, bake then paint with acrillic
Kyri if something lifts and your not doing epoxy, what glues would you recommend?
Also thank you it was super useful, so excited to do a tumbler
i like to use sculpty liquid then follow the instructions on the bottle. a little will do you
Is the clay you like waterbased? I use Crystlac, not epoxy, and would have ro be a waterbases clay. Thank you.
The Crystlac is similar to the polyurethane sealer I use on my clay pieces so there shouldn't be any problems with it.
Would the same temp and time be for a one gallon yeti jug.
Yes. If its thick clay I will rebate the next day
I would love to see your tricks of epoxying your octopus tumbler.
Hi thanks for following me. I will be doing a live in a couple weeks on epoxying clay. Including the octopus
Can air dry clay be used?
Your cat is talking in the background saying mom and mommy am I the only one who heard this
Do you use glue before or after the oven baking?
Depends if you are going to bake it on the tumbler you use.
For gnomes I do my clay right on my tumbler and once its cool I then paint, glitter and epoxy. No glue needed.
For pieces that you need to remove like dragon eyes or tentacles then you would glue them after
I keep trying to my the succulent tumbler and my air dry clay keeps cracking why? is the Sculpy clay a bake clay
Sculpty bake clay rarely rarely cracked on me. Two things to check

Add water to your finger and keep smoothing it out.
I used regular clay left it to dry overnight. It cracked. I picked it up and it all fell off. Well not all. Thank you for this I shall be successful lol
Ya but I am not artsy I have no imagination LOL
