Kaine's appearance is deliberately satirical to the appearance of other scantily-clad JRPG heroines, yet her personality doesn't mesh with ANY female archetype of the genre. She's foul-mouthed, vulgar, indelicate, says exactly what she thinks and isn't very feminine despite her appearance, and most important of all, she feels like a real person. It's brilliant.
The song thats playing in the scene seemed familiar, i thought it migth be the same song that plays in Emil's garden of lunar tears in Nier Automata, i went and checked, inmmediatly regreted that descition

Honestly, Kaine may be a foul-mouthed brute of a woman but she's still beautiful and she still has her soft moments. I wasn't a fan of her beating Nier for Emil's death but I still like the character. And Emil is my fucking precious son.

I love this game, and I think it was grossly under rated, that being said the voice acting was definately one of the best parts, both in cutscenes AND side quests, it works constantly to reveal more and more of the character's depth, and this scene was definately as good as it gets, a heartwarming moment right after epic book burning? come on now, how can you NOT love that?

I completed NieR: Automata first. I thought it's just the only Nier game, but since i met Emil, i knew there is missing something. So i searched for the earlier game and i can't believe it. I'm here after nier replicant 1.2 announcement I've never played nier, but I'm a fan of psychological thrillers or anything related to character introspection and questioning of morality so I started with automata and after route E, I had to see where this came from and was greeted with Nier and few moments later with drakengard This universe is a must for its originality alone, not to mention their effort and different use of resources and references Not to mention the aberration which makes everything else(imo) pale in comparison, never in my life have seen something so different from the usual story telling that almost everyone uses, and risking it like that is something that I'll always appreciate
Look up clemps (youtube channel) if you want to understand all the games in the franchise without having to purchase them. He does a wonderful job of sharing the character motivations under the surface too. I would just say hold off on replicant till u get to play 1.5 - square could release it for 100$ and ill still buy

Just watched this scene in Replicant and it didn't hit me anywhere close to as here. I'm too attached to the original design and line delivery of Kainé in this scene. This was the scene that made me really start liking her
The music isn't as good either in my opinion. The new version had too much added to it. I feel like this version is delicate sounding while the new one is more grand and takes away from scenes like these

@ShinRigel It's possible, there are some theories that someone repressed in some way may decide to overcompensate for it later . However, I think it was included as much for fanservice as anything.
Well they do share some of the same songs, with some of them being altered slightly. Emil (Sacrifice) from NieR for instance is also in Automata, but the new version sounds less sad and instead more grand (the name is Emil Despair by the way). Then there's Song of the Ancients. It's Devola and Popola's theme, though in Automata it sounds faster paced (the newer version is called Song of the Ancients - Atonement). I haven't played the original NieR, but Yoko Taro said he'll remake it if Automata sells well, so fingers crossed he keeps his promise. I finished Automata and it was beautiful ^^
Original is way better than replicant remake imo remake shines in terms of combat but the cutscenes suck. Maybe it's just me and gestalt was my first playthrough.

Well they do share some of the same songs, with some of them being altered slightly. Emil (Sacrifice) from NieR for instance is also in Automata, but the new version sounds less sad and instead more grand (the name is Emil Despair by the way). Then there's Song of the Ancients. It's Devola and Popola's theme, though in Automata it sounds faster paced (the newer version is called Song of the Ancients - Atonement). I haven't played the original NieR, but Yoko Taro said he'll remake it if Automata sells well, so fingers crossed he keeps his promise. I finished Automata and it was beautiful ^^
