However, Replicant events take place in 3474 BC so about 10,500 years between Replicant and Automata. Which makes a lot of sense if you look at this cave as it would take a HELL of a long time to turn that open space into this.
@@mspionage1743 First of all, I have no idea why you're using BC. Replicant begins around 2060 AD, but there's a time skip and the main game takes place in the 3400s AD. Automata is set in the 11900s, so ~8500 years after the events of Replicant/Gestalt. Really not sure where you guys are getting these incorrect timelines, but I replayed both games very recently so I know what I'm talking about.

@@ayhm3055 You need to do a sidequest called lunar tear which can be done by finding a white flower (there are 5 if i aint mistaken search it up the quest name on google) and then you'll find all five and he'll give you the key to a elevator in the mall which will lead you to this place.

It hits even harder if you ever took the time to cultivate Lunar Tears in Gestalt, it's a long and arduous process that takes a lot of time and patience since anything you plant in the game grows in real time and you need to hybridize a lot of flowers for a 1% chance of hybridizing a Lunar Tear. Emil planted so many of them, it definitely took him years.

Emil no longer remembers the pain he suffered, the fight he lost, and the friends that have passed away. Yet the luna tear, the flower that symbolizes his friends, bloom all around his home.
He does in route E of NieR Gestalt/Replicant. They don’t directly reference him since the player names him in the previous game, but route E was the written ending not included in NieR 1. It’s the cannon ending and it’s an extension of route D. You can read about it online.
I think he has a sense of him but doesn't actually remember persi, like how Kaine had a sense of him ,someone who she knew she loved but just doesn't remember that he ever existed due too ,well he erased his very essence. This place is more pointed towards Kaine since he loved her and remembers her deep down. The final boss fight with him proves this because he called out her name.
The language of music needs no translation to convey what it means. The sound does not lie, and cannot deceive. Thus what you get is the purest and truest form of communication. Add a nonsensical but beautiful language on top of that and I guess it doubles the effect.

I speak as someone who had not played any Nier game before Automata-I legit teared up. I had no context, no idea of the history and meaning to this song or place (though I do now) but standing there among those beautiful flowers and listening to the music, just listening, I actually began crying. Not full out bawling, but still tears and a good-sized lump in my throat. Even without context, the song and location alone (mostly the song) hit me with the powerful emotions they were trying to communicate and it was enough to make me cry and that’s just amazing.
Funny how a bunch of made up words (chaos language) could make someone cry without even understanding what it’s saying. We don’t know what type of meaning this song has all we know it has a beautiful melody
100% agree. Automata was my first Nier game but even with just Emil’s in-game dialogue alone was enough to make me to tear up at this part. After reading/watching the first Nier game (mainly via Clemp’s analysis videos) and Emil’s history, this video hits me differently, yet definitely harder. I’m starting my second playthrough of Automata and I don’t know if I’m excited or scared to go through it again.
I wanted to replay automato after replicant (hadn’t played in a year or two) and as I’ve been replaying it all the memories and original feels came back and it’s so much ;-; not to mention now knowing the story of Emil Kainé and Nier by first hand account and stepping into this room and seeing Kainé’s house as well as the lunar tears just broke me

Even after all these tens of thousands of years, long after he'd forgotten their names and faces... He still kept their garden and keepsakes perfectly intact. Yeah, this location hit me like a truck when I found it.
Nier is an absolute masterpiece, with The relationships of the original Team Kamier being absolutely precious. Emils care for Kaine and his bud that sacrificed everything to save her is something that brings tears to my eyes, I’m not gonna lie, Kaine/Salvation is going to be a song that lives within me forever with its beauty and emotion. And yeah, I cried too, I cried a lot in automata
I really hope the original Nier got more recognition after this game came out. It was so ungodly underrated man. Truly a master piece in it's own right.
I just don't think it really got a good amount of advertising. I don't know about you but I have never heard of the game when I first played it. The only reason I found it was because I was bored and looking for cheap 360 games on Amazon to buy and I just happened to stumble upon it. :P

lol no way it is underrated, game sold buckets and has a MASSIVE fanbase, a sequel is in the works too, I was in a comic convention in Asia the year Nier released and literally everyone cosplayed Nier chars and every artist sold at least one 2B art

Moments like this is what makes me think that a well made game can be one of the most powerful artforms. Absolutely beautiful from an aesthetic, musical, and narrative standpoint.
I played Replicant before playing Automata and let me tell you, seeing this was an emotional gut punch i was not prepared for. The fact that Emil, even with his scattered memory, kept this place safe from everything all for Kaine and Nier made be cry. This quest is amazing and after i completed it, i NEVER took off the Lunar Tear he gives you as a reward. Do this quest if you haven't.
It’s dangerous having such intense and passionate emotions, to live knowing you experienced them alone, not being able to share that feeling with anyone without them having an understanding of what makes it special in the first place
Man, I'm so emotional, my heart is screaming. It's screaming to see a piece of a girl's soul. The one who had everything taken from her and who gave it all up for her loved ones. But also these flowers are a reminder to the poor boy that he's all alone in the world. For the boy who doesn't know who he is, just a fragment of someone who really remembered the real reason for the pain in his heart at the sight of these flowers. And we are the players who went through the ordeal with them. Joy, pain, sadness, if we experience it all means that we, like Emil, have lost something or rather someone dear to us.
When Emil told them his story in this place I thought to myself “I’m sure I would’ve cried a river had I played the original Nier” but alas, that wasn’t the case. Such a shame, this ost was definitely worth crying over.
This and Weight Of The World actually made me cry. The music in this game is something else. Especially when you connect it to the story. City Ruins, Amusment Park, Pascal’s Village, Copied City, The Housing Complex and others have the most amazing soundtracks ever. This game a piece of art. Literal art
So, unknowingly, my BF talked with a few friends, and they all went into this VR room, and he told me to go in. I didn't expect this song, this room, and all those people... I almost bursted in tears. In the midst of the pandemic, and they all were there, far, but closer than ever. 💛 I love you, guys 💛
I gasped when the doors opened and I realized where I was. A lot of memories came flooding back -- I sat in this area for a good while reflecting on everything that had happened up until this point. Absolutely beautiful.
It is so sad , because of Emil is the immortal thing , he has been missing Nier and Kaine for 8000 years , they won't go back to him anymore , even the android 2B 9S and A2 could live longer , but one day they would be broken , they have no other bodies to replace
First you need to find 1 lunar tear (the glowing flower) then Emil will appear and give you the quest to find all of the Lunar tears around the map, after completing the side-quest you will be abble to unlock this place
You have to play as 9S, this quest opens up after completing the Forrest Kingdom but make sure you do it before you do the mission in the Flooded City. After completing the Forrest Kingdom, go to the red mark on the map where the commercial facility is and interact with the Lunar Tear to start the side quest
The return of this song is why I recommend that people play Automata first but not do Emil's questline, then play Gestalt, and then come back to Automata. It's hard to get a lot of people hooked with the first game (plus Automata is more accessible), but the absolute gut punch of hearing those first few notes and all of the lunar tears come into view is unparalleled.
I was playing NieR Automata first time. One day i was working and put this song to play(was in playlist). Scrolled and saw your comment, decided to try. Never cried so hard over a videogame.
When you play automata before nier and go to this place and hear this sound. You can feel the sadness.. And when you play nier replicant the sadness becomes worse than before
After finishing Nier Replicate and coming back to this area. It always makes me cry, gonna always remember the adventures both these games took me on and I can’t wait for the next game to come from this great series.

I've actually played the first NieR only after beating Automata... Before, I didn't know the meaning of this place and now, after seeing Kainé's story, it makes me wanna cry 😭 Such beautiful games.
When I reached this play, I just walking around for nearly 20 minutes. The beauty of flowers, the music and 2B herself are just perfect combination. I moved the camera around looking for a good screenshot and accidentally got the "What are you doing?" achievement lol
It only hurts because you realize that deep down Emile still remembers kainé to an extent, his closest friend, from the lunar tears to even using her song for the area. It hurts even more when you realize that in the end he never got to truly tell her goodbye and that even after ending E kainé died truly alone.
When i sacrificed my save data i felt happy and emotional... that for once.. i could help someone else with their expierience.... ive never felt so sad and happy... i was not that happy irl... i felt alone and sad... failed all my exams... But i am glad that i could be helpfull and usefull for once... goodluck to whoever that is fighting for ending E... i will be by your side and help you complete your expierence.... xena
Incredible, how music can evoke emotion and thought where words cannot begin to describe such things. Even a fake language that no one can translate manages to be understood by millions of people more so than the languages we have today.
It's sad to know that many people didn't get here because they only played NieR Automata for the fanservice... They didn't have any idea of the heartbreaking plot this game has
The game that introduced me to the series was automata. It wasn't really for something like fanservice, and, only for this room and Emil secret boss fight, i decided to play replicant. I think automata is the best game for someone to get into the franchise, and even so, i think both games are so much unique that you can apreciate them more like individual games than a franchise itself. Replicant is the remain leyend for automata, and automata is the imminet future for replicant. So, yeah, its amazing how different this quest hits once you know the context, the leyend itself

Don't know if anyone wants to hear my dumb little tale... but this place/song reminds me of a bittersweet time in my life. (looking back on it now.) For those of you who know VRChat, you may know this world for the sole purpose of it being pretty and amazing and a popular place to hang out. well.. One day back in late Jan. 2018 when VRChat was pretty popular I got on with my friends like I always would, ended up in The Madcat (for anybody who knows that map) and met a few new people. This one guy stood out, and we started hanging out a lot. After just a day or two, we started to stay up late into the nights when all of our other friends would go offline and just hung out in this Nier world by ourselves and chatting for hours on end. We hit it off really quickly and easily. We started dating later on and even had a dumb little RP wedding in this world because it was his favorite world. Everything was pretty good, we were happy and hung out a lot for awhile, doing all we could as a long distance. But slowly the distance got to him, and as much as it hurt we had to breakup, seeing as he was getting unhappy and it was only making me more unhappy as well. I never regret anything we did or said in that relationship, and I know it may sound dumb from an outside perspective since we literally only dated for a few months but. this was someone I truly cared for, if even for a short while. This song means a lot to me, even if i'm numb to the feelings behind it at this point. I've definitely moved on and i'm with a new super truly amazing guy I wouldn't trade for the world. Its just hard to come across this song and not think of the long hours spent in this world on VRChat and the memories along with it. I'm glad it all happened. I learned and grew as a person, and that's the best I could hope for. Some things just aren't meant to work out in the end, no matter how much you want them/think you want them to. So, Thank you Nier: Automata for having a beautiful setting and soundtrack that I happened to come across in another silly video game and thank you for the memories I keep near and dear to me, even if tucked away in the back of my mind 99.9% of the time. I will always love this track no matter what good and/or bad feelings and memories come along with it. and if anyone actually reads this whole dumb spheal, then thanks for listening to my deep in thought 3am memory lane ramblings. haha

Thats one of the sweetest things i have read in a long while. VR Chat made me meet some fun friends and even a girl i was really in to. It taught me that long distance relationships don't work and one shouldn't be drawn into the fantasy of it working out. There are too many stars that need to align in order for it to work out. Learning this the hard way makes you only more informed about the future, though. So I don't regret anything I've been through. However, whenever I re enter this room, either in VR Chat or in Nier, i think about all the fantasies I had and everything that could have worked out. In a sense it comforts me that these thoughts are at least there. I never restrained my feelings. I just accepted the reality of things. Now thinking back at everything... It makes me happy. I know this comment is about 60 days too late, but thank you if you still read through it.
That is what immersive VR game are going to be like. Being able to actually touch, feel, and even taste people places and things. When that time comes, situations like your will be even harder for people in the future. It'll feel as though you're actually with them. Sounds sad.
Sadly haven't played Nier, but man. I used to visit the VRChat version of this world and made some of my best memories there. This song and place just brings back so many pleasant and beautiful memories, and moments. I really miss some of those people. Love this place~ ♥
Seeing the new nier remake and coming across that hut I almost cried remembering this moment and connecting all the dots with the first game and this one.
I completed Emil’s quest today and a ton of emotions just overcame me when I reached this part and it’s why this song is special to me now. It all reminded me of someone very important to me, I can’t emphasize how much she meant to me. (I’m gonna spill my guts out now right now so if you don’t wanna hear this then you should scroll far down and ignore this comment). This special person used to be my girlfriend. The short version is it started with an awkward attempt at a compliment from me one day then after that she remembered me months later and she asked to be friends and we really hit off from there and eventually we confessed feelings to each other and later she told me she and showed she loved me and I genuinely loved her and tried my hardest and best to show it. There was a connection that I can’t explain. It was true love, I know it was, and we bonded and became seemingly inseparable. She told me to promise we would be forever and I gladly did and she did too. There was ups and downs just as any relationship but we always got through it. Quarantine didn’t make things easier but we made the best of it. We loved each other and she would always tell me how we were gonna get married. Things were so perfect and seeing her happy made me the happiest I believe I’ve ever been. Well, one day I was planning on getting her some flowers and I found these flowers I thought she’d like called Moonflowers. I liked them because they reminded me of her due to how she’d want me up at night on call so I showed some pictures to her and she loved them and I decided to try and get some for her. I was so eager to get one for her the I was picturing it and the big white flower would stand out beautifully against her dark black hair. I started calling her Moonflower too, they just became a symbol of her to me and when I saw that flower I saw her. But things got bad a few days later, my life was practically turning upside down after trouble after my family started suffering through a lot of hardships along with other personal things that were happening and I was beginning to feel afraid I was losing her and after everything was just piling on me I asked her if we could be together for a little, I just needed her to hug me and tell me things will be okay but she came up with an obvious excuse so I questioned it because of how it didn’t make sense and then she just broke up with me over text. We had been through so much together in just a span of almost 7 months and she was doing this to me after all the times she said she loved me and all I did for her. She didn’t end things on good terms, I was in major distress for once this hit me hard. I wasn’t the same and I tried to go to friends for help but they didn’t help and instead either laughed at me or looked down on me. So I was left alone and my overall health went down drastically and I stopped eating. I was at rock bottom and I lost the most important person in my life for a reason that I still don’t know to this day. All she said was that she doesn’t love me anymore and cut off all contact with me. I tried my hardest and best but it wasn’t enough and I failed. There was nothing else I can do I tried everything I could’ve done but to no avail and I wasn’t going to force things to happen so things ended like that on bad terms. Even so I don’t regret it. My time with her was still the happiest I’ve time I’ve experienced because I felt loved for once instead of ignored and also for the feeling of caring and loving another person. Before her I felt like a nobody, nobody gave a damn about me then all of the sudden somebody gives a damn, and then they leave for no reason other than I don’t want to be with you anymore. This was 3 months ago now. I’ve pretty much gotten over it but I’ve remained alone still. I haven’t been able to make friends or anything and I’ve gotten nothing from her. Someone came to me last month just to spit in my face that she has a boyfriend, she’s had one since the month we broke up. Life hasn’t been good at all since then but I’ve accepted being completely alone. I’ve gotten back to playing video games and I dug out Nier Automata today continued where I left off and found my way to this location and when I heard the soundtrack and saw the area my emotions hit harder than a golden Goliath biped machine on hard mode. All the Lunar Tears which greatly resemble Moonflowers made me instantly think of my beloved and that combined with the soundtrack and the story being told made me cry. I was overcome with memories of our time together and everything we were gonna do. I even realized how much my girlfriend resembles 2B. By now I had lost hope since I was still alone and there was no signs from her that she’s coming back but somehow hearing this gave me hope. Hope that things will get better. That she’ll come back and I’ll finally see my Moonflower again and that we’ll work things out and be together again. Hope that I’ll one day give her that Moonflower and see how it looks against her dark hair. And if not, then we could at least make amends and end things on good terms with a big hug. This is why this song and area became special to me. They gave me hope. The game devs and soundtrack composers really deserve props for making such a beautiful game come to life like this. That moment where I came to this area for the first time is probably going to stick with me forever. This was my story and it probably sounds stupid and corny but it’s the reason why this area and soundtrack are special to me.
Your story really moved me, I hope you are feeling better. I don't know if this will help you, but don't destroy yourself over that. Better times will come, I can promise you. I once was exactly at the same position. Take these feelings, take these emotions with you and don't abandon them because they are within you for a reason although they might hurt at the moment. But this is exactly what makes us human which is why I love Nier so much.
IMO, Emi Evans may just be the best vocal singer in the gaming industry, literally every song is perfect and you always know when its her. I remember playing Aragami 2 and just sitting in the training grounds area listening to Emi sing in between missions. So amazing.
I like to theorise that Emil’s Underground House here is the same one we see in the cave just before reaching The Aerie from Gestalt/Replicant. It is the same little shelter where Nier first meets Kaine. To further the point, Kaine’s theme is played in this location as we speak to Emil upon completing his Lunar Tear Quest.

He does in route E of NieR Gestalt/Replicant. They don’t directly reference him since the player names him in the previous game, but route E was the written ending not included in NieR 1. It’s the cannon ending and it’s an extension of route D. You can read about it online.
I think he has a sense of him but doesn't actually remember persi, like how Kaine had a sense of him ,someone who she knew she loved but just doesn't remember that he ever existed due too ,well he erased his very essence.
This place is more pointed towards Kaine since he loved her and remembers her deep down. The final boss fight with him proves this because he called out her name.

The language of music needs no translation to convey what it means. The sound does not lie, and cannot deceive. Thus what you get is the purest and truest form of communication. Add a nonsensical but beautiful language on top of that and I guess it doubles the effect.

I speak as someone who had not played any Nier game before Automata-I legit teared up. I had no context, no idea of the history and meaning to this song or place (though I do now) but standing there among those beautiful flowers and listening to the music, just listening, I actually began crying. Not full out bawling, but still tears and a good-sized lump in my throat. Even without context, the song and location alone (mostly the song) hit me with the powerful emotions they were trying to communicate and it was enough to make me cry and that’s just amazing.
You'd definitely love the first Nier then, much better story than Automata.

100% agree. Automata was my first Nier game but even with just Emil’s in-game dialogue alone was enough to make me to tear up at this part. After reading/watching the first Nier game (mainly via Clemp’s analysis videos) and Emil’s history, this video hits me differently, yet definitely harder.
I’m starting my second playthrough of Automata and I don’t know if I’m excited or scared to go through it again.

I wanted to replay automato after replicant (hadn’t played in a year or two) and as I’ve been replaying it all the memories and original feels came back and it’s so much ;-; not to mention now knowing the story of Emil Kainé and Nier by first hand account and stepping into this room and seeing Kainé’s house as well as the lunar tears just broke me

Lunar Tears, rare flowers that Kaine's grandma gave to her in a crown as a gift, Nier also gives her some as a welcome back gift. It hits even harder if you ever took the time to cultivate Lunar Tears in Gestalt, it's a long and arduous process that takes a lot of time and patience since anything you plant in the game grows in real time and you need to hybridize a lot of flowers for a 1% chance of hybridizing a Lunar Tear. Emil planted so many of them, it definitely took him years.
But hey, if you cheat to get whatever you planting to instantly grow so you can cultivate it, that even better

Nier is an absolute masterpiece, with The relationships of the original Team Kamier being absolutely precious.
Emils care for Kaine and his bud that sacrificed everything to save her is something that brings tears to my eyes, I’m not gonna lie, Kaine/Salvation is going to be a song that lives within me forever with its beauty and emotion.

At 40 years old, its rare for a game to make me emotional nowadays. But this game did it. What an experience.
I really hope the original Nier got more recognition after this game came out. It was so ungodly underrated man. Truly a master piece in it's own right.
Because its only available on ps3/360. Also we dont even have an option on which version to play cause we are locked into gestalt.
I just don't think it really got a good amount of advertising. I don't know about you but I have never heard of the game when I first played it. The only reason I found it was because I was bored and looking for cheap 360 games on Amazon to buy and I just happened to stumble upon it. :P

The first Nier is just another example of games journalists being dipshits. I love this series so much, and the first game deserves so much better.
You can play original nier with rpcs3 emulator,it perfectly playable for most hardware but not sure a very low end hardware

I played Replicant before playing Automata and let me tell you, seeing this was an emotional gut punch i was not prepared for. The fact that Emil, even with his scattered memory, kept this place safe from everything all for Kaine and Nier made be cry. This quest is amazing and after i completed it, i NEVER took off the Lunar Tear he gives you as a reward. Do this quest if you haven't.

It’s dangerous having such intense and passionate emotions, to live knowing you experienced them alone, not being able to share that feeling with anyone without them having an understanding of what makes it special in the first place
Man, I'm so emotional, my heart is screaming. It's screaming to see a piece of a girl's soul. The one who had everything taken from her and who gave it all up for her loved ones.
But also these flowers are a reminder to the poor boy that he's all alone in the world. For the boy who doesn't know who he is, just a fragment of someone who really remembered the real reason for the pain in his heart at the sight of these flowers.
And we are the players who went through the ordeal with them. Joy, pain, sadness, if we experience it all means that we, like Emil, have lost something or rather someone dear to us.

When Emil told them his story in this place I thought to myself “I’m sure I would’ve cried a river had I played the original Nier” but alas, that wasn’t the case. Such a shame, this ost was definitely worth crying over.

dbd978 if you complete I think 3 endings you get the option to choose different chapters to play and finish completing the game
First you need to find 1 lunar tear (the glowing flower) then Emil will appear and give you the quest to find all of the Lunar tears around the map, after completing the side-quest you will be abble to unlock this place
You have to play as 9S, this quest opens up after completing the Forrest Kingdom but make sure you do it before you do the mission in the Flooded City.
After completing the Forrest Kingdom, go to the red mark on the map where the commercial facility is and interact with the Lunar Tear to start the side quest
Go and find it. You will not regret it.
Rest in peace Atsuko Tanaka who not only gave Kaine the character life, but also a soul.
The return of this song is why I recommend that people play Automata first but not do Emil's questline, then play Gestalt, and then come back to Automata. It's hard to get a lot of people hooked with the first game (plus Automata is more accessible), but the absolute gut punch of hearing those first few notes and all of the lunar tears come into view is unparalleled.

After finishing Nier Replicate and coming back to this area. It always makes me cry, gonna always remember the adventures both these games took me on and I can’t wait for the next game to come from this great series.

When I reached this play, I just walking around for nearly 20 minutes. The beauty of flowers, the music and 2B herself are just perfect combination.
I moved the camera around looking for a good screenshot and accidentally got the "What are you doing?" achievement lol
It only hurts because you realize that deep down Emile still remembers kainé to an extent, his closest friend, from the lunar tears to even using her song for the area. It hurts even more when you realize that in the end he never got to truly tell her goodbye and that even after ending E kainé died truly alone.

The game that introduced me to the series was automata.
It wasn't really for something like fanservice, and, only for this room and Emil secret boss fight, i decided to play replicant.
I think automata is the best game for someone to get into the franchise, and even so, i think both games are so much unique that you can apreciate them more like individual games than a franchise itself.
Replicant is the remain leyend for automata, and automata is the imminet future for replicant.
So, yeah, its amazing how different this quest hits once you know the context, the leyend itself

For those of you who know VRChat, you may know this world for the sole purpose of it being pretty and amazing and a popular place to hang out. well..
One day back in late Jan. 2018 when VRChat was pretty popular I got on with my friends like I always would, ended up in The Madcat (for anybody who knows that map) and met a few new people. This one guy stood out, and we started hanging out a lot. After just a day or two, we started to stay up late into the nights when all of our other friends would go offline and just hung out in this Nier world by ourselves and chatting for hours on end. We hit it off really quickly and easily. We started dating later on and even had a dumb little RP wedding in this world because it was his favorite world.
Everything was pretty good, we were happy and hung out a lot for awhile, doing all we could as a long distance. But slowly the distance got to him, and as much as it hurt we had to breakup, seeing as he was getting unhappy and it was only making me more unhappy as well. I never regret anything we did or said in that relationship, and I know it may sound dumb from an outside perspective since we literally only dated for a few months but. this was someone I truly cared for, if even for a short while.
This song means a lot to me, even if i'm numb to the feelings behind it at this point. I've definitely moved on and i'm with a new super truly amazing guy I wouldn't trade for the world. Its just hard to come across this song and not think of the long hours spent in this world on VRChat and the memories along with it. I'm glad it all happened. I learned and grew as a person, and that's the best I could hope for. Some things just aren't meant to work out in the end, no matter how much you want them/think you want them to.
So, Thank you Nier: Automata for having a beautiful setting and soundtrack that I happened to come across in another silly video game and thank you for the memories I keep near and dear to me, even if tucked away in the back of my mind 99.9% of the time. I will always love this track no matter what good and/or bad feelings and memories come along with it.

Thats one of the sweetest things i have read in a long while. VR Chat made me meet some fun friends and even a girl i was really in to. It taught me that long distance relationships don't work and one shouldn't be drawn into the fantasy of it working out. There are too many stars that need to align in order for it to work out. Learning this the hard way makes you only more informed about the future, though. So I don't regret anything I've been through.
However, whenever I re enter this room, either in VR Chat or in Nier, i think about all the fantasies I had and everything that could have worked out. In a sense it comforts me that these thoughts are at least there. I never restrained my feelings. I just accepted the reality of things. Now thinking back at everything... It makes me happy.

Sadly haven't played Nier, but man. I used to visit the VRChat version of this world and made some of my best memories there. This song and place just brings back so many pleasant and beautiful memories, and moments. I really miss some of those people. Love this place~ ♥

I completed Emil’s quest today and a ton of emotions just overcame me when I reached this part and it’s why this song is special to me now. It all reminded me of someone very important to me, I can’t emphasize how much she meant to me. (I’m gonna spill my guts out now right now so if you don’t wanna hear this then you should scroll far down and ignore this comment).
This special person used to be my girlfriend. The short version is it started with an awkward attempt at a compliment from me one day then after that she remembered me months later and she asked to be friends and we really hit off from there and eventually we confessed feelings to each other and later she told me she and showed she loved me and I genuinely loved her and tried my hardest and best to show it. There was a connection that I can’t explain. It was true love, I know it was, and we bonded and became seemingly inseparable. She told me to promise we would be forever and I gladly did and she did too. There was ups and downs just as any relationship but we always got through it. Quarantine didn’t make things easier but we made the best of it. We loved each other and she would always tell me how we were gonna get married. Things were so perfect and seeing her happy made me the happiest I believe I’ve ever been.
Well, one day I was planning on getting her some flowers and I found these flowers I thought she’d like called Moonflowers. I liked them because they reminded me of her due to how she’d want me up at night on call so I showed some pictures to her and she loved them and I decided to try and get some for her. I was so eager to get one for her the I was picturing it and the big white flower would stand out beautifully against her dark black hair. I started calling her Moonflower too, they just became a symbol of her to me and when I saw that flower I saw her. But things got bad a few days later, my life was practically turning upside down after trouble after my family started suffering through a lot of hardships along with other personal things that were happening and I was beginning to feel afraid I was losing her and after everything was just piling on me I asked her if we could be together for a little, I just needed her to hug me and tell me things will be okay but she came up with an obvious excuse so I questioned it because of how it didn’t make sense and then she just broke up with me over text. We had been through so much together in just a span of almost 7 months and she was doing this to me after all the times she said she loved me and all I did for her. She didn’t end things on good terms, I was in major distress for once this hit me hard. I wasn’t the same and I tried to go to friends for help but they didn’t help and instead either laughed at me or looked down on me. So I was left alone and my overall health went down drastically and I stopped eating. I was at rock bottom and I lost the most important person in my life for a reason that I still don’t know to this day. All she said was that she doesn’t love me anymore and cut off all contact with me. I tried my hardest and best but it wasn’t enough and I failed. There was nothing else I can do I tried everything I could’ve done but to no avail and I wasn’t going to force things to happen so things ended like that on bad terms. Even so I don’t regret it. My time with her was still the happiest I’ve time I’ve experienced because I felt loved for once instead of ignored and also for the feeling of caring and loving another person. Before her I felt like a nobody, nobody gave a damn about me then all of the sudden somebody gives a damn, and then they leave for no reason other than I don’t want to be with you anymore.
This was 3 months ago now. I’ve pretty much gotten over it but I’ve remained alone still. I haven’t been able to make friends or anything and I’ve gotten nothing from her. Someone came to me last month just to spit in my face that she has a boyfriend, she’s had one since the month we broke up. Life hasn’t been good at all since then but I’ve accepted being completely alone. I’ve gotten back to playing video games and I dug out Nier Automata today continued where I left off and found my way to this location and when I heard the soundtrack and saw the area my emotions hit harder than a golden Goliath biped machine on hard mode. All the Lunar Tears which greatly resemble Moonflowers made me instantly think of my beloved and that combined with the soundtrack and the story being told made me cry. I was overcome with memories of our time together and everything we were gonna do. I even realized how much my girlfriend resembles 2B. By now I had lost hope since I was still alone and there was no signs from her that she’s coming back but somehow hearing this gave me hope. Hope that things will get better. That she’ll come back and I’ll finally see my Moonflower again and that we’ll work things out and be together again. Hope that I’ll one day give her that Moonflower and see how it looks against her dark hair. And if not, then we could at least make amends and end things on good terms with a big hug. This is why this song and area became special to me. They gave me hope.
The game devs and soundtrack composers really deserve props for making such a beautiful game come to life like this. That moment where I came to this area for the first time is probably going to stick with me forever. This was my story and it probably sounds stupid and corny but it’s the reason why this area and soundtrack are special to me.
Your story really moved me, I hope you are feeling better. I don't know if this will help you, but don't destroy yourself over that. Better times will come, I can promise you. I once was exactly at the same position. Take these feelings, take these emotions with you and don't abandon them because they are within you for a reason although they might hurt at the moment.
But this is exactly what makes us human which is why I love Nier so much.

IMO, Emi Evans may just be the best vocal singer in the gaming industry, literally every song is perfect and you always know when its her.
I remember playing Aragami 2 and just sitting in the training grounds area listening to Emi sing in between missions. So amazing.

I like to theorise that Emil’s Underground House here is the same one we see in the cave just before reaching The Aerie from Gestalt/Replicant. It is the same little shelter where Nier first meets Kaine. To further the point, Kaine’s theme is played in this location as we speak to Emil upon completing his Lunar Tear Quest.
