    It's a real proper winter there innit. Strange seeing all the Thais at that market rugged up like it was the North of England. How cold was it in degrees mate? I guess racing around on Lucille makes it even colder for you. By lunch time it would still be roasting hot though. Oh I loved that farm. Yidan has done really well. Work in progress but already inviting for tourists or even Thais to stay. Well done Wayne. Great video 🤩

      Really cold in the mornings mate. I didn't catch the temps, but it was cold man. By 11am, sweating buckets haha. It's been the same in Chiang Mai this winter also. Yidan is a great woman, she's created something special. Thanks mate.

    Interesting video. It's a well-known fact that most people from Shanghai are good traders, businesspeople, and bankers. Shanghai people are really tough. TOUGH. Probably, one must be tough to buy 5 rai of land and start from scratch. Five years from now, the land will be transformed most likely. Foreigners buying land is not something you often see. And, by now, corn has been planted to add to the Hot Pot, probably. Chinese communities are strong and resilient where ever you find them for several fundamental reasons.

    Great to see another part of Northern Thailand Wayne. The farm home stay is in a great location. Love the view of the mountain. I think the farm will look even better in a year or so when there's a bit more vegetation. 1,200 baht is a bit high if you have the dreaded shared bathroom IMO. Love the elevated walkways. 5 rai converts to 2 acreas btw. Hope Yidan doesn't have any ownership hassles with the land. Maybe I'm being a bit critical but the main street of Chang Dao looks pretty ordinary to me. Funny because it's in such a beautiful part of Thailand. Could do with some tarting up IMO.

    • @WalkAboutWayne
      @WalkAboutWayne  Год назад +1

      Thanks Doug! The Farm is in a great location, magical area. Yidan has many plans to expand, so it will be good to see the farm in 12 months time. I think the pricing is about right, IMO. The ordinary streets of Chiang Dao are what i love about the place, but i agree, it could get tarted up a little. Thanks Doug, always good to hear your thoughts on things.

    A true Bobby dazzler. A bit disappointing the last place didn't give you a late check out, it seemed pretty empty.
    I really admire people like Yidan that get their own piece of paradise and build such a enterprise on it. It's my dream to get a piece of land like that in the north where I can grow my food aswell. A place I can really settle my... arsh... into.

    Wow one of your best days out so far Wayne! And I get the sense the vibe here is more authentic and less touristy than Pai. More my style at least. Also looking forward to checking out Yidan's channel. She also might take a look at a one of my best Mates's from the U.K. who designs camping Yurts, she might be able to get some ideas look for "Campingyurts Summer Lake Oregon" to find some examples.

      @@WalkAboutWayne I'll share Yidan's channel with friends who may be interested and I may drop her a message.
      Interesting you say Chiang Dao might be a contender to live, I was wondering the same thing. Just having a laid-back spot to escape the heat would be good awesome.
      When I lived in Penang it was rejuvenating to go to Cameron Highlands for the weekend but it was an arduous 3-4 hour drive. Chiang Dao should be an easy run from Chiang Mai, and it may have been near Chiang Dao many years ago where I stayed in a very rural and traditional mountain village with the family of Thai friends from the U.S.
      I remember the town of Chiang Dao being pretty much a hill tribe and farming center, and It would be good to get a bit more of your take on the town and options available for long term accommodations?

    • @WalkAboutWayne
      @WalkAboutWayne  Год назад +1

      @@jackoneil3933 It's a great town but depends what your lifestyle is Jack. It's perfect for me, chilled town with all the shops and markets you need, great scenery and quiet streets. Rent is so cheap in Chiang Dao mate, i was seeing places for 3 and 5000 a month.

    • @jackoneil3933

      @@WalkAboutWayne Cool! Chiang Mai looks like it could start to feel like a bit of a grinder after a while. We all need a bit of purpose and belonging to keep physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually healthy, something that you don't often find as a traveler.
