This is not the story I've heard over the years. What breaks my heart to this day is that there were several American stars in the room when this happened. Brody was so damn tough that he lauded there on the floor for a long time and died at the hospital. Had he gotten help from ANYONE! He might have survived , he might not have. We'll never know. The man should not have been left to die like an animal.

Manny's not being fair to Atlas. Tony was in the locker room, which was separate from the showers, when Brody walked in from the shower room. It was Tony who called for the ambulance. He put Brody in the ambulance, because the emt's couldn't lift him. And Tony went to the hospital, and carried a doctor to Brody, to get him into surgery. No other wrestler in that locker room lifted a finger to help him. The only thing on Tony's mind, was to save Brody. Manny should talk about that.

I love how people act like they would have jumped in and helped Brody. I've seen hardened murderers in prison freeze up when one inmate attacks someone in their group unexpectedly. Years before his death Brody was already having problems with Invader (José Huertas) who said Brody did'nt like to follow the match script.

In Tony Atlas's defense what was he supposed to do? Take on a guy with a 15 inch knife and get killed himself? And btw, he was the only one who tried to do "something", anything at all.

Honestly, Neither of us would know how we would react seeing someone getting stabbed so brutally like that? Atlas likely was in shock.
Because the ambulance was stuck in traffic, when they got there it had been 45 mins. Atlas said Brody went in the shower stall after Jose called him over. Brody walked over with his guard down. Probably thinking he was getting cash from him. He walked in the shower and Atlas heard a low exhale like a stomach punch twice.
Ambulance drivers couldn't lift him, Atlas told Brody he can curl more than Brody weighed,lol, then clicked the stretcher into place.
Last correction, it wasn't a stab in the heart, it was a severed liver and deep intestine cut. He lived for an hour or so in the hospital before passing.
Dammit, how can these 2 go free. Why haven't family member or someone gone and tuned these 2 up.

Brody was stabbed not sliced open, it was a very large knife also, and the cut hair was from them trying to cut his face and missing thanks to Savio Vega pulling Brody back I do believe. It was a real shit show all around, especially considering the americans who were witnesses didn't get the summons for the trial until a month or so after it had taken place I do believe. Tony Atlas and Savio Vega tried their best to save Brody and Savio made sure they didn't kill Tony also.

A lot o people talk about what they don't know. At the time of Brody's death I was following wrestling in Puerto Rico. Facts are that Jose Huertas did faced prosecution and for what ever reasons he was found not guilty. Nobody knows what really happened, many of these wrestlers talk what they did not witness. Some people say everything happened because Brody was owed money, some others say that a real feud started between Brody and Hertas while both worked in the old WWF and that Huertas endured abuse by Brody in the dressing room. Who really knows? There is no way to make sense why Mr. Huertas was carrying a knife inside the dressing room that night. Now, if all these wrestlers "feared for their lives" and were so upset with Carlos Colon, Jose Huertas and the promotion, why did they go back to work with and for them again and again? Why a year after the incident Many Fernandez and many others worked in the ring with Colon and also Huertas??? I leave you with that.

Manny talk too much. He returned to PR and work for WWC again in 1990 and 1992. And for the AWF in 1993. So don’t sound too good friend to Brody when he did that. Money talks. And when said that get revenge what he dis to Invader 3 was not after Brody’s death, it was before that. And that was a storyline where he abused of the little Invader 3 but he don’t speak when the revenge happened and Invader 3 beat the hell out of him as part of the storyline. But yes, what Invader 1 did to Brody was terrible.
In my opinion I don’t think any of the American wrestlers liked Brody. Why didn’t they beat the hell out of invader or something, they all just let it slide. then when Brody died that’s when they all started saying he was a friend of mine, just so they can make a buck of his murder.

Regardless of what you think of Tony Atlas, you can't take away what he had accomplished with DeWayne Johnson's dad. I've always thought that Saba Simba gimmick was based on the Shake (Zulu) mini-series which came out around the time he was repackaged and debuted on TV with it. Still, it was awkward as hell for somebody who used to be referred as "Mr.USA".
Rocky Johnson and Tony Atlas couldn't stand each other. They were tag champions for nearly 10 months and barely spoke. Then again. this is coming from Tony Atlas himself. So take it with a grain of salt.

Ooookay lots of talking the comments I hope to add to the conversation and encourage some viewing of some other things and footage. First of all, It was Tony, by several accounts and those that are in the Brody book, who carried Brody to the ambulance and stood over the man after he was initially attacked. The sequence of events that Bull mentions in this interview are not even close to the eyewitness reports of what happened.
Brody was asked to meet in the shower. Everyone there thought he was getting a "finish". This is typical behavior for those in the dressing room by most accounts. Also Brody had bought into the company. Brody suspected he was going to be hurt or worse at some point due to them wanting his money but not him. Bobby Jaggers claims to have found a briefcase with paperwork in Brody's room having to do with the buy in. If I recall, he claimed he gave it to Brody's wife.
Dutch Mantell was there, TNT/Savio Vega was there, "Hangman" Bobby Jaggers was in the other lockerroom but was on site like these guys. Abdullah the Butcher was there as well as the Youngblood brothers. Plenty of people could have stopped this other than Tony. Read the book, listen to the other shoots and you will see no one mentions him being stabbed in the chest.
Oh, and Bull was such a great "friend" that he went back down to Puerto Rico after it happened and did the whole "knee across the sternum" angle where Invader III, I think it was, started to "vomit" blood. That footage is here on youtube somewhere. Or it was. *Edit* And on that note, the video of this match has comments from Rip Rogers who was on the card the night this angle occurred. He basically explained in his comments that Invader III drank animal blood and vomited that up on cue to produce all the blood for the angle. There ya go, another story Bull pretends is a shoot revealed to be nothing more than an elaborate work.
There is plenty of info out there that contradicts what Bull said here. Bull is living in his own world where he was apparently a top main event draw, was supposed to headline Starcade one year with Abdullah and he shot on Invader III in the ring because Jose was scared to wrestle him. Oh yeah and they filmed the shoot, aired it and then put it out on video too. *smh* I aint buying it Bull.

This is the first time any body said anything about money. Although, i do believe it was all about money but never knew how much. Manny is just upset as anyone one us , that would be one of us it had happen to someone we knew. In 2000 Bruiser Brody's wife was interviewed and she was shocked that anyone would try and hurt him. Colon had it leaked out that it was a disagreement in booking. Mantell was still doing work in PR as a booker and Atlas did work too and no one wanted to burn a bridge so they were neutral and wouldnt' speak on it. It wasn't until they had nothing to do with PR that they started being more aggressive in what they said.
Thats not true Tony was the one who told the police exatly what happened when everyone else in the locker room said it was a crazy fan who did it. Savio Vega even said Invader was sitting there saying does Tony want the same thing to happen to him while he was talking to the police.

I think Manny Fernandez was the one who get the vengeance,when he took out of wrestling Invader 3. Even if he came back, he was never the same. When you want a vengeance, sometimes you don't have to beat that person up, but emotionally. When one of our friends get hurt, we feel the punishment much harder.

I believe Mannys account more than anyone. Brody was owed money and they were all in on it, except Tony. Atlas claims they cut off his hair while swinging at him, but Manny's explanation seems more likely. I don't fully trust Tony's account because he didn't go back to the hospital to check on Brody.
He couldn't go back. The doctors said he was causing too much of a commotion. What I find weird is that the doctors fixed his liver and said he would be ok, but the next day he was gone. I believe they finished him off in the hospital.

This idiot just repeats what others said, he wasn't there at the time. In fact he only came to PR a couple of times and left quickly. So his involvement in the case is not real. Many wrestlers talking without having been there. Possibly those rumors were the same ones that complicated the case and took away their credibility. The only ones present were not even close to the place where the murder takes place. The only wrestler nearby was TNT and his testimony was full of inconsistencies, which ultimately damaged the case. Invader 1 was not a great person but the hatred towards him from even before the incident was what diminished the credibility. Even several, especially Rick Flair, said they had been there, which was false because it had been years since he had even visited the island. Everything that happened is only known by the victim and the murderer. The rest is pure gossip and you can not convict someone of murder with gossip.
