Is there a possibility that I could do this without Google API Key. Im having trouble getting pass the billing stage. and what is the Mapbox token for?
Great Addon! I am loving it. But I am trying to make it react to light, so I could set it to day, night, dusk... Do you know how to render it in a fashion that makes the map react to light?
@@kevinwth6018 I ran into the same problem, you have to click "replace materials" on the tool panel of the plugin with all the geo selected and then export out with blender's copy textures fbx setting.
Can you use this 3d model for commercial purpose ? As blender is free, but we are using google API. Is there any privacy policy, as we are not using cesium here.
Thanks for the vid, followed everything up to the point where I hit ''import' and it hit me with "Error: a valid directory for the data in the addon preferences isn't set". Any ideas?
Figured it out, I had to add a location for the map tiles to be saved to. Now I'm getting the error: Unable to process the root URI of the 3D tiles: HTTP error 403: forbidden. Any ideas?
@@SuperJimmy3D Figured it out, you have to enable map tiles on your cloud account or something like that. Someone posted a link somewhere but I'm not sure I still have it

Hi, anyone has idea how to remove (detach) part of the model in blender without effecting the rest part of model. The season I am asking is because we need to remove subject development site and replace with 3D development design model. We have difficulty removing part of blender model (import from 3d google map) without effecting other part (will remove other model and texture map). Anyone has good workaround for this? Thank you very much in advance!
Your Google API key is not set when that happens. Check the Blosm description, there is a detailed explanation about that. You need to setup Credit Card info to get the API key.
When I do it, it looks like nothing happens, but there is an object. I scale it by 0.01 and then it comes into view. It's just so large. Perhaps that's what's happening for you. Edit: Wait a second. I'm thinking of when I use the "terrain" option instead of Google 3D tiles. I'm not sure if I've gotten that to work yet. I'll have to give it another shot.
You can export the mesh as FBX that you can import into other software. Might have to make a separate object that is UV unwrapped/texture-baked though.
Meanwhile, i'm currently importing a 10x11 kilometer area of my home town in the best quality, and i've waited 40 minutes so far, still going lol. And for some reason, blosm's map data folder only has one json file of 114kb, and "current_file.glb" of 20KB that is written, gets deleted over and over so far. Can't tell if it's failing in a loop, or if the actual cached data is somewhere else lol
Can anyone give me a google api key...... i tried so many times to add my credit card and there's an error not allowing that.... I'll need it just for 10 mins. Or if anyone can download the map and send it to me.. That would be a great help😢
render doc is partially broken and the most recent versions of it have removed the ability to take 3d data from google maps "due to a security concern" .. that and its far more tedious to use render docs compared to the Blender addon
@@Markom3D there were some question marks for me while configuring the google api key which are a bit scary due to the way they word things like "protect your key from being used for traffic by restricting it's use". i'm wondering now if someone could run up a bill lol

wow bro ended that this video with the most epic TWHAMP sound fx from Mario Bros
@Markom3D a few people have asked about exporting the model with textures. Have you come across a solution for this?

Hi ! Why when I export, I don't have the textures? ^^'
Do you know how to export it in FBX with textures?
I come across the same issue here when I export it to fbx format even after I click the ‘copy’ option at the top right corner when exporting

This is how I solved the white mesh problem when exporting out a fbx for use in Unreal Engine.

Unreal has a direct google maps importer.. Cesium, I don't know how to use UE or blender so cant give more than that sorry :D

what's wrong with using render doc instead of blosm addon? Atleast you don't have to compromise you debit or credit card

i am getting everything as a2D plane rather than 3D
same here
I found it might because the 3D function is not fully cover all areas, try some popular location such as London or Amsterdam
