Hi, everybody, Anborough here, author of SCP-2700! I just want to say thank you to SCP Explained for making this wonderful video, and thank you to all the viewers and readers that have taken such an interest in this article, the SCP Foundation and the works of SCP Explained. Nine years ago I never would have imagined that something I originally wrote would get so much attention, and I really don't know what to say. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I haven't been active on the Foundation in years, and I don't really keep up with new developments, but my girlfriend told me that someone had animated 2700, and I had to come see. This was my entry for the SCP-2000 "Science Fiction" Contest, and I decided that, with all the imagery of Tesla as a saint-like figure in popular culture, we needed a portrayal that showcased not only his genius, but also his flaws. Thank you, again, everyone, this is a fantastic video and I appreciate this all so much.

No one said it was better just that Tesla thought it was "profoundly beautiful". Tesla was also more than a little unhinged, he may have been a genius but he was also crazy and you really wouldn't agree with a mad mans idea of "beautiful". Just a cool fun fact about Tesla, he was born during a severe lightning storm. Also he kinda adopted a wild pigeon and when it died he slipped into a massive depressive state.
Easy solution to this one. Just put it in another universe. I would recommend setting it up in the dimension beyond the door in SCP-2317 so that it hits the Devourer of Worlds when it goes off.
The only thing that I can think of that would have that kind of power is a paradox, essentially a glitch in the laws of physics from the result of a secondary, different set of physics contradicting ours while ours contradicts it’s. If two different fundamental mechanics of reality break each other, it would be like splitting an atom, but at a much, much greater level. If you want to neutralize omega, you would have to somehow undo what the other set of physics did. To do this, you would need the assistance of a reality warper of the highest degree, such as a god.
It's been theorized that the universe may tear itself apart if the Higgs-Bozon particle exists in a false vacuum state. If enough of the field dropped to the 'true state', it would change the laws of physics as we know it, tearing apart the universe in the process. It's called false vacuum decay, and it's pretty interesting, yet scary stuff to study and contemplate.
Thankfully, it's possible that the energy released by vacuum decay could be so great that the region of spacetime it occurs in would immediately collapse into a black hole forever cutting the decay off from the rest of the universe.
I was always obsessed with him an how his brain work this man was the smartest person in history i wish he got the fame he deserved an we took advantage of the amazing ideas he had while we had the chance
That would require breaking down of the cement wall, dooming the people who bring SCP-2700 to a life within that universe, putting the cement back up, and hoping that death didn't make its way across on its own. And that's without considering actually transporting SCP-2700 itself.
@@justinalicea1590 Theoretically speaking, it would be possible to facilitate the movement of the device into O, Death via a computer-controlled set of vehicles, therefore making it possible to transport it into O, Death without sacrificing some D-Class or a Mobile Task Force. And the Death of that reality will only come across if someone or something from our world went there and came back to our own. As long as someone isn't stupid enough to bring SCP- 682 there, we'll be fine. All it takes when it comes to manpower is a few Mobile Task Force agents to act as guards, as well as a few scientists and engineers to facilitate the disposal of the device, and removal of any vermin that may decide to infiltrate the mission.
But what if the big "un-bang" that it creates passes through like death did? And considering that O'Death connects to multiple earth's... No cement wall will prevent that
not really, its a pretty dumb idea when it comes to war. Here is why : This works a lot like the railgun. The US military already tosses somewhat 2 billion USD to create one and not only it ended up a disaster that was completely abandoned summer 2021 this year but it also delayed them towards what was a better project . To deploy a railgun shooting fast is not the only aspect your radars and reaction weapon need to be as fast, the technology for absolute radars and hypersonic moving canons is simply nowhere near the level required to operate a railgun.
Dude, they have a mortar that can kill people through the butterfly effect on the other side of the earth. At least they still need to aim this thing, the mortar only need the target's identification and few days later, your target will die in a car crash or a bridge collapse.
Actually it uses the principles of the Heaven Project halfway. Made in Heaven can send the Universe to the Singularity Point but Made in Heaven can at least restart the world.
The way I always looked at this SCP was that it was a Phase Change in a bottle, if it behaves as modern physics THINKS these universe ending/altering events do the change would propagate at light-speed. Absolute worst case solution would be to drop the thing behind the event horizon of a black hole using an FTL drive of some kind, which would potentially dump it inside a region of space that was expanding beyond the speed of light, which, while unlikely to be a permanent solution, would likely make it a non-issue for several trillion trillion years. Of course we're dealing with things that break the laws of physics, as such, that'd probably be a last ditch attempt to solve the issue.
I am pretty sure the traveler was not the one who activated. One of the 6 or 7 other people the traveler brought with him activated SCP-2700, not before persuading Tesla to change a " little thing" about whatever equation they used to create SCP-2700-Omega. Tesla didn't know that person had other intentions for SCP-2700, but SCP-2700-Omega was already created and activated.
I gotta say, I’ve been going through extreme times rn. But, SCP Explained, you have been a huge reason I am able to calm down and fall asleep when the day is done. I am extremely thankful for you and hope you good folks can keep this going for as long as possible. Thank you, from a struggling college student
1:44 Tesla described the Teleforce as a "beam weapon", but you just described a railgun. Pretty sure the teleforce was supposed to shoot a beam of electrons, not a projectile.
Nope, read what Tesla himself wrote- he wrote "particles" but was very vague about their nature: "My apparatus projects particles which may be relatively large or of microscopic dimensions, enabling us to convey to a small area at a great distance trillions of times more energy than is possible with rays of any kind. Many thousands of horsepower can thus be transmitted by a stream thinner than a hair, so that nothing can resist. The nozzle would send concentrated beams of particles through the free air, of such tremendous energy that they will bring down a fleet of 10,000 enemy airplanes at a distance of 200 miles from a defending nation's border and will cause armies to drop dead in their tracks." Wikipedia, citing The New York Times and "Tesla- Master Of Lightning" Nothing to do with railguns which were patented in 1922(!)
@@markfergerson2145 that's what I'm saying: Tesla didn't invent a projectile weapon, but a beam weapon. Also, what else would the beam be made of? Everything is particles.
Addendum [2700-001]: The following is an excerpt from personal log written by Tesla in 1934. It stands before me, complete and inescapably counting down toward the nexus of my oversights and failures. Only one month ago, I was approached by a man I had never seen before. He…was the most content person I had ever seen. His eyes felt like a window into serenity. He said he was looking for the most curious mind in the world, and I was it. Apparently I wasn't hard to distinguish from the billions of other minds on the planet, not that that surprises me. Somehow I knew immediately that he wasn't…from here, and I felt self-conscious about this world-my world. It felt humiliating to me. I think he knew what I was feeling. During those brief windows when I was not isolated in my work, I would glimpse the events unfolding elsewhere. I never cared for what I saw. The world is too broke to feed itself, and it's responding like any hungry animal. It's angry; war is coming. I can only hope that in the conflict nature will take its course, and the lingering degenerates of our species are expunged. It's because of the degenerates that war erupts, and war is the only thing that can clean them from civilization. That is the way of any system; when the…unnecessary pieces build up to critical mass, chaos brings the destruction that returns things to equilibrium. But his smile just seemed to cut right through the maelstrom of disgust and inadequacy in my head. Then came the truth: he was looking for the most ingenious minds from each of the other universes. He found my lack of astonishment to the phrase "other universes" surprising. I asked how many there were, and he said he did not know; in addition to his own and mine, they had only found five others that were coherent and could support life. If anything, I was astonished that there were only seven found. He laughed at that, said I seemed promising to him. I asked him what he wanted me for. "To unlock science's final secret." We prepared for departure over the next twenty-four hours. I asked the traveler if I could take my project with me and have his people look at it, to which he replied that it would be no problem. The Teleforce had hit substantial roadblocks; I had no way to develop a power source sufficient for it. I didn't tell him what it was: I just said it was just an accelerator, not a weapon. I didn't want him second-guessing my motivations. I thought that if I could complete it in his universe, I could bring it back and take care of the…equilibrium problem myself. We left in the early morning, I admit, while the prospect of another universe didn't shock me considerably, the premise of actually travelling there was intriguing. The traveler grabbed my arm and adjusted something attached to his wrist; it resembled a simple watch but I couldn't get a good look at it. There was an intense flash and everything went black. For an instant I thought I'd been blinded, then I felt the terrifying free-fall. Tumbling through infinite darkness at unfathomable speed; I had never been more frightened in all my life. Even so, I experienced wonder and anticipation such that I had never known. Then, in an instant, it all stopped. I opened my eyes and saw…words fail to do it justice. More accurately, our words fail to do it justice. Just as I cannot write the traveler's true name in these letters and be satisfied with it, I cannot describe the transcendent beauty of his home-world. It was a world with a pulse, a life that I could palpate, and at that point I felt the enormity of my world's hollow and primitive nature collapse upon me. I cried, not at his world's beauty but at my world's sheer inferiority. I'm relieved that he never realized the real reason behind those tears. I was brought to a city, again, I am using the word "city" as nothing more than the most appropriate analogue. There the traveler introduced me to his family, and to many of his people. That feeling of contentment that he gave me during our first encounter now surrounded me on all sides; my sense of shame only deepened. This world wasn't just better, it was the closest thing to perfection that I could possibly imagine. They weren't pointlessly cheery, but they would not tolerate any of the idiotic and trivial nonsense that people fret over here. Then I met the others. One from each universe, as the traveler explained to me (him being the representative of his own universe). I will not go into details on their appearances; this is irrelevant and ephemeral information that reveals nothing of their vast intellect and ingenuity. I spent at least…a day simply talking with them. I kept my pocket watch with me during my visit, it was the only thing that kept record of Earth's time while I was there. They have their own form of time, of course, but it was more practical for me to keep using ours. I vastly enjoyed the time I spent conversing with them. We spoke of things I would never dare reference as "science" here, but they thought of it as no more strange than gravity itself. The traveler told everyone what the great project he had assembled us for was. We were to build a perpetual energy generator. Not only did this instill in me appropriately infinite fascination, but I identified that this was just what the Teleforce needed. Naturally, I volunteered my device to them to be the test subject for the generator once it was finished, just to see if it worked. To my delight, they accepted this proposal and we got to work. Over the course of a few short weeks, we compiled our data and at last it was I that found the solution: the properties of two specific substances, each from a different universe, when in interaction, should produce the reaction that would catalyze infinite energy. Both samples had been taken from universes that were inhospitable to our form of life; their subatomic nature was not only at odds with the realm in which I was residing, but with each other. It was only by virtue of a "causal membrane" the others provided me with that the samples could remain in existence here. I was certain that this paradoxical interaction was the key. I pored over the notes for nights, trying to finalize the designs. It was at that time that one of the others came to me, offering his help. The "watcher" is what I liked to call him. That is what he did: he watched me all the time, I don't know why, and he claimed I was just "interesting." Certainly disconcerting, but I can admit to having the same feeling myself often. He peered over my notes, and pointed out something I had missed, a simple error I had overlooked. With that, my calculations were complete, and we were ready to begin the test. I was ecstatic! The day came, and the traveler and I loaded the core into the Teleforce for our initial test. At first everything was going as we had foreseen, but when we inspected it one hour later, one of the others noticed something unusual: the amount of energy inside the core seemed to be diminishing, which didn't make any sense at all. Then the horrific realization came: it wasn't diminishing, the energy was converging upon itself infinitely. The core was reversing the flow of entropy. None of the others failed to see the critical danger of this predicament. If we could not neutralize the reaction, it could disrupt the flow of entropy for the entire universe. It would reverse time to the birth of existence. Hastily, I accessed the console of the Teleforce, and saw that someone had set it to activate in three hundred years. I tried to disable it, but I could not. The system would not recognize my commands, which can only mean that someone sabotaged the console. Then it clicked in my head with absolute certainty. I spun to face the watcher and declared him the culprit of the situation. He gave a smile that seemed to contain more malice than any one being should be capable of. He denied nothing, and went further: he explained that only he knew how to deactivate the Teleforce, and that disassembling it would do nothing but spread the reaction sooner. He leered at me in that way he always had, and I cursed myself for not figuring him out sooner; some "greatest mind" I was. Then he said it: What right did I have to hold him with contempt when I too came here to complete a weapon? Clearly, those wretched eyes had found my journal, for he then begun to describe the Teleforce's function and purpose. He commended me for coming to another universe to build it, rather than risk building it in my own, as it was exactly what he did. Why did he set it to three hundred years? It was merely a safeguard to ensure it didn't activate while he was still there. The watcher then disappeared back to his own universe, taking the only device capable of reaching it with him. We were left there with my great invention, now a time bomb for this universe that I had grown so fond of. Why did the Watcher want to create such a weapon in the first place? I don't know or care anymore. All I cared about was the fear and hopelessness of the traveler, his family, and his world. It was my theories that brought this upon them, it was all my fault. The traveler, though, did not blame me, and I think that was the final sign that I had to do what I did.
Thank you because this correct the HUGE MISTAKE THEY DID of saying the traveler was the bad guy. No just the random one brought by the traveler i.e. another traveler like tesla was to blame (the watcher) not the civilization they WERE PEACEFUL!
However my people thought of how to disarm it How we did it? Nikola Tesla was born in Smiljan, Croatia (then part of Austria-Hungary). You can find his passport online. His father was indeed a priest in serbian orthodox church, but he was in Serbia for one whole day! He was schooled in Croatia and Austria, then went to America. His ties to Serbia are slim to none.
so, my idea to be rid of 2700-omega is to order 507 to place it in any dimension of his choosing, but preferably one with little to no life probably, giving him some indication to it's destructive capabilities, but keeping the whole "reality shattering cosmic power" thing on the DL. by the time it goes off, 507 will be dead, so there's no fear of him accidentally bringing it's effects back with him during a shift, and if it's in an alternate reality, then it won't affect our reality yeah? as for how, 2700-3 seems relatively small, and while attached to the machine, could theoretically be picked up without disconnecting anything, and thusly "carry" it with him as he shifts
Awww, I was kinda hoping this SCP would be the Oscillator that Tesla had Mark Twain try out. But that’s a story of an entirely different ticking time bomb 😆

Tesla is one of those under-appreciated genius from his time that if he was alive today, he would revolutionized the entire energy industry and infrastructure. Sadly he's one of those that is heavily repulsed and targeted by corrupt politicians and business corporations that don't want anyone changing the way things are as they sat comfortable in their wealth and pleasure. People that have the ambition to change the world are often easily knock down from the ladder and the world would never know. Say for example - what if there's a person who finds a way of creating an engine that produced less CO2? What if using water as a new alternative source of fuel for cars and such? This type are easily forgotten, made into myths and becomes nothing into a pile of conspiracies. Since the one who put down the spark are those on the top that want things to remained stagnant and full of ignorant fools. What a sad sad reality we lived. Freedom of choice? No, freedom is an illusion.
SCP - 2700 - OMEGA was created this year. It's called a time crystal and was created by google's supercomputer. This new form of matter they created also dodges The 2nd Law of Thermodynamics, the one that establishes entropy.
Sounds like the prototype of the Beowulf-Sigurd Railgun for the Dragonslayer Day 73 of asking the O5 to use SCP-1968 to create a universe in which 682 doesn't exist.
SCP 682 is the Universe constant, only if all life is dead, then only can it be killed, like SCP 2935. Editing the past is a last ditch effort. For now, let the lizard swim in peace in HCL.
@@calebcostrini They can easily deal with this SCP, trapping it in a dimensional barrier, exposing it to an SCP capable of destroying it, and so much more
Loved the video, as always. I would personally stick Omega in the Devourer's dimension. If the Devourer escapes, hopefully the blast ends even that monstrosity before it could breach the gate, and the fact that it's a different dimension would keep our universe safe.
well, a solution already exists, they could just yeet it into another universe it wouldn't be the first alternate universe the foundation watches be destroyed for their own gains

No cement wall will prevent that
I had that same idea
So what you're saying is Tesla invented the ultimate Bites the Dust?
not really, its a pretty dumb idea when it comes to war. Here is why :
This works a lot like the railgun.

Thank you for posting so regularly. Keep 'em coming!
Actually ftl would only work if you are just at the horizon
Since space is the one curvibg

I am pretty sure the traveler was not the one who activated. One of the 6 or 7 other people the traveler brought with him activated SCP-2700, not before persuading Tesla to change a " little thing" about whatever equation they used to create SCP-2700-Omega. Tesla didn't know that person had other intentions for SCP-2700, but SCP-2700-Omega was already created and activated.
"Hold up, wait a minute, something ain't right" today 2022 year so this thing will activate in 22 years

1:44 Tesla described the Teleforce as a "beam weapon", but you just described a railgun. Pretty sure the teleforce was supposed to shoot a beam of electrons, not a projectile.
Kinda explains why they spread falsehoods about it being a "death ray"
Nope, read what Tesla himself wrote- he wrote "particles" but was very vague about their nature:
"My apparatus projects particles which may be relatively large or of microscopic dimensions, enabling us to convey to a small area at a great distance trillions of times more energy than is possible with rays of any kind. Many thousands of horsepower can thus be transmitted by a stream thinner than a hair, so that nothing can resist. The nozzle would send concentrated beams of particles through the free air, of such tremendous energy that they will bring down a fleet of 10,000 enemy airplanes at a distance of 200 miles from a defending nation's border and will cause armies to drop dead in their tracks."
Wikipedia, citing The New York Times and "Tesla- Master Of Lightning"
Nothing to do with railguns which were patented in 1922(!)
@@markfergerson2145 in this quote he says it fires beams.
@@dhararry7929 "Beams of particles".

Its crazy how one of my favorite RUclips channels ever Inforgraphic Show can lead into my other favorite yt
"To unlock science's final secret."
We prepared for departure over the next twenty-four hours.
This was a great read and gives a lot of insight into this scp
Thank you because this correct the HUGE MISTAKE THEY DID of saying the traveler was the bad guy. No just the random one brought by the traveler i.e. another traveler like tesla was to blame (the watcher) not the civilization they WERE PEACEFUL!

so, my idea to be rid of 2700-omega is to order 507 to place it in any dimension of his choosing, but preferably one with little to no life probably, giving him some indication to it's destructive capabilities, but keeping the whole "reality shattering cosmic power" thing on the DL.
by the time it goes off, 507 will be dead, so there's no fear of him accidentally bringing it's effects back with him during a shift, and if it's in an alternate reality, then it won't affect our reality yeah?
