What a wonderful tribute to 1361 during her brief comeback in the late 80's. Hope they can get her parts made soon. Last I read said every bolt would have to be handcrafted.
The video footage showing all those people waiting along the side of the side of the road, is that Route 220 that runs parallel at the base of the Alleghenies?
My Grandfather ( my mom"s dad was a conductor on the B&O. They lived in Galton in Pennsylvania. I love trains. I love this song but Arlo Guthrie did the best version.
National Geographic put out a compilation of train songs in the late 70s. It was titled Wabash Cannonball. The versions of the songs on it; including this one, are among the best versions I've heard. It's not well known though. It was a gift you could choose for subscribing.
No matter the proper engines or not I love the song and the video. Love the shot of the streamliner coming into view. Arlo owns the song but this is a good version.
Daniel Boone my grandmother went to Altoona for me Looking for 1361 1361 is nowhere to be found in Altoona I think 1361 is in Strasburg There are a few Pennsylvania engines there that look like 1361
Trainchaser chaser 1361 is in pieces at Steamtown PA. It’s been put under “Restoration” for 24 years. There are chances that it will steam again this decade
A beautiful tribute to a way that is no more. Imagine shoveling coal in 2023. Thank you for posting this.
I have heard different versions of this song and I still think Arlo Guthrie's version is still the best.
Love the vision of the train...great song
There’s something special and wonderful about a steam locomotive. They are wonderous
They are alive!

I really wish i saw Pennsy #1361 in the late 80's as a kid! Like at the age of 13 in 1987!

Amazing! I love it! This is one of the best train/railroad songs there is!

That's what I'm wondering too. I love it as well.
I think it's one of the balladeers during the hippie times, meaning during the '60s.
@@bitsnpieces11 Teh song was written by Steve Goodman in the 1970s.
this is a slowed version done by John Denver
