I think one thing you can praise JJBA highly on is tension. Araki is great at building up these threats and finding clever ways for the protagonists to dismantle them, but there's something critical to that formula. In a lot of shows, the stakes don't feel very high, no matter how well they build up their antagonists. We can rest assured that the main cast will probably be fine in the end, and anything other than that is an outlier, usually built up to and foreshadowed heavily until finally seeing the payoff of the beloved secondary character's death, and the survivors need to use those feelings as fuel to carry on and-- yeah, JJBA doesn't do that. Because of how JJBA is structured, in parts with new casts, Araki can afford to kill off these characters, sometimes. And, sure, there's buildup, sometimes. But death in JJBA is a lot like death in real life. It can be senseless, without warning, without any deeper meaning. We look to fiction and so many deaths try to derive meaning from death, because sometimes, that's what we as humans crave. To be able to make sense of death, of loss, of grief. Because of the rotating core cast, and because it's not afraid to kill its core cast members for each part, the stakes in every fight /feel/ real. You can feel every attack the heroes take and wonder, quietly, if they'll make it out of this one alright. Because you've been shown that, yes, there's a chance they won't be OK. That the characters aren't just playing pretend, they're in /actual/ danger. And this peril makes the characters feel just that little bit more special, the connection you make with them that much more impactful, I think.
even if we know Rohan can't die in these, it still carries over. Anyone but Rohan can die, sure. But that lingering feeling still remains. That tension from the main series can still very much be felt.

1:32 HOLY SHIT! I didn't notice it before, but the song that starts playing at 1:32 is the one that plays when Dio has Senator Phillips run over pedestrians to chase Joseph and Kakyoin! The one labelled for some reason as "Vanilla Ice theme", even though it doesn't play during his fight!
My takeaway is that Yoma is built like an Adonis, obsessively spends every second of his day on optimizing his workout, and is literally possessed by a Greek God. And it was STILL a photo finish against Rohan. Rohan even matched him rep for rep on the bench. What juice is Rohan on???
You cut out one of the best parts- after Yoma went out the window, Rohan quickly got out of the room. He was so scared of Yoma that he didn't even bother looking outside the broken window because he was thinking Yoma is just hanging the outside wall, waiting for Rohan to peak outside the broken window so he could attack him.
I don't think that he was scared of Yoma hanging on the wall. He was scared that if he looked out the window and Yoma had survived the fall, that would mean that Yoma would see Rohan looking down on him, which would probably make him chase him for the rest of his life.
@@Nightdreamr I looked back on the episode and he says that too. He actually said a lot of things on why he didn't try to look out the window. He was scared that Yoma was no longer down there, or that he was just clinging/hanging on the wall, or that he might look down on Yoma and trigger him to kill Rohan.
When Rohan used his stand, Yoma noticed that. That means Yoma already became standuser by physical trainings only. Araki wrote that even Hamonusers can reach stands, but in very rare cases after hard work. Interesting what is the ability of Yoma's stand
Well, yeah. It's a revenge match, to settle a grudge which he has been holding. After a match he considers fair, he intends for said grudge to be resolved, win or lose. That's the idea behind a proper duel. If you win, you've proven yourself the better man. If you lose, you were bested on even ground and have to accept that you are the lesser and have therefore not been wronged at all. Trial by combat. That's the idea, on paper. In practice, not so much. Especially against any of the notoriously petty Greek gods.
I don't hink a lot of people understand how horrifying someone able to run at 21 kmph and then redirect, throw a 20kg weight hard enough to break commercial glass, and then proceed to break 3 fingers while also still running is, that is probably the highest physical feat a non halon user has pulled in this series besides Jonathan himself
About the discussion if Hermes is a stand or not: We can speculate that god=stand. Not because of the egyptian gods in part 3, since in part 3 the stands had their names named by tarot, and because of that most people can say that those are just stands with gods names, and not really gods. But in this scene Yoma notice that Heaven's door used his power against him, so we could say that Yoma posses stand powers because of Hermes, and subjectively say that Hermes can be considered a stand originated by the real greek god
Only JoJo can make running on a treadmill entertainment.

Rohan is natty
Plotarmoroids
mangaka vs god 💀
Interesting what is the ability of Yoma's stand
muscles. He raise up the muscle endurance as I understood
It wasn't a stand, he was a greek god. This could mean gods can see stands, so maybe Kars could too.

Legit loses and gets a grudge on Rohan*
“We must not hold grudges against each other after this”
Oh yeah that’s rich coming from the guy specifically calling this a “revenge Match”

I mean he is an avatar of the Greek god of muscles and speed so it’s not entirely unnatural.
Rohan is running 25 km while explaining how heaven's door work and speaks frequently without catching a breath
I think he was talking in his mind, that's why the other guy didn't responded or noticed any of those words
And why show he was talking in reality when he was just talking in his mind? Cause that look more cool and fun
Non stand users can see the book on them
