  • In this video, I showcase the beautiful stray animals from different parts of Turkey including both in Istanbul and Cappadocia.
    Stray cats and dogs share a beautiful connection with the citizens of Turkey as they share the city together and roam the streets both during the day and night.
    Turkish citizens take care of the stray animals by feeding them plenty of food and also making sure they are medically treated from any disease.
    Islamically, cats also have significance
    In Islam, cats are viewed as holy animals. Above all, they are admired for their cleanliness. They are thought to be ritually clean which is why they're allowed to enter homes and even mosques. According to authentic narrations, one may make ablution for prayer with the same water that a cat has drunk from.

      Stray is probably a more accurate way to refer to them, as they aren’t really wild or feral, given their comfort level around humans. And they’re definitely not domesticated.

    I saw it in the video of Speed. He had a 20 year old stray dog. The whole city took care of a dog for 20 years. The dog was not afraid of anyone. He refused the offered food because he was full. An amazing culture.

    When my friends came to visit me from Australia they were so surprised that we have so many fat cats and dogs, i was surprised that they were surprised, i thought everywhere had fat strays. Years later i watched a video about turkey's strays and only then i've realised this was kind of a unique situation for turkey. Most of the dogs are spayed and vaccinated by municipalities, they have a tag on their ears and i think they are chipped now. For cats it's harder, there are so many. Dogs might look intimating but since they are socialised with people since they are pups they are friendly. I had dog bodyguards every time i get drunk, if you talk to them and pet them they will follow you to your home. I can't imagine a life without them.

      @@poisonedh They dont care? You kidding? Don't you have shelters in your country? What do you do about all those animals in shelters to show them your care? They are put down after nobody decides to adopt them. At least these people do their best to show the love and mercy they deserve. I don't think there is another community that takes care of strays as brilliantly as Turkish people do. Also, I belive Turkish stray cats and dogs live a much better life than most pets in Europe where they live a confined life.

      I live in istanbul and the only time I've seen a rat (not including pet rats) in my entire life was when I was in countryside and my grandmas cat caught one lol. Most people in cities never come across rats at all. Unfortunately a lot of stray cats also mean less birds for some territories. The population of pigeons in my neighbourhood diminished and there are actually none now due to the increase of cats and more resilient other bird species (like seagulls and crows)

    Heres something you may find interesting. :)
    The name of my country has nothing to do with the interesting and delicious bird ''turkey''......
    .....but the name of the bird does have a connection with the name of my country, let me explain. :)
    Name of my country has always been Türkiye, it's been known as such since around the 1200's.
    The name it self has a suffix, '' -iye '', that is Turk-iye, where the -iye suffix means 'land of/belonging to',
    just like the Latin suffix of '' -ia '', which exists in such country names like
    Austr-ia, Austral-ia, Latv-ia, Roman-ia etc etc again meaning 'land of/belonging to'.
    Many would remember the country Czechoslovak-ia which changed it's name to Czech Republic and a few years ago changed that to Czechia (that is Czech-ia).
    The Latin suffix -ia probably originates from Turkish -iye as Turkish is much older, ancient Turkish been over ten thousand years old.
    Spelled in different languages in different ways to phonetically resemble '' Türkiye ''
    we got various spellings like;
    Turquía (in Spanish),
    Turchia (in Italian),
    Turquie (in French) and
    Turkey (in English)
    all trying to resemble the pronounciation of ''Turk-ia'' thus Turkiye.
    Mind you this was way before the animal we currently know as 'turkey'' was found by the europeans when they explored the north americas. The bird was first sent to europe from north americas in the year 1519, so up until that point there was no bird named 'turkey'....
    ...they came across the bird and thought it was a specie of the fowl/chicken they had been buying from the country of Turkiye at the time, so they named the bird ''Turkey Fowl'' meaning ''Turkish Chicken''.....
    ....just like how a dog breed is known as German Shepherd (because it's from Germany), American Bulldog, British Terrier, Greek Harehound etc etc.
    In time you don't get to call the Greek Harehound as simply as ''Greek''; or you don't call the British Terrier as ''British''; or the German Shepherd as ''German'', but in time the Turkish Fowl started to be called just ''Turkey'' and later ''turkey'', and has been going on for hundreds of years.
    Now in modern times, this is causing confusion, especially when we have people across the world unable to point to their own country on the map, this ''confusion over the naming'' needed to be corrected.
    So my country decided to rectify this confusion that has been going on for so long and corrected the name to Türkiye, which it always was. Basically we didn't change the name of our country, we changed the mistake made in the English language. : )
    So, there's some tid bit information for you to have a great day, if you read upto this point you have a great night too, ohh just have a wonderfull life. : )
    Best wishes. ;)

    I'd be fine with it IF they got regular veterinary care, along with spay/neuter services, perhaps by periodic rounds from a vet tech, funded by municipal taxes. If the people that live there are nice enough to try to feed the animals and be nice to them, but they aren't responsible enough to control their population, then they should be OK with funding proper care with their tax money.

    • @Yorumcu948
      @Yorumcu948 2 месяца назад

      We do that already genius. Our municipal animal control services collect animals like western countries but instead of send them to kill shelters, first they neuter, vaccinate and mark them, after that they put them back where they collect. Its most ethical solution actually.
