    31:47 It was Daenys Targaryen who got a vision and told his father Aenar about it. He took her daughter's words as truth and left with all the family to Dragonstone with 5 dragons and a couple of eggs (alongside the not-dragon familes of the Velaryons and Celtigars). The other Dragonrider families laughed at them for leaving. Then, 12 years later the tragedy happened in Valyria (just as Daenys had predicted) and all Valyria and its dragons disappeared. Aegon the Conqueror was born a century later (called the century of blood). It wasnt him who had a dream about the fall of Valyria.

    "Kill the boy, and let the man be born" is such a good line. I love Maester Aemon. Losing Selmy freakin' sucked, I was so mad. Especially after learning it doesn't happen in the books.

    Also wanted to add- the actor who played Selmy read the books. As such, he actually thought he was going to have more to do this season. He got the shooting dates from his agent and realized there was no way what happens in the books could be done in the time he was given. That's how he figured out he was likely being written off, SMH.

      And Dumb and Dumber said Selmys actor politely asking not to be killed off made them want to kill him off more.

      @taneshah.1260 he isn't an end game character & it's a joke about how no one is safe in the story (which is by Martin's design)

    According to interviews, the actor who plays Barrister was PISSED he was written out early. He'd read the books, so knew the part he *could* play. He talked to the Showrunners, and according to their interviews, when the actor argued so vehemently to be kept in, the 'wanted to kill him off all the more'.

    The Doom happened 100 years before Aegon the Conqueror took Westeros. Some Valyrians (Targaryens) colonized the island of Dragonstone before the Doom happened, and were therefore spared from the Doom-due to geography-and became the last of Old Valyria to survive. 100 years later they took their 3 dragons to conquer Westeros.

    • @yomamma.ismydaddy216

      the ancestors of house Valyrian (a different house besides Targaryen) also survived the doom

  • @Phizzo4real
    @Phizzo4real 5 месяцев назад +2

    Aegon the Conqueror was born centuries after the doom. Daeny the Dreamer had the vision that got the Targs out of Valyria before the doom.
    Because of the location of Dragonstone, the Targaryens were more part of Essos than Westeros. Aegon even helped fight wars in Essos. Baelerion, the black dread, had a shit ton of combat experience before the Conquest. He was the last living creature to see Valyria. So, Dragons can live for centuries.
    For more context, on the realism aspects, the Targaryens were said to be chased out of Valyria due to some misdeeds and it was just luck that they missed the doom. Valyria had outposts, and Dragonstone was one of those outposts for one of the DragonLords.

    There are two things i find silly about dragonglass.
    First, Sam killed a white walker with a dragonglass dagger and everyone takes for granted that this works all the time. How can they tell it's a property of dragonglass itself and not something about this particular dagger (a spell or something) ? How can they tell it was not a vulnerability of this particular white walker?
    Second, they never considered to use dragonglass tip and ranged weapons like crossbows.

    I wouldn't worry about the Selmy thing. A whole lot of stuff was thrown out from the books that would have had a way bigger impact. Lady Stoneheart...

    Yeah so Blake is wrong. The doom happened way before Aegon Targaryen conquered Westeros. But Aegon's ancestors survived the doom because they lived at Dragonstone.

    My only complaint is that Valyria is supposed to be this fire-riddled, creature-infested smoldering ruin. You should not be able to sail there. It is believed Princess Aerea flew Balerion there and that's where he received the injuries that ultimately killed him. She also was infected by the fire worms that would infect the slaves of the Valyrian mines. They should not have been able to go there. Just my two cents.

  • @subroy7123
    @subroy7123 6 месяцев назад +2

    "Valyria" sure D&D, sure. You can just sail to Valyria. This was the problem of cutting JonCon (so many cuts from the novels turned this show bad, and this is one of them), now Tyrion doesn't have any motivation during his entire journey. He is not getting his villain moment turning fAegon against Dany, the incredibly creepy Bridge of Dreams scene (which seems to be MADE to be adapted to screen) isn't here. So they have to keep the audience attention by including Valyria in there.

    “I like Stannis’ speech to Shireen better. This one doesn’t make me tear up at all” had me dying
    And yes the way they did Barristan Selmy AND that actor
    - MESSED up.
    Also - when Blake imagined what Grey Worms breath smelled like after 3 days
    That mimics my train of thought. My friends are always annoyed by me and my practical considerations about films and TV scenes. I am always “spoiling the moment”

    0 respect? They did create the greatest show of all time and 5.5 greatest seasons. If GRRM finished the story in time then it would have been great. They are expert adapters and ehh writers.

      Greatest show of all time? I'm sure the Sopranos or the Wire or Breaking Bad would have something to say about that. And those shows had writers who could actually write and didn't need to adapt other peoples works.
