There was a September reprint for 151, I didn’t get any allocation from my distributor. I “thought” there might be way more product that hit the market but didn’t see it, and prices are spiking. This set has been insanely popular across the board vs evolving skies and other sets where people want just the chase cards. Everyone wants the 151 master set
yeah, i posted in a discord that 151 wasn't a one card chase set and got laughed at. its really not, people are chasing EVERYTHING for the master set. (obviously Charizard is the big chase as its the rarest.)
Yea pretty much EVERY SINGLE pull i ever got from 151 is dinged up or chipped in the back right out the pack. Granted, a few came from tins and the corners take a beating no matter what, but 151 has been unkind.

I opened exactly 100 boosters of 151 when the set came out, and I got zero SIRs. According to this data, I should have gotten about 3. Everyone wants to do a binder of this set, THAT is where the demand is coming from in my opinion. Its gen 1, what did everyone do as a kid with gen 1? finish a binder of it of course. This set pulled in people fond of 1st gen back to the hobby just as strongly as the lockdown did in my opinion. -Possible god packs -Only english pokemon set to feature all 151 pokemon within one set -Only english pokemon set order to also align with pokedex order -Its gen 1 -Did I mention its gen 1?
I disagree. Yes, demand for 151 is probably higher than most other sets because of the amount of childhood collectors it brought back to the hobby, but demand is mostly being driven by fomo investors and scalpers. The amount of forum posts, youtube vids, and sales listings showcasing "investors"/scalpers' sealed stock is enough evidence to me that demand is somewhat being artificially inflated. Couple this with the fact that most the major retailers/distributors are looking only at their bottom line instead of the desires of collectors, allowing people to load literal pallets of product onto a dolly and buy every single one, and not to mention retailers price hiking. If, in an ideal world, everyone ripped the product they purchased you would see that we would probably have 151 on the shelves.

Pokémon KNOWS that distributors are keeping the prices high and racking in the $. That’s why we’ve already seen a “reprint/restock”with all the local stores like Walmart bestbuy ect
Exactly, LGS’s scalp the hell out of stuff like this and then get upset when the game company doesn’t appreciate it and take the stock DTC or through big box. Then its the pity party because they cant get over market from their customers and get stock when things go back to normal…shouldnt have been greedy and price gouge your customers…i just wish they would do it to distributors also

1 big difference i think is missed between the umbreon and charzard v comparison is the fact that 151 charzard has a cool art design that shows the evolution like no other i have the full 151 set and it so cool to put all the cards together and see the art all together

No it is not. You guys love to cry market manipulation anytime the prices go up on a set that is in high demand and is constantly being ripped and shipped all over whatnot, RUclips, eBay live and fanatics. It would require millions of dollars and a humongous conspiracy for this to be market manipulation. It's not. It's organic demand.
We can all agree. If this set doesn't get a reprint, which it most likely will, it will be just unprecedented what the prices will do. Lots of adults with big bank accounts want to collect these products, the sealed, make master sets, slabs, etc.
Here’s why I think 151 and Evolving Skies is a fair comparison: the distribution of demand. 151 has the 1st Gen Starter lines and Pikachu - that’s 10 desirable cards (not including FAs) likely to hold demand over time. Evolutions had this with Eevee-lutions. It’s the only other set I can think of where there are so many chase cards that people will want *as an evolution line*, and 151 has the nostalgia factor, to boot.
It's literally supply and demand. Every card is going up, that's NOT manipulation LOL There is no product available, yet there is HUGE demand. Obviously prices go up when supply can't meet demand. Sheesh
right? Any time a set ever spikes everyone screams manipulation. Like...have people tried to get 151 at retailers in the last few months? It sells out FAST. Demand is high
People keep acting like any reprint will crash prices.. there “was” a small Sept reprint. The Zard has permanently increased as supply dried up and people realize it’s a tough PSA 10… reprint won’t do much to alter its trajectory, and sure it will still fluctuate up and down.
@@jordand1554 I understand the point your making and yes pokemon seems to continue to be an outlier in regards to SIR reprints. But EVERY OTHER TCG that gets a reprint crashes the price. One Piece, MTG, Yugioh, ETC. So again while pokemon may be an outlier in some cases its not always. SIRs clearly retain a lot of their value despite reprints but thats not the case for other cards in the games. Like Iono...... People believed that 151 was going to be like Crown Zenith which is still getting reprints and is Still affecting the prices. Outside of market manipulation.
The Data rate for Brilliant Stars is weird. I was pulling so many Alts. It was crazy. And I opened far less. Almost similar to broken Evolving Skies Print Wave 1. (Evolving you'd sometimes get 2 alts per box)
I shit you not I told my lady to pick out an ETB, she digs through them and finally settles on one. I let her rip the first pack and what’s she get? The Zard. Chase ended with the first pack!
What is happening in the USA now with 151 happened here in Italy already few months ago, and the prices of singles never went down they're keep growing. There was a small restock here in the 4th of October and people woke up at 4-5 am and bought all the products at retail for resell. It was over in all Italy in just few hours. All the world is crezy for 151
I dont think this is "manipulation". A lot of my 151 cards and product has been selling like crazy on tcgplayer and it's individual buyers from all over the US. I think this is just the market demanding more. Great set, love to see it
I think its difficult to pull because its difficult to get a hold of to even open packs. I still can't see the pokemon company not doing a reprint for 151 but they sure are waiting a long time. Hopefully we'll get a reprint soon. Crossing my fingers.
Was the latest releases of 151 bundles and product not a reprint..? There’s scarlet and violet code cards in there and back in the old 151 product there were the swsh code cards. How is this one not a reprint? To add onto this, is it possible that pokemon entirely did not give 151 allocations to distributions because they’re gouging game stores in order to get it and as a result adding to the price of 151 rather than making it available
I have a lot of thoughts on this. It’s possible that it was a reprint that didn’t hit distros and only hit big box stores, but if that’s the case, it was incredibly small. If they are gouging LGS, they aren’t doing it right. A lot of the product is getting marked up at distros or being bought out at msrp by the 3rd market and scalped anyways. They would need to figure out a way to limit purchases properly, or avoid monitors that Immediately trigger individuals who Solely have intent to resell. Whatever they are doing, it isn’t working. At least that’s my opinion
@@DannyPhantumpThis! It's hard (for me at least) not to be extremely cynical at Pokemon Company International for the 151 shenanigans. There is no way a booster bundle of this product should be selling at double MSRP, much less the other sealed products. It's ridiculous and indicative of greed on all interested parties. If Pokemon Company really wanted to set things right, they would do a mass English reprint and flood the market, but that won't happen. Greed rules here.
The best thing TCGPlayer did this year was add those quantity sold bars to their charts to show the relationship between price and number of cards selling. There is no shortage of available supply for these singles. Quantities available for sale will continue to grow to meet price and will eventually bring these prices back down to a new floor. Especially with beginning of next years sets to shift demand and interest. Basic supply and demand activity is easier to read with a high volume, popular set like 151. Great analysis Danny! Danny, you can't compare pull rates with sets that are sprawled across several products and have booster boxes like crazy. 151 is only found in 151 packaging. 151 has more than likely had a way less print run, thus making it harder to obtain.
A reprint would be such a cash cow. Maybe they are letting the hype and demand rise into other sets before they release more. Look how much CZ we are seeing…
Those bundles were at Gamestop a couple weekends ago for $36. I had 2 in my hand, checked my bank account, and put both of them back on the shelf. Man was that hard to do. A week prior to that they had poster collection boxes at dollar general for $15... I definitely bought a couple of those. Easier to swallow $15 a pop and $5 pack.
Last December 2023 I got back into the hobby from a 151 UPC. My daughter pulled the Charizard ex and I was hooked again! I got mine from the Tiktok shop for $70
151 Booster bundles are 50ea. 8.33 a pack x 236 = $1966 to have a chance at a psa 10. Psa 10 charizard is hard to pull. The cards usually aren't centered or have some nicks and dings. Plus the packs are so rare. It took us 3 display cases and 5 upcs before we found a charizard.
Love the videos love the energy. Keeps me focused ha. I do agree it's a stretch to compare 151 to ES given the pull rates, but I do feel it's interesting to consider the abundance there was/is of ES vs 151, a which isn't creating tougher "pull rates" statistically, but the scarcity of 151 is creating a tougher pull for the zard in a more literal manner so to speak. Idk wtf I'm saying. Anyways... Yea I feel it's a mix of buy outs/manipulation/fomo/hundreds of thousands if not more people coming into the hobby due to this nostalgic set.
Being in the market for nearly 4 years now and what I’ve seen and learned about I would say it’s fairly likely that a reprint will probably happen atleast for etb’s. I only got a case of etb’s left from release and really thinking about selling it. With a year left in rotation I don’t see Pokémon letting regular etb’s stay around 100 for long. Unless they would rather get rid of the rest of their product for other SV sets this holiday season. I don’t know how the numbers match up but would say this idea is a low possibility.
No doubt in my mind they have a Reprint for the holidays. I could be wrong, but Pokemon has been better at noticing these prices and making them available to players. Also, it would be a huge missed revenue opportunity to not do so
But for the Charizard from 151 you have to consider that packs are more expensive than Brilliant Stars and Evo Skies ever were. Making it harder to pull per dollar which is how it should be done.
I found it interesting that PokeRev put out 2 videos opening 151 within a few days of each other and at the exact same time someone went onto ebay and purchased dozens and dozens of the Charizard card overnight right around the 1st video coming out. Then the prices skyrocketed.
Prices sky rocketed before Pokerev and Danny released their videos. People in other places pointed out the increase before any content creators made videos.
I just bought 10 booster bundles from PC a month ago. I didn’t hit crap. Best card I pulled was a full art. Hit rates have gotten insane. Not even worth opening anymore.
Got 2 booster bundles from PC last week and got a demi god pack of squirtle line, mind you I’ve only opened 18 packs of 151 overall and got 2 full art EX as well
it's gambling....You could get a hit in every pack, or no hits at all. That's happened to me with bundles and ETBs before. This ain't Japanese with guaranteed hits. That being said, just limit yourself and buy the singles haha
Also you guys have to noticed that the charizard 199/165 art work is one that show the charizard more in hits element. The Umbreum is not really in its environment. Or at least not in the traditional way. The charizard one looks like you (the trainer) is just at a canyon and happen to see the charizard flying by.
I think they'll do a reprint. They would be silly not to with how hot it is they know just as well as we all do that shelves would empty fast. I think theyre waiting to see how popular surging sparks turns out to be so they dont potentially hurt sales from that set or others.
151 is the only set that I have ever mastered. I know a lot of the hype for this set is the nostalgia of gen 1 but I also think a lot of people want to master this set because it is the only set that goes in Pokedex order. So you can actually "catch them all" just like in the games. I really hope they do this for all the generations.
If the ETB is close to $150 and UPC near $200 you better have some pulls worth some $$ in it, otherwise that is one expensive cardboard box?! Got one sealed on the self, and about to bust into another one today. As more keep them sealed , the value of whats inside will continue to climb. We have seen this in other collectible markets before, IF Nintendo is paying any attention, they will bank on the opportunity and do a reprint closer to Christmas, crash the collector market on it. And then I'll get to watch 50 channels break into their "sealed investments". Love the videos.
Its easier to pull yes, but you dont take in consideration that its no booster box like other sets. So fewer cards in each "box" means easier pullrates
There is a great chance of no more reprint, and a tendency of a restock on what PCI have left at their warehouse. Despite of their recent purchase of a printing company, they can’t meet the demand of the shiny cardboard of 151, more recent sets, and future sets to come. Something will have to give. This could be the reason why some sets are short printed. The cheap 151 packs are long gone now and look toward Surging Sparks, as this bad boy may have limited quantities as well.
But then don’t they need something to sell for the holidays and wouldn’t the 151 be a perfect time for that? But then again they probably would’ve announced reprints by now because you can’t really have people pre-ordering these things in November and then have them there by December 25. But also, I know nothing about how cards are printed so I could be extremely Wrong.

Only one difference 151 dosent have booster box’s..and I do believe the pull rates changed since release.. I think it def keeps gets restocked, but huge reprint? I doubt it…
I was just talking about a 151 reprint with a store owner a few minutes ago, lol. I kind of doubt we'll get a reprint. The booster 6 pack box is at $60 for Manhattan but I got one at $48 at my neighborhood store

Personally I've opened tons of packs and pulled no zard, most was the Venu 😅. Also I just finished my master set with Pikachu IR being the last card I needed.

It's the "SUNzard" like "MOONbreon" not charizard ex anymore. More people doing master set 151 vs master set evolving which make the charizard rarer than moonbreon. So because far more people are locking it in a binder and wants it in a psa 10.

Its adults who grew up with the kanto pokemon who are adding the additional pressure and they love all the 151 pokemon so they are predisposed to wanting the master set, which means a lot of people are after all the cards, thus a lot of charizards are locked in to some dads binder. Thus the charizard collectors are buying from a far smaller pool than the pull rate implies.

I have both master sets of evolving skies and 151 and I have sold 3 Charizards I have pulled and kept one and only pulled 1 moonbreon. I have also opened way more packs of evolving skies vs 151.
Manipulation to a point. Like SWSH was manipulated but NEVER returned to original price. For example PSA 10 Lugia V alt art before "manipulation" was floating around 180-220. After manipulation it was 380. After the "crash" it went down to 280-340. So it will crash but never return to its original "agreed upon" starting point. so that Charizard will never be 130 dollars raw and never be 220 as psa 10.
I have a charizard ex IR, but it has ding in the top right corner. I was thinking now would be the time to try to sell it and get something out of it, but I also don’t have another card to replace in my master set.
Why 151 is the dominant set: 1) All the original 151 Pokémon are in a single set for the first time, EVER in the TCG. 2) The set is in dex order and not the traditional type order, making it a desirable binder collection for the OCD collectors out there. 3) The return of Kadabra after decades without him in the TCG because of Uri Gellar having his heart warmed up to Pokémon because of his grand kids, so he relinquished his lawsuit victory. 4) Long lasting legacy pokemon with fan bases. 5) Amazing art, starters all getting illustration arts which are also connected thematically. 6) It's the only set that didn't fall victim to the gimmick of the era, no silly chandelier hats. 7) It's a special set, therefore more limited availability, therefore more scarcity. Everyone spent the past year sleeping on it, chopping it up to nostalgia & pandering. Eventually they came to realize, it's the most substantial set of all Scarlet & Violet. So now everyone's playing catch up to get the set.
You’d think with the holidays coming they’d drop a load , but it’s concerning that it’s crickets for distributors 🤷♂️. I think it’s clear by this point, pokemon isnt operating like they did during SwSh. There’s been ALOT of restocks…. They just come fast and furious and sell out in minutes or hours.
I feel like the 151 zard may be outperforming the brilliant stars zard specifically because it goes together with the charmander/charmeleon for the full evo set

If the Zard was same price as Moonbreon, then your argument is more logical that it isn't as deserving. The pull rate is proportional to price: 231 / 1080 compared to $208 / $1015. With PSA10 pop rate being worse for Zard, seems like actually it should be higher than it is.
You can’t say how many packs it takes that’s how many packs it may have taken you but sometimes it differs I remember one lady just kept pulling umbreon back to back on her live. I pulled leafeon in my first ETB I ever bought of that set
English 151 print quality is crap, though. People like 10’s. That will inevitably increase the price of the chase cards, Charizard included. Moonbreon has twice the chance to get a PSA 10 vs the SIR Charizard.

Bought one SunZard at $117 before all of this happened, and the same day i pulled the SunZard, and a Charmeleon IR in a booster bundle. Lol

I got a pc etb back in December when i finally realized no reprint was coming. Glad i got one for $90 for the collection.
I sold my psa 10 sunzard for $360 back in august........ RIP Thats the gamble though. I still think were going to get an english reprint

@@jordand1554 I understand the point your making and yes pokemon seems to continue to be an outlier in regards to SIR reprints. But EVERY OTHER TCG that gets a reprint crashes the price. One Piece, MTG, Yugioh, ETC. So again while pokemon may be an outlier in some cases its not always. SIRs clearly retain a lot of their value despite reprints but thats not the case for other cards in the games. Like Iono...... People believed that 151 was going to be like Crown Zenith which is still getting reprints and is Still affecting the prices. Outside of market manipulation.
The Data rate for Brilliant Stars is weird.
I was pulling so many Alts. It was crazy. And I opened far less. Almost similar to broken Evolving Skies Print Wave 1. (Evolving you'd sometimes get 2 alts per box)

What is happening in the USA now with 151 happened here in Italy already few months ago, and the prices of singles never went down they're keep growing. There was a small restock here in the 4th of October and people woke up at 4-5 am and bought all the products at retail for resell. It was over in all Italy in just few hours. All the world is crezy for 151

I dont think this is "manipulation". A lot of my 151 cards and product has been selling like crazy on tcgplayer and it's individual buyers from all over the US. I think this is just the market demanding more. Great set, love to see it
I think its difficult to pull because its difficult to get a hold of to even open packs. I still can't see the pokemon company not doing a reprint for 151 but they sure are waiting a long time. Hopefully we'll get a reprint soon. Crossing my fingers.
This screams market manipulation to me. So glad I was able to finish my master set a couple weeks ago before this all started happening.
Here no shops sell the boosterbundles . Preorders were max 5 per shop but every shop just keeps them and lists them for double😢
Was the latest releases of 151 bundles and product not a reprint..? There’s scarlet and violet code cards in there and back in the old 151 product there were the swsh code cards. How is this one not a reprint?
To add onto this, is it possible that pokemon entirely did not give 151 allocations to distributions because they’re gouging game stores in order to get it and as a result adding to the price of 151 rather than making it available
I have a lot of thoughts on this. It’s possible that it was a reprint that didn’t hit distros and only hit big box stores, but if that’s the case, it was incredibly small.
If they are gouging LGS, they aren’t doing it right. A lot of the product is getting marked up at distros or being bought out at msrp by the 3rd market and scalped anyways.
They would need to figure out a way to limit purchases properly, or avoid monitors that

There is no way a booster bundle of this product should be selling at double MSRP, much less the other sealed products. It's ridiculous and indicative of greed on all interested parties. If Pokemon Company really wanted to set things right, they would do a mass English reprint and flood the market, but that won't happen. Greed rules here.

The best thing TCGPlayer did this year was add those quantity sold bars to their charts to show the relationship between price and number of cards selling. There is no shortage of available supply for these singles. Quantities available for sale will continue to grow to meet price and will eventually bring these prices back down to a new floor. Especially with beginning of next years sets to shift demand and interest. Basic supply and demand activity is easier to read with a high volume, popular set like 151. Great analysis Danny! I think it’s admirable that you’ve continued to educate folks on movement in the market to help them with their collection decisions. I appreciate you!

Danny, you can't compare pull rates with sets that are sprawled across several products and have booster boxes like crazy. 151 is only found in 151 packaging. 151 has more than likely had a way less print run, thus making it harder to obtain.
The vast majority of 151 is sitting in people's closets and storage facilities still sealed, like the mountains of Evolving Skies at Collectacon lol
All of the cards in 151 are going to start taking off📈
A reprint would be such a cash cow. Maybe they are letting the hype and demand rise into other sets before they release more. Look how much CZ we are seeing…

Those bundles were at Gamestop a couple weekends ago for $36. I had 2 in my hand, checked my bank account, and put both of them back on the shelf. Man was that hard to do. A week prior to that they had poster collection boxes at dollar general for $15... I definitely bought a couple of those. Easier to swallow $15 a pop and $5 pack.
i am still building my 151 master set...still got so far to go and where i am you cant find any 151 products anymore.
Last December 2023 I got back into the hobby from a 151 UPC. My daughter pulled the Charizard ex and I was hooked again! I got mine from the Tiktok shop for $70

I wanted to ask if you heard of the blue dot error on the 151 charizard ex. I have one and have seen mentions on Reddit but no videos on it
151 Booster bundles are 50ea. 8.33 a pack x 236 = $1966 to have a chance at a psa 10. Psa 10 charizard is hard to pull. The cards usually aren't centered or have some nicks and dings. Plus the packs are so rare. It took us 3 display cases and 5 upcs before we found a charizard.

I do agree it's a stretch to compare 151 to ES given the pull rates, but I do feel it's interesting to consider the abundance there was/is of ES vs 151, a which isn't creating tougher "pull rates" statistically, but the scarcity of 151 is creating a tougher pull for the zard in a more literal manner so to speak. Idk wtf I'm saying. Anyways...
Yea I feel it's a mix of buy outs/manipulation/fomo/hundreds of thousands if not more people coming into the hobby due to this nostalgic set.
The artwork does look super neat for Surging Sparks. Still have a bunch of Japanese 151 to get through but I will catch up eventually xD
Being in the market for nearly 4 years now and what I’ve seen and learned about I would say it’s fairly likely that a reprint will probably happen atleast for etb’s. I only got a case of etb’s left from release and really thinking about selling it. With a year left in rotation I don’t see Pokémon letting regular etb’s stay around 100 for long. Unless they would rather get rid of the rest of their product for other SV sets this holiday season. I don’t know how the numbers match up but would say this idea is a low possibility.
No doubt in my mind they have a Reprint for the holidays. I could be wrong, but Pokemon has been better at noticing these prices and making them available to players. Also, it would be a huge missed revenue opportunity to not do so
But for the Charizard from 151 you have to consider that packs are more expensive than Brilliant Stars and Evo Skies ever were. Making it harder to pull per dollar which is how it should be done.
I found it interesting that PokeRev put out 2 videos opening 151 within a few days of each other and at the exact same time someone went onto ebay and purchased dozens and dozens of the Charizard card overnight right around the 1st video coming out. Then the prices skyrocketed.
Prices sky rocketed before Pokerev and Danny released their videos.
People in other places pointed out the increase before any content creators made videos.
This set needs a big reprint for sure!! I can’t afford to buy much at a time but I would like to be able to have some more to keep and open. Love 151

I just bought 10 booster bundles from PC a month ago. I didn’t hit crap. Best card I pulled was a full art. Hit rates have gotten insane. Not even worth opening anymore.
Got 2 booster bundles from PC last week and got a demi god pack of squirtle line, mind you I’ve only opened 18 packs of 151 overall and got 2 full art EX as well

it's gambling....You could get a hit in every pack, or no hits at all. That's happened to me with bundles and ETBs before. This ain't Japanese with guaranteed hits. That being said, just limit yourself and buy the singles haha

Also you guys have to noticed that the charizard 199/165 art work is one that show the charizard more in hits element. The Umbreum is not really in its environment.

I think they'll do a reprint. They would be silly not to with how hot it is they know just as well as we all do that shelves would empty fast. I think theyre waiting to see how popular surging sparks turns out to be so they dont potentially hurt sales from that set or others.
151 is the only set that I have ever mastered. I know a lot of the hype for this set is the nostalgia of gen 1 but I also think a lot of people want to master this set because it is the only set that goes in Pokedex order. So you can actually "catch them all" just like in the games. I really hope they do this for all the generations.
If the ETB is close to $150 and UPC near $200 you better have some pulls worth some $$ in it, otherwise that is one expensive cardboard box?! Got one sealed on the self, and about to bust into another one today. As more keep them sealed , the value of whats inside will continue to climb. We have seen this in other collectible markets before, IF Nintendo is paying any attention, they will bank on the opportunity and do a reprint closer to Christmas, crash the collector market on it. And then I'll get to watch 50 channels break into their "sealed investments". Love the videos.
Its easier to pull yes, but you dont take in consideration that its no booster box like other sets. So fewer cards in each "box" means easier pullrates

There is a great chance of no more reprint, and a tendency of a restock on what PCI have left at their warehouse. Despite of their recent purchase of a printing company, they can’t meet the demand of the shiny cardboard of 151, more recent sets, and future sets to come. Something will have to give. This could be the reason why some sets are short printed. The cheap 151 packs are long gone now and look toward Surging Sparks, as this bad boy may have limited quantities as well.
But then don’t they need something to sell for the holidays and wouldn’t the 151 be a perfect time for that? But then again they probably would’ve announced reprints by now because you can’t really have people pre-ordering these things in November and then have them there by December 25.
But also, I know nothing about how cards are printed so I could be extremely Wrong.
2:41 distributors here are keeping the 151 bundles for themselves and selling them for 60-70+

Thankfully i got my charzard for 110 at my card shop when it was around 105 market and thank goodness i picked it up
Only one difference 151 dosent have booster box’s..and I do believe the pull rates changed since release.. I think it def keeps gets restocked, but huge reprint? I doubt it…

I was just talking about a 151 reprint with a store owner a few minutes ago, lol. I kind of doubt we'll get a reprint. The booster 6 pack box is at $60 for Manhattan but I got one at $48 at my neighborhood store

My cousin in MN been going around big box stores and DG and buying out all the 151 he could find. I'm just glad I'm sitting on 2 cases of PC etb and some products. Personally I've opened tons of packs and pulled no zard, most was the Venu 😅. Also I just finished my master set with Pikachu IR being the last card I needed.

It's the "SUNzard" like "MOONbreon" not charizard ex anymore. More people doing master set 151 vs master set evolving which make the charizard rarer than moonbreon. So because far more people are locking it in a binder and wants it in a psa 10.

Its adults who grew up with the kanto pokemon who are adding the additional pressure and they love all the 151 pokemon so they are predisposed to wanting the master set, which means a lot of people are after all the cards, thus a lot of charizards are locked in to some dads binder. Thus the charizard collectors are buying from a far smaller pool than the pull rate implies.

I have both master sets of evolving skies and 151 and I have sold 3 Charizards I have pulled and kept one and only pulled 1 moonbreon. I have also opened way more packs of evolving skies vs 151.

Went to an LGS that was selling the Zard for 109. They had 2. I bought one for my girlfriend. Wishing i got both now lol

Manipulation to a point. Like SWSH was manipulated but NEVER returned to original price. For example PSA 10 Lugia V alt art before "manipulation" was floating around 180-220. After manipulation it was 380. After the "crash" it went down to 280-340. So it will crash but never return to its original "agreed upon" starting point. so that Charizard will never be 130 dollars raw and never be 220 as psa 10.
Glad I finished my 151 master set. Only set I’ve ever completed and only set I probably ever will.
I have a charizard ex IR, but it has ding in the top right corner. I was thinking now would be the time to try to sell it and get something out of it, but I also don’t have another card to replace in my master set.

Why 151 is the dominant set:
1) All the original 151 Pokémon are in a single set for the first time, EVER in the TCG.
2) The set is in dex order and not the traditional type order, making it a desirable binder collection for the OCD collectors out there.
3) The return of Kadabra after decades without him in the TCG because of Uri Gellar having his heart warmed up to Pokémon because of his grand kids, so he relinquished his lawsuit victory.
4) Long lasting legacy pokemon with fan bases.
5) Amazing art, starters all getting illustration arts which are also connected thematically.
6) It's the only set that didn't fall victim to the gimmick of the era, no silly chandelier hats.
7) It's a special set, therefore more limited availability, therefore more scarcity.
Everyone spent the past year sleeping on it, chopping it up to nostalgia & pandering. Eventually they came to realize, it's the most substantial set of all Scarlet & Violet. So now everyone's playing catch up to get the set.
Era gimmicks typically age extremely well

You’d think with the holidays coming they’d drop a load , but it’s concerning that it’s crickets for distributors 🤷♂️. I think it’s clear by this point, pokemon isnt operating like they did during SwSh. There’s been ALOT of restocks…. They just come fast and furious and sell out in minutes or hours.
I feel like the 151 zard may be outperforming the brilliant stars zard specifically because it goes together with the charmander/charmeleon for the full evo set

If the Zard was same price as Moonbreon, then your argument is more logical that it isn't as deserving. The pull rate is proportional to price: 231 / 1080 compared to $208 / $1015. With PSA10 pop rate being worse for Zard, seems like actually it should be higher than it is.
So many content creators HATE that 151 is the new Evolving Skies for some reason haha. They put too much of their money in TM and PE. 😂

You can’t say how many packs it takes that’s how many packs it may have taken you but sometimes it differs I remember one lady just kept pulling umbreon back to back on her live. I pulled leafeon in my first ETB I ever bought of that set
English 151 print quality is crap, though. People like 10’s. That will inevitably increase the price of the chase cards, Charizard included. Moonbreon has twice the chance to get a PSA 10 vs the SIR Charizard.
