Don't feel bad Ron. I'm with ya, and I still love all the old rock in roll of that era...The First Edition wasn't the hard Rock in Roll of the Vietnam Era that I usually loved and my dad hated for me to listen to. I don't know what he hated so much, since he was a Korean and a Vietnam Veteran. I think it was that I was his only daughter loved it, and the guys with long "hippy" hair! :)

Very talented individuals. As a group, they rock.
These guys and solo Kenny, have been signing to me my whole life.
    The Ballad of Calico.
I know every word to every song. Have since I was a young girl.
Without a doubt a legend in music.

I'm very fascinated by this documentary. I was 2 years old in 1972 when this was made so this is like peering into a vortex to see a different world. I have become very interested in The First Edition. I had an 8 track tape of them in the mid 70s when I was 4 and 5 years old. I'm now reintroduced to them and I've been doing a major 'deep dive' into their career...streaming every album both here on RUclips and Spotify and reading everything I can find about them on the internet....I'm going to be watching this documentary more and more...I really love their chemistry and interaction with each other. I find it to be a shame that Kenny went solo....It put an end to a very interesting group. Thankful this is on the internet.

I loved Kenny Rogers. I was in all my glory as a very young woman and in 1980 I got to sit front row Center at Kenny's concert out in CA. He had just gone solo. I am now reading a book on Kenny Rogers. He will/is missed even though it has only been a few months since his passing.

The First Edition was made up of not only superb performers. But also very nice people, I've had the great fortune to be invited and to meet Terry, Mary, Mickey, Gene Lorenzo, Thelma Camacho and Mike Settle at Terry's house for a First Edition reunion. I'm going again in September. Last year they did a little concert for everyone. This year their going to private concert for us focusing on songs from the Ballad of Calico. They still sound great.

The First Edition were my all time favourite group back in their day. I grew up outside of Montreal, Quebec and looked forward every week to see Rollin on our CTV Channel. Such wonderful talent and music. Got to meet them at a concert in Vermont in 1974. Bought all their albums. Calico, by far, my favourite. Such incredible talent - their music is timeless. Thank you for uploading these pieces. Please pass along to Terry, Calico was and is MAGICAL. !!!!! Would love to see it digitally remastered - a treasure of work. Would love to share now with my daughter, who is a classical musician.

It was October 1970, at Western Carolina University. The "First Edition" had just performed a wonderful concert. I had no idea who the man I was standing next to was or who he would become. I should have gotten His autograph. At 54:54 The camera man gave me full face coverage and stayed on me for almost a minute. I have no idea why he did but I can see myself at age 17 on You Tube any time I like. Magical. Visit me at Boshentang.

Russell was my uncle, but I never met him. His sons (my cousins) are like brothers to me though. He (Russell) passed away a few years ago; actually maybe like 10 years ago. My aunt sang with The Back Porch Majority. She passed in 2012.

Cool doc. You can see the future. Rogers saying he doesn't fit in with the younger generations music/style. The band not really doing that well and soon to end.
Hope but for most failure. for one crazy success.
You can see rogers great voice ideas.
The fun and boredom of the road. the apparent hostility to long hair etc.
I like the confederate flags in it .
A story about a group, probably, out of proportioned celebrated in thoise days because more acceptable to a middle age(30 plus) audience. They were on tv more then deserving also because of silly circles in hollywood that latched on to them.
Still one wishes one was doing that, or did that, and seems a better world in some ways.
However music is about popularity or its a wasted life.

No disrespect to Mary Arnold, however, can you believe they skipped on having Karen Carpenter.
But that’s OK. Things worked out pretty good for Karen anyway. Until the stupid anorexic thing got a hold of her. Dammit.
