- I'm going to show you a $15.00 catch Basin that I think costs homeowners thousands of dollars. I'm going to explain why. I'm also going to show you the very best drill bits to use. The reason why I think this 15 catch Basin costs homeowners thousands (in my professional opinion after being a contractor for over 35 years) is that this little sump area for sediment isn't going to get you far. You're going to end up with clogged lines because there's just not enough sump area to collect sediment. So the sediment is going to collect in the pipe. It's simple - you don't have very much area. When you don't have a lot of area you're not going to displace much sediment.

I have a friend who's building a 24'X40' pole barn. I almost wouldn't consider it a pole barn because it's going to match his house with a shingled roof, siding, and even stone on the front. He was worried about water because we had some major rain after the location was escavated and rain was going to be a problem. I mentioned French drains like I have and how I learned so much from this channel. Well two weeks has passed and he's getting ready to order 200' of 4" knife cut high octane, tape, and double punch fabric, and some high octane solid pipe. We are in Michigan and your company was great about looking over his plans and suggesting what he needed. I assured him it was worth every penny and I would help him install it just like I learned here. He shouldn't have to ever touch it again besides the occasional clean out. Thanks again

Is there such a thing as “too big” of a sump area? I really like what I see here but I wonder if water will make it to the outlet when there is only a slow trickle of water. I’m thinking about snow thaws and very light rain. Would hate to run my downspout to this basin only to watch the water leach back into the ground too early in my run. Thanks for the fantastic videos and products!
A sump holds debris. No sump results in a clogged line. Weigh it out in your mind, water in the sump or clogged line. When a line clogs damage is done. Water leaching from a catch badin sump never caused damage to a homes foundation or flooded a basement. BTW, the sump holds 1 gallon of sediment. When the outdoor temperatures go from freezing to warm temperatures, it thaws out like everything else.

You need to get into the big boxes. Too bad you couldnt meet a contact to get you in lowes or home depot. That would be awesome. You know thats where people are buying their stuff including the black pipe that smells like food to the animals.

I love your channel and I love your products... have been buying since I found you on youtube. The only thing I see that is a bit off-putting is that you seem to make videos (only a few) that are in direct contrast to the Apple Drains guy... it's a bit tasteless and unfortunate. Will keep watching and buying, but integrity, decorum and etiquette with respect to another guy's channel (who is clearly not as good as you); don't need to shove his d&*k in the dirt to spite.
