    You are most welcome. The best way to fix your problem is to use mirror.
    If you do noy have large mirror then use window as mirror. stand in front of it and see your self swing. This way you will see how you swing and correct your swing. I did it a lot when I was young. Lee

    Thank you for good question. To win a match, accuricy, power, deception are important factors. What I am doing and traching is using less arm rotation and more wriist/finger power action as in this way the shot can be changed at the last moment and please remember that there are times you can not use arm rotation skill when you are much under pressure. I am not against using the rotation but I am using it much less and wrist skill can be also used far better when under pressure. Lee

  • @coachingbadminton
    @coachingbadminton  11 лет назад

    You bhave a very eyes to see all that. You are right body, arm, left arm, feet movement, shoulder movement all add the power. When the arm rotate, wrist will be used. What I stess is less arm rotation and add more wrist action. In normal shot, arm lotation will be involved but I prefer to use it less to make shot more deceptive. What you discribe is very standard ways of hitting clears and smash. The way I prefer is bit different by stessing different part of body more then others. Lee

    The important thing is to hit shuttlecock fast, deceptively and be able to hit without mistakes. The skill has to be developed for that purpose. Many players are focusing the theory and lose the practical aspect. Lee

    Yes it would be better to make impact point higher, there are three ways to jump. 1. switch feet and same time jump it is used in normal time. Get to the position and then jump by two feet together, it is used when you have time/opponent lift high. 3 side jump, it is used you you have not much time but you want smash before opponent is ready for it. Lee

  • @coachingbadminton
    @coachingbadminton  12 лет назад

    Yes the timing of hitting is different if you use racket cover. It is used to improve the strength not the timing. I can see why you worry about it but based on my experience, it does not really damage the timing. Please try that is best way to find out your self. Lee

    Try to get behind shuttlecock (Make the impact point more in front of your body and try to hit more flat then too steep. Lee

    It is different depending on the space you have and the kind of shot you would like to do. If you do check smash then you use your wrist only 10-20% but if you do full power smash and you have much time and space then you should use your wrist to the end until it locks. If you do attack clear/smash type of clear then you use wrist in full with less arm action. You are most welcome and I hope it answers your question otherwise please fell free to come back. Lee

  • @coachingbadminton
    @coachingbadminton  11 лет назад

    You are most welcome.I hope you find the right way to do it and improve your smash. Lee

  • @coachingbadminton
    @coachingbadminton  12 лет назад

    Yes sure you can do that. When I was young, I did put sand in and did practice but do it carefully. Lee

  • @coachingbadminton
    @coachingbadminton  12 лет назад

    I am not against the skill and I do agree with it. The difference I am making is two.1. how much to use the skill is different to the situation. Under pressure, it has to be used much less but it can be used more when there is time. 2. Many unexperienced players got the skill wrong and ruinning their badminton. In backhand and forehand the skill has to be used about 70-80% but there are 20-30% badminton skills which can be done without it.

    The advice I'll give might seem gimmicky at first but it worked for me!
    I advise you to go and look at Lin Dan's smashes. His power seems to come from nowhere, as if he is just "clipping" down the shuttle with his forearm.
    I spent about 2 weeks trying to replicate this in the mid-court area and it has naturally worked into my smash without taking out any of the technique I already know.
    It has helped put in the angle to my smash that I know a lot of people lack, without sacrificing power

    This technique of practicing with head cover is working great for me. It is helping me not rushing into the shot. In addition, the clears are reaching the back court. Great tip, dear Lee. When I am under pressure, I am still rushing into the shot, but I can see the difference now myself.

    I think players chould be able to do different ways of hitting. If you look at a match there are a lot of differebnt situations. The situation you can use the rotation skill but there is time you do not have time and space to the rotation skills. I am doing the ritation skills but as I mentioned I do it may be 20%. Players should be able to taught all different ways nand be able to see strength and weakness of each skill and be able to adpt it in each situation. Lee
