- Today I'm reacting to a Swedish Hero! Hans Rosling! He was a Swedish physician, academic, and public speaker. He was a professor of international health at Karolinska Institute. He also co-founded the Gapminder Foundation. But what he was most known for were his Ted Talks and Speeches. Today we are going to take a look at a couple of these talks.

Hi! I’m David JP Phillips, an international public speaker, author and coach. Throughout my career, I have delivered over a thousand presentations and coached hundreds of people in the skill of communication. I love analyzing why we humans behave as we do and what our communication means for us in life. On this channel, I want to learn and teach everything I can through short, fun and educational videos like reaction videos, information videos and Q and As.
#HansRosling #TedTalk #PublicSpeaking
If my math teachers acted like his passion when teaching math like graphs I would be WAY more interested in math.
Yepp no doubt about it
It's always a pleasure to see David upload again, the last month was empty without his videos encouraging me, so it's quite a pleasant surprise to see this video come up :)
Thx mate, we're increasing the pace soon 👍👊
@@DavidJPPhillips Excited to see what new things we'll learn from you :)
@@DavidJPPhillips Hell yeah
I think that reacting to Stephen Hawking would be interesting. Not only was he able to cope with a fatal disability that got worse overtime, but he became one of the greatest minds of our time. Obviously the speech analysis will have to be changed up. I think that explaining how he talked and all of the challenges he faced would be a great idea. I just think that it would fit in with this channel’s themes of perseverance, and mental strength/ tactics. He is a pretty inspiring person.
Very true, he is such an inspiring person who never stop doing what he loved and what he was good at. I would say that like Davie504, he is not be using all of the 110 skills but he was the master of some of the skills he was able to execute and mostly one of the best storyteller. but can't wait for the next video.
Jesus! so much energy and enthusiasm! and zero cringe! absolutely impressive indeed!
watching this channel and this episode specifically, makes me feel young!
And I'm 24 years old btw!
What a legend! There’s a clip of Hans demonstrating the development of life expectancy vs fertility rate that I use to teach data storytelling.
I really don’t think anyone has ever done it better. Something to aspire to for all speakers!
That Netflix and chill of yours was crazy, Davie.
later that day David was eaten by a kraken. what we now see is a synth

I was just writing an essay about Hans Rosling in our Global Health class.
We used some of his videos, The magic of the washing machine, River of Myths and Debunking the Myths as resources, and also used the Gapminder site as a reference.
I wasn't even aware that he had passed away, in 2017 even.
You bring lights on a lot of his traits that made it so easy to follow his research and stories!
What a wonderful man. Thank you for introducing me to him. 💖
Surprisingly I had never heard of Hans Rosling until today. Seeing just the few clips that you shared in this video made me see why you admire him so much though. Any of his Ted Talks you would particularly recommend as a start to seeing them, or are they all so good that you could just watch through any and all of them?
Indeed my dear friend. We never know how great some people are. Thankfully David is here to show us.
For me, the best Ted Talks of his is, The Best Stats one, I was doing a communication course and they told me to listen to it. I was like I will listen some 5 minutes of it but went on to listen to all the 20 mins of that Talk.
I'd recommend his book; it is essentially a half-biography and half-non-fiction about his work, statistics and the world. It also includes his the highlights of his careeer including most astounding successes, speeches and moments.
What a great episode, I'm very glad you introduced me to Hans Rosling! Thank you
You're welcome 🙏
Hans Rosling was amazing! Just bought Factfullness around a week ago. Rest in peace
Nice! I remember asking you to react to Hans a while ago, truly an amazing man.
Hans is one of the biggest influences of my visual presentation style at work, and most recently, you have become probably the biggest influence of the rest of my presentation style.
Omg I got so emotional in the end
... I miss that wonderful man...
YES! HANS ROSLING!
What a beautiful tribute.
Thank you for being so consistent and making this content. You are like the ones that inspired you, one true teacher of life in one of the most important skill of the human race. Can't wait fo the next video.

What a wonderful tribute... Well done. I was sad to discover in this video that he had passed.
I am in the work place safety professional. I have shared his Ted Talks to others saying this is how we should talk statistics (if you need to talk safety stats). Truly inspiring man on so many levels.

I'm trying to quit smoking, I just needed to hear my man. I'm good now...
Good on ya! And good luck :)
I would really love for you to give a tribute to Lennart Johansson. Not a public speaker but he is one of the greatest personalities in football. He was the one that made football more enjoyable and his passion and proffessionalis while he was UEFA president was extraordinary. He was always looking positively at things and created the competition that we all know as Champion's League. He was one of the people to inspire me into loving football and playing football. He is the true personification of wanting football to be enjoyable for the fans.
This is incredibly helpful I enjoy your videos so much
His book "Factfulness" from 2017 is a MUST-READ for everybody living in the 2020s. Basically most of our believes about countries outside of the Western World are either decades old or horribly distorted by biases and media.
The book essentially gives you a fact-fix on everything about the world in an understandable way. And most importantly it gives you HOPE.
Congrats on 200k subs!
Dear David,

Got 6 video ideas for you that'll perform well. Do videos on all the other members of the Sidemen
just here on your newest video so you're more likely to see it - consider analysing the speech of tommyinnit! he's a really fast growing youtuber with a very loud and impressive manner of speaking, his laugh is unmistakable, and i'd love to see you talk about how he uses his speech to make such a huge presence in his videos!

David, would you do a public speaking review of Neil DeGrasse Tyson?
A good candidate for observing public speaking (and being a conversationalist) is Bill Clinton, like at the 1992 Presidential debate.
