It's an interesting concept! And I would love it, but I would prefer a magnetic rod that could be inserted into a hanging sleeve. I don't like seeing the magnets on the outside of the top of the quilt. .
Have you considered having a type of strip that could be inserted in a quilt sleeve that would also work with the magnetic that is installed on the wall? This would make it so you couldn't see the magnetic on the front of the quilt.

You could absolutely slide the magnets into a sleeve! The part that's on the wall isn't magnetic, just metal.
Could these be used to secure a backing on a long arm quilter? Just attach the metal bars to take up bar and then attach the backing with the magnets.
