I have gone through probably one of the worst two years (the pandemic and due to it the lockdowns) of my life and I really struggled with depression and anxiety issues, probably because I just never acknowledged that I had such issues. I really related to the point of men suppressing their emotions. In 2020, when my grandmother died of COVID, my father didn't cry throughout the funeral. I was confused coz I was bawling my eyes out and he just carried on like nothing happened. 15days later, I had a fight with my aunt coz she was badmouthing my brother and I just blasted. I packed my bags to return back to the city where I was studying. My dad comes to my room and asks me to not go. I didn't listen. (It's a normal thing when my aunt comes over.) But, that day, my dad broke down. He cried and cried for like 45mins and I cried. We talked about grandma and cried even more. That evening, I could see a burden getting off his back. He felt calmer and relaxed. For all the people out there, who suppress their emotions coz they are supposed to be strong and be there for others, it's okay to let your feelings out. Don't hold it in. It only eats you from within.

Hey Kenny, I like the question on luxury. I have been struggling with it too. This mostly happens when there is a big change in your social or financial status, and your psyche is trying to accommodate your new image in your eyes. I have personally never understood luxury. I just don't know the purpose of it. I understand comfort, which in my mind is one degree lesser than luxury. Yes, you absolutely deserve comfort if you've earned it. I really think the point is to stay close to your center if you want to live a conscious life. Now luxury is a slippery slope. Also, since you are an artist, you should take extra care to stay relatable. Auto is content and more fun. :) #simpleken

(please read the full message) i dont know if you find my comment or not, but with some hope i am still dropping it. so i recently turned 16 and i am in standard 10. i dont like to study but still get good grades. i like music and art a lot and i am learning hindustani classical music too. my parents are very good. they care or me and they want the best for me ofcourse but they sometimes force me to do music because my dad is fond of music. he literally practices music whenever he gets time and he wants the same for me. he says that i have got a beautiful voice and i should do more practice. About the earning/spending money thing.. I don't think earning/spending too much is wrong at all, AS LONG AS it is for the betterment of some component of society-the environment, the unprivileged or any cause close to your heart. But for the majority of us spending money is about vanity and showing off our wealth/status- which again has no right/wrong in my opinion. Choose what you want, it'sa free country, but just Be Self-Aware of what you are choosing to do and that it is in line with your inner values and not follow the herd in either case. For e.g, most of us have forgotten to use a handkerchief just because use/throw tissues are so fashionable! Most people will do anything to belong in a majority and once we have some money, it's easy to do that. What do you think? 😊

I have a question Kenny. What's the point of living? i mean like waking up daily, doing the job , eating, sleeping, on weekend spending time with friends/family which are small happiness's, that's all. Days goes by , it repeats. 10 months late with this comment, but if you earned it, you are free to enjoy it. limiting the pleasure you derive from your hard work because others are limited in their empathy for you, is disaster. I got tired of the guilt tripping when people would tell me not to enjoy "too much". what does that even mean? how can being happy for the fruit of your own labour be "too much". How can investing in real estate or going out to dinner with your friends be "too much"? The hard work you've done for years to be able to afford the things that bring you joy are completely forgotten when people make comments about being fancy or a show off. You should be allowed to enjoy what you have, (especially something that you worked hard for) without people making you feel guilty. Whether that is a fancy house, a fancy car, a fancy dinner, or a fancy tshirt, when you earn it, it is meant to give you the joy for all the times you did not have it. Somehow the people who make these comments are absent when you are working hard, but present when you give yourself a break to enjoy.
about the auto conversation...well, it all boils down to humility I guess. I think its an innate trait for humans to judge and give out opinions especially when it comes to finance. ex, someone from a low socioeconomic background shouldn't even buy "fancy" clothes or electrotronics until their in a better place and people who are better off should be always eager to help people out financially and not show off what they've bought? like honestly, why are we like this? at the end of the day if you're low-key about it don't judge people based on what they choose to do with their money, you're good to go.

I'm in 12th grade now, studing science, my initial plan was to go for mbbs and become a doctor, but lately i've been gettinf this strong feeling that it might not be the right option for me...
all along my life, the plan was always to become a doctor, even my parents strongly urged my to go for it, so i never considered any other options and i don't know much about other fields...
i don't know what i want to do w my life now, and it makes me feel very upset :((

I think its a personal choice whether one feels happy by spending on the things to hv an experience or just likes to keep it simple . But this choice should not be driven by the intention to show off to others , bcz then it becomes status symbol and seeking social validation.

Hey Kenny, First of all, Congratulations on your wedding, hope you have the best married life ever ...I am currently in 12th standard, and I really like this guy in my class, I used to crush on him since like, 6th grade, then we changed schools, he never felt anything for me. He was in a relationship with someone at that time, and apparently he thought I was a creep, cut to class 12th, we ended up in the same school...we started texting on a regular basis, sometimes we would talk over text for 4 hours straight and sometimes he won't even reply to my texts. It's superr confusing. I dunno what is it that he actually wants, also, he never speaks to me in public..exchanging looks is all we do. I am so puzzled about what I should interpret from it and what not. Also, is it right to fall into 'this thing' now?

Hey Kenny, I like the question on luxury. I have been struggling with it too. This mostly happens when there is a big change in your social or financial status, and your psyche is trying to accommodate your new image in your eyes. I have personally never understood luxury. I just don't know the purpose of it. I understand comfort, which in my mind is one degree lesser than luxury. Yes, you absolutely deserve comfort if you've earned it. I really think the point is to stay close to your center if you want to live a conscious life. Now luxury is a slippery slope. Also, since you are an artist, you should take extra care to stay relatable. Auto is content and more fun. :)

(please read the full message) i dont know if you find my comment or not, but with some hope i am still dropping it. so i recently turned 16 and i am in standard 10. i dont like to study but still get good grades. i like music and art a lot and i am learning hindustani classical music too. my parents are very good. they care or me and they want the best for me ofcourse but they sometimes force me to do music because my dad is fond of music. he literally practices music whenever he gets time and he wants the same for me. he says that i have got a beautiful voice and i should do more practice. (we call it riyaz) but my problem is i dont want to do a particular thing when i am told to do so. that is one problem. second, i mentioned that i like music and some of my relatives are against me learning music. they think that nothing is important for me more than studies at this age but i really want to continue in music. its not like i hate studies but i can do music and studies together. you see if lata mangeshkar was told to leave music or to do something else, we woudn't be having one of the best singers. again, i am not saying that i am as good as lataji ofc not. but if i do my best i may reach something which would make me happy. i know this isnt a question but i would like to hear you on this. ps: i love you as much as i love my mom and dad :D (baby shower: bacche ke aankh me saabun chala gaya XD) hope you have a super awesome life ahead !!!!!!! lots of love!!!!!!!! #simpleken

About the earning/spending money thing.. I don't think earning/spending too much is wrong at all, AS LONG AS it is for the betterment of some component of society-the environment, the unprivileged or any cause close to your heart. But for the majority of us spending money is about vanity and showing off our wealth/status- which again has no right/wrong in my opinion. Choose what you want, it'sa free country, but just Be Self-Aware of what you are choosing to do and that it is in line with your inner values and not follow the herd in either case.
For e.g, most of us have forgotten to use a handkerchief just because use/throw tissues are so fashionable! Most people will do anything to belong in a majority and once we have some money, it's easy to do that. What do you think? 😊

I have a question Kenny. What's the point of living? i mean like waking up daily, doing the job , eating, sleeping, on weekend spending time with friends/family which are small happiness's, that's all. Days goes by , it repeats. At a point, getting good percentage is goal, at a point getting a job, at a point getting married, then kids ,their studies but the cycle repeats right, we are gonna keep some effort, reach that goal, then next and cycle continues. Is that's all the life? Like rat running in that wheel to catch cheese , we run with some goal/responsibility to pass the time. #simpleken

limiting the pleasure you derive from your hard work because others are limited in their empathy for you, is disaster.
I got tired of the guilt tripping when people would tell me not to enjoy "too much". what does that even mean? how can being happy for the fruit of your own labour be "too much".
How can investing in real estate or going out to dinner with your friends be "too much"? The hard work you've done for years to be able to afford the things that bring you joy are completely forgotten when people make comments about being fancy or a show off.
You should be allowed to enjoy what you have, (especially something that you worked hard for) without people making you feel guilty. Whether that is a fancy house, a fancy car, a fancy dinner, or a fancy tshirt, when you earn it, it is meant to give you the joy for all the times you did not have it.
Somehow the people who make these comments are absent when you are working hard, but present when you give yourself a break to enjoy.
about the auto conversation...well, it all boils down to humility I guess. I think its an innate trait for humans to judge and give out opinions especially when it comes to finance. ex, someone from a low socioeconomic background shouldn't even buy "fancy" clothes or electrotronics until their in a better place and people who are better off should be always eager to help people out financially and not show off what they've bought? like honestly, why are we like this? at the end of the day if you're low-key about it don't judge people based on what they choose to do with their money, you're good to go.
