- Today's challenge: Complete Tears of the Kingdom, without ever using any items that existed in Breath of the Wild. This is part 1 of a trilogy that I'm going to be releasing in the next few weeks, think of this one as The Fellowship of the Ring, or perhaps disc 1 of Final Fantasy VII. Because, this one is totally up there with the greats. Yup.
The rules are as follows:
-BotW weapons cannot be used to attack and can't have anything fused to them
-BotW shields cannot be used to defend and can't have anything fused to them
-BotW bows cannot be used for anything, and arrows just can't be used at all
-BotW armour cannot be worn or upgraded
-BotW materials cannot be fused, consumed or cooked
-BotW food and elixirs cannot be consumed or made
-BotW key items can't be used at all
-Heart Containers, Stamina, Rupees and Small Keys are all allowed as they don't appear as physical inventory items
-Intact weapons are still disallowed even though their names are different
-BotW items cannot be sold or exchanged
-No amiibo are allowed
-Glitch items are allowed even if they are similar to existing BotW items
-Any glitches are completely fine, as long as they don't violate the number one rule of no BotW items
If you are still waiting on part 2 and want other stuff to watch, here's a playlist where I am obtaining every Pokémon in Pokédex order:
• Dex Order Challenge
And here's a cool video where I got every achievement in Dark Souls from memory:
• Getting all achievemen...
20 years ago, my father left to get cigarettes and never returned. Today he came back just to tell me to watch the new Kiwi video with him. Thank you for fixing my family.
Minor lore correction, Purrah intentionally deaged herself in BotW, it was just accidental how far back she went. Shes also not back to normal here since she's supposed to be over 100 years old, which was the reason she was experimenting with deaging in the first place.
Very entertaining concept for a challenge, love the video! I hope you can forgive me being a bit pedantic haha
To clarify, he hasn't been dead/missing for all that time; him and the princess have been rebuilding hyrule for all that time, but recently, gloom began seeping from out under the castle, leading to... the opening cutscene, and *then* Link goes missing for... maybe days to a week or so?
Yeah I completely misread the timeline there lol
I feel like the easiest way to get around food would be eat it while full health and wait for any buffs to wear of before moving forward so you ultimately gain nothing except an inventory slot back out of it.
Oh sh*t. Time to stop working and watch the new Kiwi video
Did you know that there is a well that leads to the depths and you fall into water.
I learned this when playing no paraglider.
I love the skyrock approach, though.
I was kinda hoping that you wouldn't be using glitches but then I realised that would probably be too much grinding if not straight up impossible
This really was Beating Tears of the Kingdom without using BotW items
This truly is the rise of the Kiwi-nation
Your videos are so peaceful, and that’s just what I need for today. It’s time to get comfy
Glad to hear that, it's the vibe that I am going for :)
this video saved my life, filed my taxes, and scratched my dog behind his ears
Showed this vid to my Gran and she told me she's gonna give the challenge a go. She only has a laptop that runs windows 7 so I'm not sure how she'll do that but I'll encourage her all the same.
Hey, I'm going through my first actual TotK run myself! So it's really cool to see you doing a personalized run while I'm doing my first generic one! I'm listening to it while I'm playing, so it feels like I'm playing right along with you. 😄
Love how creative you are with the ideas for these challenge runs. I subbed for the pokemon videos and the other games are an incredible bonus!
This is the second time I've clicked on a recommended video from you (the first being the Dark Souls one) without realising it was from the "Catching every pokemon in dex order" Guy.
I've never (successfully) played Dark Souls, and have never played Totk, but enjoyed your video style, and accent so much, that I watched them anyways!
Keep up the great work!
Thank you thank you:)
For surviving the cold in Hebra, you can fuse a Fire Like stone to a shield. Works the same as a ruby.
For the Spirit Temple, the only requirement is that you initiate the Regional Phenomena quest by talking to Purah after getting the paraglider. You can bypass the 10-hearts door by ascending from below, but Mineru’s owl mask thing won’t activate without starting that quest, which means you need to at least acquire the paraglider.
Oh wow I never actually thought about fire like stones, and there was me talking about them in the first video! I don't want to spoil anything about whether or not I managed those two, although you've probably pieced it together anyway
So begins the tale of how Kiwi saved Hyrule but in the process of neglecting the Gerudo, and Zoras a civil war broke out. Tune in for pt 2 where Kiwi loses what little sanity he had left.
Nice, a Zelda game. Love those too. Commented for the algorithm 🙂
dearest algorithm, i write this in order to feed you, feed you so that my favourite video game masochist named after a flightless bird gets more eyeballs on his videos
Thank you friend, hopefully the algorithm starts to be kinder with the non-pokemon stuff but only time will tell
I don’t have time to watch this now but I will be. I will soon.
oooh interesting challenge! can't wait for more
edit: as of the beginning of the game, link and zelda had only been missing for a few weeks. the game itself takes place 6 or so years post botw
yesterday I looked up fun challenges to do in botw/totk and wasn't satisfied with any of the ones that I saw. this one seems interesting though! can't wait for part 2!
holy shit, you do totk too!!! a man of many talents!!!
this video is brilliant as always, love your editing and narration style :] super eager to see how this goes!
Awesome! I’m excited to see you branching into other games I love. Keep up the great work!
I’m glad to see another member of the korok space program
(What do you mean space is up!?)
Acthually Link's been playable in BotW so you can't use him 🤓
I'm surprised I'm already subscribed, but I'm glad I am
13:15 Dinraal parts also give heat when fused, I normally carry a warm and a cold shield early on
Also ironically there’s 2 rare ore deposits on the Great Sky Island and they both give a guaranteed ruby
so here are my suggestions. wind temple would be possible, as you can use fire monster horns to protect you from the cold (they're not in botw, I believe). I think also the fire temple would be possible if you gather enough splash fruits and make yourself wet. other than that... yeah impossible unless you add exeptions for mandatory items, which I would find much more interesting.
Babe kiwi posted its time to invest all of our autism into this master crafted video
Hello Kiwi, I am a representative at Twin Galaxies. I'm sure you've heard of us. Unfortunately, we cannot "let you have this one": please redo the entire video and do the skip properly. You'll be hearing from our lawyers if this is not done in the next 38 seconds.
I'm afraid I didn't let your lawyers into my house, I was too busy editing part 2
Looking around the map at the end killed me.
V Funny.
Thanks, Forge Constructs!
a game idea: perfection on stardew valley if it hasnt yet be recommended
I am a big stardew enjoyer and have 100%'d it before so there's always the possibility that I'll do it again
I love accidentally stumbling upon new small youtubers!!
Zelda series lets gooooooooooooo
That was such a great video, looking forward to the rest💖 I do think spirit temple will be possible but I am guessing you will know that by now.
Fire and Spirit Temples are definitely possible, i think the rest are all impossible though
I did the spirit temple without beating all the 4 first, I went through the thunderstorm without dissipating it
there are wells that have water in there depths so that would be an option unless water is offlimits for a challange
Yeah water existed in botw so link can't get wet here
Nah I needed to jump down that specific chasm in Central hyrule as its the main one connected to the big central mine
Once again, I can happily watch you play a game I don't like and have no interest in, because you make a damn good video on it, looking forward to the future parts!
If this sounds fun enough I’ll give it a go, nvm I just realised I wouldn’t be able to use any bows
As much as I enjoyed doing this (at times) I will encourage you to please not attempt this if you value your sanity
18:58 he was only out for like 3 months
no chance of beating the gerudo or zora temples rip in pepperoni
Woah those are some long fingers but neat! A face reveal!
Last time I was this early the wife left me 🥺 Great video chief 👌
I haven't managed to finish the game yet without restrictions 😅
two thumbs way way up!
Kiwi video!
Yoooo new Kiwi vid
Isn't it possible to stand on fans? If so, you could recall platform that fan to get up in the first undoable shrine.
Oh shit I never thought of that (I can't be bothered going back to the game but you are probably right)
@@KillerKiwi1642 I totally get not wanting to find it again. It’d probably be frustrating to get right anyways.
Never ever finished my own playthrough of this game, so I'm excited to actually see the latter 2/3rds of the game haha
Comment for algorithm :)
Also I liked the video so I of course pressed the button specifically for that
nice vid
Thanks :)
is the para pad technically just the sheikah slate?
They are different enough I'd say to allow myself to get away with it - the purah pad is zelda's new version that she leaves for link, not actually sure what happens to the original sheikah slate though
TOTK: I nap.
*Its a kiwi video* For real?
Seriously though, this is an interesting concept! Looking forward to how you tackle this.
33:25 Wait which shrine was that?
It's driving me nuts, I did all the shrines and I don't recognize that vertical shaft
When I get to my pc I shall have a little look at the footage and let you know
It is called Morok Shrine and it is in Sahasra Slope
Aren't ancient blades in Botw?
Nah Ancient arrows are, so all is well
@@KillerKiwi1642 I knew there was a bunch of ancient gear, but couldn't remember them.
are the logs new if they come from sky trees? I suppose
You start by saying that you won't use the weapon that we all recognize as the "Master Sword" only to use it a moment later. What was the point of that? If it was supposed funny it fell flat, completely.
he failed a speedrun tactic and decided to be honest and say he failed while he could've just as well used someone else's footage for that and found another workaround, that's all
Exactly, dunno what this person is talking about at all, wasn't trying to be funny there either..
It’s not actually the master sword though
