After 2 broken left femurs from riding crashes(resulting in a permanent plate screwed in now), and 2 broken wrists from a skateboarding crash last year, I've just last week returned to Eliot Travis's Yin Yoga sessions. Getting back to working on my flexibility especially opening up my hips and stretching ITBs. Strength training on the forearms has helped with my wrist strength returning to the bike after my skateboard crash too.

I'm so glad that you have found a successful routine to help you rehab your injuries!! I love yoga, but for me, my problem is hyper-flexibility that leads to joint instability...so sometimes stretching can almost make my issues worse! My goal with my new knee injury (after surgery) is to focus on corrective resistance training to improve the strength of my muscles and connective tissues. I appreciate your tips and feedback and I'm wishing you a speedy recovery! That femur break must've been the WORST!!!

Hi! I'm an independent bike fitter near Austin, Tx. I would strongly suggest speaking with someone who knows bike fit from an accommodative perspective. Not Retul, not big box. If you have pre-existing injuries, chronic pain that persists through every ride, have recently ridden more and begun hurting more, or significantly less due to pain I think it can be of great help to you. Of course, if you're ever in Texas reach out and I will gladly help. Good luck and best wishes on your recovery.

Thank You so much! I am also a huge advocate for getting a professional bike fit. I have been fit on my road bike (but only once) and then my bike fitter moved to San Diego before I got my gravel bike. Once I am recovered from my knee injury, I will definitely get pro bike fits on both bikes again.

Hi Erin, I'm really sorry to hear you have pain but you should also check your bike saddle and handlebar configuration....hope you feel better soon!! All the best!

Thank you, I will! I've had a pro bike fit for sure and I'm a huge advocate of that service. My pain relates to some old injuries I have that flare up on the bike, so I figured learning some new exercises and training modalities couldn't hurt!! Thank you for your tip!

I'm skeptical. Or, maybe paranoid, at any rate I wonder how many malpractice claims have been filed on this guy. He seems to move around a lot. Is he working out of his garage? Are Chiropractors even real doctors? Personally I would never go to one.

    • @erinohagain9841

Craig is one of the top chiropractor’s in LA and works with a lot of pro cyclists. What I appreciated, was the amount of time he spent with me teaching me exercises that I can do everyday to strengthen my body and minimize pain. Chiropractors aren’t for everyone and we all have the right to our own opinions… I have some old injury’s to my neck and scapula that I’ve struggled with for years, and any PHD I’ve been to has spent far less time, and recommended advil and stopping riding my bike. But again, to each their own and we all have the right to make our own decisions about what feels comfortable for our body and what care to seek out

@@erinohagain9841 I stay away from doctors as much as I possibly can also. My experience when I have pain is it seems to always be a temporary inconvenience that eventually goes away. After 65 years it seems to have worked except one time. I had a burning pain in my right foot big toe that wouldn't go away after several years. I did go to a doctor to get checked and ended up with a joint fusion and a titanium plate. almost two years now and I wish I never would of had the surgery. Still have pain and I can't bend my toe. It never bothers me with cycling shoes since the feet are not suppose to bend anyway but walking is a bitch somethings. Doctors are like any other business, I don't think they care about your health as much as making money these days.

It certainly can feel like that and I totally sympathize… my recent injury has me leaning on the Western health system pretty hard considering that I’m going to need surgery to repair the torn ligaments in my knee, and it’s really difficult having to advocate for yourself. I am also not about painkillers, as they are just a band aide to whatever underlying condition you have going on. I certainly believe in the power of taking care of your own body with physical activity and good nutrition… But western medicine is necessary from time to time and I do feel very grateful that I have access to medical care when there are so many in the world that do not (despite having to pay for it dearly.) I do feel grateful that I have medical insurance in a time like this when I am facing a surgery because there’s no amount of exercise or physical therapy that I can do to fix a broken kneecap and snapped ligament. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and opinions on here… I always encourage respectful conversation and hearing about peoples stories🤍

@@erinohagain9841 Many years ago I had a bad automobile accident that left me with a torn ACL. The doctor told me I would never be able to run again. I opted not to have surgery and since then riding a bike has brought me back to normal use without any issues. I even raced mountain bikes and won several races. I was on a 4 man team of Keith Bontrager's in a 24 race even, I was that good. What's cool is I can wiggle my leg and still see the movement in my knee but it's strong. I don't recommend you do the same I'm just sharing. But yet this is another example of how doctors can be wrong.
