It would be nice to see your schematic or something just like it. I want to install power invert er in my truck. My intentions are to use some power tools, laptops, and charging phones, power tool battery charging and maybe coffee maker. I'm a subscriber now.
A good ground in your vehicle is the welded body or frame, frame being preferable. Kudos for removing the paint on the cabinet and venting the battery a lot of people would not have done either.
I never saw a good shot of how you had the battery set up.
Worth testing, perhaps by observing bubbles in a container of water during charging (inconclusive if negative, conclusive if present) since your vent system terminates lower than the battery and that the tubes are large enough to effectively evacuate the area? For a similar reason that you specified large gauge cables (less resistance), your H2 should be in a large H2-compatible tube and connect to a sealed battery enclosure aka vented battery box. The vent should remain above or at least at the same level of the top of the battery since hydrogen is lighter than air.
Wayne !!!! that video was GREAT !!!! I have to install a converter into my truck to run an airless paint sprayer so I can spray deer blinds. Now I can do it and I think I will install the 1500 just in case I need to use it on something else. And the video was FINE.... a little shake is good for you.
In both of my service vehicles. I had a professional stereo company run the wiring to a back up battery. And in both units all my work lights are directly connected to the secondary battery. No need to turn the inverter when I want lights. I use a 2000 watt pure sine wave in both that can run all 3 key machines at the same time if needed. I can see the main difference when a pro runs the wiring vs an amateur. If I had a way of posting pics I would.
I have a 5kw inverter in my van. It's ran everything I've plugged into it. I use the stock 140A alternator and 4-100AH batteries. It's worth the $. I use it daily, but also plan to use it in place of a generator at home if the power goes out. I already have generators, but they're noisy and the van can idle a long time I'm sure on it's 30 gallon tank.
Do you have to keep the van idle while operating your appliances? I have a need to power a 7000 watts appliance from my van and the van comes with 4 Motorcraft® Tested Tough® MAX BXT-65-850 batteries. What capacity inverter would you recommend?
you probably wanna strap on another alternator or two if you plan on using it as a generator, or at least get a built alt
Did you have to install a higher output alternator to keep up with the battery discharge ?
A fuse does not generate power. Your fuse size is determined by wire gauge and anticipated amp draw. The fuse will pop before your wires melt and cause a fire. Please consult your local pro...🧐🤨

Batteries emit hydrogen & oxygen gasses that are highly explosive. Batteries explode just like a bomb does.

I woul like to know if you have to have the vehicle motor running to make last the battery live or all this is just the battery along and how long it las . Because i have one and i have to keep running the vehicles motor to avoid the battery get dead.
I suppose you were originally running the system off the engine battery and recharging the engine battery by running the vehicle engine right? And how long will both batteries last while running the ac, air compressor and key machine without running the engine?t

The part name you we're looking for is a ''Diode Bridge'' witch it''s fonction is to let current go one way only this is why you won't drain your maine car battery if inverter is left on

What you're talking about is a kill switch. That's the device that cuts off the electrical power from the main battery, to the external one. It's $20 for a generic switch that you can get from pepboys.
What size wire did you use from the car battery to the deep cycle battery? What size wire did you use from the deep cycle battery to the inverter?

I have another battery and a 500 watt inverter says inverts 120/500. 120 to.the lighter plugin and 500 direct. could i build a box to mount to my headache rack that holds the second batter and my inverter then run my connection to the main battery when needed? I have an RV and I can tell you the engine must be running or you will drain out your batteries very fast, probably will not even run.
The system is able to charge when or while off. One product is called a battery buddy.

I have a 6.5 amp electric pole saw that I would like to use in the field using my existing car battery (2000 Rav4). Sun Joe said I would need a 5,000 watt power invertor, but that seems really high. What is the minimum wattage I would need to power my pole saw?

I know this is 4 years later but....probably should have used a Deep cycle battery for the secondary battery instead of an automotive battery. Will last significantly longer, Saving you crazy money over time.

I wouldn't think so, unless he took that hundred and added it to the total he has in the whole system. inverters are high..

Yes, but you also have to install an isolator so 2nd battery doesn't continually draw power from main battery when vehicle is off.
Are the batteries connected in parallel or series? Where did you vent battery so H doesn’t build up while stopped?
I'd guess at parallel because he wants to increase amp hours NOT voltage

Can i run the car engine while using my 1500 w inverter ?
I have the 2000 - 4000 watt inverter from Harbor Freight it does a good job overall. It's not a sine wave inverter. But when I first try to cut my hair dryer on the red light comes on and it beeps so I cut it off the power switch and then back on and worls and it resets it. And I noticed if I'm using the metal cutting saw and I stop and cut it back on I have to reset it at times that's the only drawback. Does anybody else have that problem? I have a diesel with two pretty big batteries.

so when hooking up the second battery did you just run cables to the inverter's terminals? so you had 4 cables connected to the inverter terminals? 2 from the car and 2 from the 2ndary?

did the cables from the car battery connect to somekind of hub or did you just splice the inverter cables together? Then you just added the 2ndary battery cables to the cable running from the car batt? So its one cable from the car batt with 3 sets of (+) ( - ) connections coming out of it at the end?
Battery cable in line charging line comes into battery one. Then cables go to battery 2.

I'm a contractor would like to hook up a 2000 watt inverter in my utility shell it has two batteries in the F250 that I have and I'd like to know what gauge wire to run back to the backup battery I have a 30 amp power AMG sealed battery that I'm going to use for the back up with a 2000 watt inverter so what size cables do I need to hook up from the battery back to the shell and then from the inverter to battery and battery to inverter hope that was clear enough

Hey buddy i have a trace inverter 2000watt 8ooowatt peak and I have a 100% seal battery in the back of my work van what I am wondering is if I run it with the van off will it kill the battery under the hood as well as the one in the back thanks
john doe consider them the same. if one dies so will the otheres if something gets left on. but you can install an isolator that will charge you secondary battery but then not deplete main battery. ask a local professional if you have more questions as they will be able to set you up best. look for a batteries + bulbs near you
If it's connected to the vans main electrical system then yes it with both charge the battery and kill it if you leave the lights or something on. You can prevent this using a isolator. This let's the battery charge but not run dead

Lol he keeps saying "it's the thickness of your wire". But his "mains" are a 6 and two 12 gauge tied together them little fuses. May pop but DC current will run backwards thru your short until it gets hot enough to pop that 60 amp or melt your crap.... Also 18 wheelers have 4 to 5 batteis and one someware gets jumped off every day bahaha
