  • Dyrhólaey "door hill island," is a small peninsula located on the south coast of Iceland, not far from the village Vík. It was formerly an island of volcanic origin, also known by the Icelandic word "eyja", meaning island. The peninsula has an elevation of 120 meters (390 ft), and the Dyrhólaey Lighthouse sits at the top of the formation facing the sea.
The view from Dyrhólaey is spectacular. To the north is glacier Mýrdalsjökull, and to the east is the black lava beach with the famous columns of Reynisdrangar. And to the west, a vast coastline view. The Atlantic puffins nest on the cliff faces of Dyrhólaey. The whole area is fascinating.
Reynisfjara is a world-famous black-sand beach on the South Coast of Iceland, just beside the small village of Vík í Mýrdal.
