you can also FEEL their weight! They all move differently have a different turn radius, they start and stop moving differently, jump differently. Moving on the raptor as opposed to jackal feels so different even if the technically do the same, as well as griffon/skyscale

Skyscale is better than griffin cause it can grip on walls

GW2 mounts are so good, WoW has stole the gryphon/skyscale mechanics and advertised a whole expansion around it.
I don’t like mmos or anything but this is a high quality video needs more attention

GW2 is wonderful as an MMO but it has horrible optimization. Somehow 2004 WoW runs infinitely better than 2023 GW2. There's also a bug that makes the mobs invisible and gms don't know how to fix it. When the game works it's great, but it doesn't work 100% of the time as other games
@@DraconasTenZHGyea idk me personally I think this game is optimized great alot better than what I'm used to. When I'm in WvW and a whole bunch of players on screen runs pretty well no stutters or spikes
@@Xceedpvp Yea, I am playing WvW on max graphics and 90% of the time it's very smooth, there will be a 1 or 2 second lag when you encounter a huge zerg but it's not too bad. But the game totally shits itself when you try to enter a zone that has a lot of players in a small area - Eye of the North for example. Or this year the Four Winds maps were loading for a long time and lagged often. Even if there were few players. Map jumping should be instant, you have the entire map loaded and when you switch maps, you have to load it again.

@@jukkininth4837 Objection: GW2 on shit graphics looks way worse than 2004 WoW on shit graphics so it's not a graphics issue. Also WoW today looks much better than GW2 today and works as well as it did in 2004. Also you load an entire continent rather than a small 10 man instance and it's much faster. How will you explain that?

I was actually talking about this while playing Diablo 4 with the stupid horse. I constantly refer to the fluidity of GW2 mounts in comparison. I need to play more lol.

I think that actually sucks, oh you need to jump high? Switch to that mount. Oh you gotta jump far? Switch to that mount. You see a wall that you gotta smash? Switch to that mount. Or, you can just ignore all of that and just fly. Shit doesn't need to be overly complicated.
I'd argue that's the best part of it imo - I love switching mounts on the fly to deal with every situation.
Even with Skyscale unlocked I can get places faster with Griffon, or get up vertical climbs faster with the Springer.
One of my favourite things to do is to jump with Springer, Bond of Faith, Glide, Jade Bot, Skyscale, Bond of Vigor to ascend, Dismount -> Glide, Griffon.
It's a neat little combo that gets me a ton of height to use Griffon at full speed.
True, As a former wow player I agree.
It's always great to see GW2 get recognition! ANet's mount system deserves all the praise, and should be used as inspiration for other games in any number of genres - it's so good that Blizz outright stole the Skyscale's and Griffon's mechanics and animations - but that was a cheap imitation instead of an ode or improvement on a far superior system.
I'd genuinely love to see other fresh takes on mounts, maybe even picking up GW2's scraps like the spider mount.

I would agree if I hadnt taken forever to grind out the skyscale. Basically it's just an incestial dragon that can barely fly.
Skyscale is great for short range flying, but anywhere further away is where Griffon comes in - and you get get enough height to use the Griffon with a Springer, Jade Bot Glider and Skyscale.
GW2 is at its best when you recognise the strengths and weaknesses of all your mounts and mobility tools and use them all in conjunction.

yea that if u didnt need to get to lvl 80 + have 2 expansions then do quests to open the mounts 1 by 1 then do more quests to unlock and lvl up the mount abilites that make them useful ..yeah its hell
Lmao. That is what an MMO is supposed to be. Gw2 is an old game. Not the same as mobile games with pay to win features.
Are you complaining that you have to play the game to progress?
It's so funny too when you 9realiz9e Anet never wanted to actually do mounts. They were very against mounts. Gliding was gonna be there thing.
They eventually backpedaled on that but did it right. Not just so cosmetic movement speed increase. Actual mechanical upgrades to your character and how they can move about in the world.

@@Earthz1412 No, but retention is horribly low in the game and Jade expansion was a joke, I enjoyed Jungle fun and Desert Bro, but once you get in it just seems very mundane and repetitive, there doesn't seem to be any drive to do anything and no payoff for any storyline. They don't market the game well and they don't have a development cycle to speak of.
@@RUclipsStupidBullshit because u expect this game like the other mmo that u played. there are many things to do in the game that hiding in the achievment panel if u explore. even i can say gw2 is has the most amount of content to do than any other mmo. i know some mmo that only doin some repetitive dungeon and raid everyday in end game content to grind gear till the next expansion come out. But Gw2 have more than that, of course u can do 100 tier fractals and raid, u can do pvp or wvw for larger scale, u can farming gold at every meta events, do some jumping puzzles, collect every mastery points to unlock every mastery, even u can do many achievment like become a cat hunters and collect every cats in tyria for ur home instance, make a circuit race in ur home instance for beetle race, make a music or a band group with friends, do some fashion wars and many more
You just described every single MMORPG. Doesn't matter which one in the end they are all the same.
I've lasted in FFXIV and EVE Online far longer than any other MMO. The community keeps those games alive. Final Fantasy to the point I need to play catch up and before the new expansion comes out.
The problem is you have to buy a specific expansion for mounts, you get jack shit if you are ftp.
Wrong. Youll get a raptor mount being f2p. Besides gw2 does not have sub fee. So whats wrong paying for an expansion full of new content?
@@Dusam7 You get a trial of the mount, it expires after 10 hours.
Also the game is not f2p, the free version is more of a trial.
@@Geronmy There is no concept of free-to-play mmos, if u want quality then they need to be monitized, whos gonna feed the developers and the company? The government? No. And The game is not a free-trial, we can experience all the things without the expansions its just that ull be missing some important things like maps, professions, achievements etc, but we can still do end game, hve access to basic maps(which themselves are really large), get best gear, pvp, wvw, whatnot. To support the game, we just need to buy it so the devs can make more exciting things for the future.
When GW2 first got released I was 14 years old and I saved money to buy the game. Once you buy it that’s it, you play as much as you like as often as you like without worrying about monthly fees and so on. Because of this feature I played GW2 instead of WoW. Now 10 years later then I make my own money and It’s not a problem for me to pay monthly subscriptions but I feel it’s a waste of money and time to do so in a game like WoW. I am sure that the revenue Arena Net generates yearly is way below what Blizzard earn, and yet they still manage to offer way better quality game then WoW, so it is not something to complain about in my opinion.
I hate gw2 mounts. Mounts are exactly for easier, faster travel. A flying mount that properly flies is the easiest and fastest way to anywhere and gw2 doesn't have it. Instead you get a load of faff and annoyance that makes uou swear all the time. Its so nice to go back to WoW or something and just get on a mount and go directly to where you want to go.
