Hi! I'm writing from the other side of the Atlantic and I have never seen B. hutchinsii (and I have only seen wild B. canadensis in Belgium once). My question is: all the geese that have passes in front of the camera are cackling geese? Or are there many B. canadensis too (those with the larger beaks)? I happen to have here in my bookshelf the Sibley guide and, yes, I was able to identify different subspecies of B. hutchinsii, but those with the larger beaks, as a non-expert in these species, I would have assigned to the species B. canadensis. I would be very grateful if you could solve my doubt. Thank you and, above all, great video, full of detail!
The correct scientific names of the canada goose and cackling goose are actually Melanoleucocephalus canadensis and Melanoleucocephalus hutchinsii respectively.
Thanks. I've seen some really small Canada geese recently, and thought I saw a few cacklers mixed in. Very small, seemingly stubby beak, but very different call. Are there any Canada geese here?
Nicely filmed. I have never seen Cackling Geese before thanks for sharing. Big Like 65
Thanks a lot
Nice Video! Thank You : )

not sure about the call
judging by the calls there are a number of canadas mixed in with the cackling geese here.
The bigger geese are Canada Geese.
You got the scientific name of the cackling goose completely wrong, its correct scientific name is actually Melanoleucocephalus hutchinsii.
Thanks I go with the ABA nomenclature
