I'm in college using this too XD We have only been learning japanese a week(I'm in 101 supposed to be a beginners class. Luckily I've taught myself some things via the internet!) and we already have test over the whole alphabet, and probably 150 words.
Holly Evans Oh wow!! That's a lot!! :O We haven't started Hiragana but I think that's next. This totally doesn't seem like a beginner class! I'm glad I have at least a tiny bit of knowledge before hand of Japanese or I'd be totally lost! How do you feel about learning so much?
Haley angelo Well hiragana are the symbols that make up kanji in a way so learning hiragana first makes it a bit eaiser later. If you do just the old fashioned writing on a white board over and over you get it. I know the A, Ka, Sa, Ta, Na, Ma, and Ha line. But you also have ten ten where you add 2 dashes and you get something like... like the Ka line becomes the Ga line. I also know greetings and how to say I like and dislike something.
if this makes anyone feel a little bit better about studying the two Japanese alphabets, you basically had to learn two alphabets (lowercase letters and capital letters) if you know English
Yeah that’s actually true, but as the other comment said we learned that as toddlers when that was all that we studied. Also, because we learned another language we’re used to that and learning another one with different sentence structures, pronunciation, grammatical rules, etc is difficult to adjust to. So we’re basically learning a third and fourth alphabet. (Also not to mention how similar most uppercase alphabets and lowercase alphabets are, in hiragana/katakana only so many look a little similar.) Also a lot of people are actually bilingual so we’re learning a BUnCh of alphabets haha :)
+CountryFlyboy I'm learning Japanese and Cantonese; I use whatever it takes. what. ever. it. takes. Just watched Dino Lingo Cantonese for practice and it's damn near like Bob the builder... Maybe even worse.
When u know kids learn this at 1 Edit: Holy crap this got alot of likes and replies, I made this comment when I was 10 lol, it's not even proper Grammer.
A couple of years ago, ppl were making fun of me 'cuz everytime they say something(Except 'what's your name'), I would reply with "No English" and point to myself because I didn't know any english. I thought it would be the most amazing thing in the entire world to speak english. I even day dreamed of myself coming to school and just spitting random words and saying stuff in english while everybody was looking at me in amazement and be like":O:" Now I'm like "Ok, there. I learned it . . . now what? ;-;" Idk I think it might be the same for Japanese but probably not. (If I acually even learn it)
Hey! I for one am in awe! Congrats, your English is amazing and fluency is one of the greatest things to master! I’m on the baby steps of learning Japanese, but this reminded me that it is possible to get good lol. Have a good one!
it's *a* hour, not an hour. neneneneneneneeee, go learn how to speeeeeeeell. (now wait how people are going to copy me to act cool, oh wait not anymore now I already said it)
this is great! I love this video , the only downside of it , is that I burst into laughter when listening to it ;-; , I don't know why it just makes me happy and giddy
Gamer Senpai if anything english is a very complicated language itself but learning anylanguage is hard, especially japanese since its so different •>~
Am I really listening to the Japanese alphabet on loop at 1:30 in the morning because I just got a burst of inspiration to learn an entire new language? Maybe..it’s very much possible..
I know a few characters, so I thought it'd be fun to learn Japanese... Then I learned that there's Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji.... It'd be fun I said. It'll be easy I said. At least the song sounds good
Not if you have well plan on how to tackle it. I learned hiragana almost 3 months compared to everyone who is fast but guess what? I can tell immediately which character at a glance because I mastered it every single character and I practice 20 minutes almost everyday while I'm having fun. Sure it took me long time but I only put little effort (more efficient, effortless) unlike someone who study them for hours and hours then get burnout after couple of days (playing only short term). My method is more long term and I can take it easy while learning hirgana, then I can focus its vowels and its exception rule when pronouncing certain combination (step by step) before I moved to katakana. When learning Japanese, don't learn it all at once or you will get overwhelmed. It's better if you break it down step by step and practice what you need (talented or not when learing foreign languages).
I was just thinking if it was Junko Takeuchi!! Is it really her??? OMG!!! The feeeeeeeelllllllsssssss!!!! My sweet baby Naruto is teaching me Japanese!! \^0^/
I've never watch Naruto so I can't comment on that or even understand the reference. Although I do watch Anime, it isn't for Weeaboos as such, it's for people who want to learn Japanese and divulge into their culture. A weeabo is someone who automatically thinks Japan is an amazing place and nowhere else is better, they think they know everything all due to Anime and Media. They're wrong.
Good video! Thanks to the author for his good work! I'd like to recommend Yuriy Ivantsiv's practice book Polyglot Notes: Practical Tips for Learning Foreign Language. This book has many useful methods for learning a foreign language, how to develop your memory, how to memorize words, learn grammar, quickly learn to speak, read and write. All recommend this excellent book! Good luck to everyone in learning a foreign language!
Well the 'ga' is a ka with chon chon which are two little lines that change the sound of a character eg. ha becomes ba with chon chon, te becomes de with chon chon etc but this only works with some characters. Kanji is a more difficult script so you should look it up on wikipedia. Katakana is also for names. :) It becomes a lot easier to understand once you get the hang of it. I suggest doing some research on the things you don't understand about it. :)
i am totally lost.... japanese essentially has something like 4 alphabets? Including Kanji, we got also Hiragana, Katakana and Romaji? Is that a little nutty or am I wrong?
Lol I'm trying to learn and I felt the same way...completely lost. But I'm getting better. There is the alphabet which is the kana: hiragana, used to write traditional japanese then there is katakana which also has 46 characters like the hiragana and is used more for foreign words and names. Then we have the big one: kanji which has many more characters than katakana and hiragana combined. The Romaji is the phonetic sound, kind of like how we pronounce "A", "ka" would be a phonetic sound for its corresponding character. I guess the alphabet is easy for us because it sounds just what it looks like lol. I have only just started learning this and I've just decided to take it slow: numbers first, then the hiragana, then katakana and romaji alphabet. It's a lot, but don't push yourself or else you'll get even more frustrated. I heard that English is extremely hard for Japanese people to learn just as we think their language is hard lol. Anyway, if anyone can correct what I've said, go right ahead, I'm just a beginner so I'm basically speaking from what I've read lol
Tammy thanks for the emotional support! I really like Japan and Japanese culture from many viewpoints and thought of trying to learn the language but when I begun to study Kanji and trying to translate Japanese websites where all three alphabets are all together often in the same phrase I got confused! I think I will leave Kanji out the picture for the time-being and concetrate on the kana. Thanks Tammy!
Tammy I recommend not learning Romaji, since you basically already know it, if you're an English speaker (Karate, Sushi, etc.) and it would be pretty useless to know anyway in Japan, since Romaji isn't used on signs and whatnot (from my knowledge, I could be wrong). I feel like it's mostly meant for pronunciation. But I'm trying to learn Japanese too, so I support you. c: What I'm doing is learning Hiragana and numbers first, then Katakana and then basic Kanji and then grammar and all that. C:
I wanna learn Japanese so I can watch without subtitles AAAAND go to Japan :3 and other things, like write a Manga! Or make an anime! I'm working on my anime style... I'm pretty bad tho ;-;
Okay I REALLY do NOT mean to sound pompous or rude to the people having a hard time. I think its really easy to learn the hiragana system if you really emerse yourself in it. This song helped a LOT and personally I think this and flash cards would be most peoples best bet at learning somewhat quickly.
I’m attempting to learn Japanese while school forces me to learn French lol I hope your studies are going well still!! (Honestly you’re probably fluent by now lol) Cheerio!
Already know English (school/immigration) and Spanish (native) Learning Japanese (1 year) Can understand some Portuguese (through Spanish) Taking my first baby steps in Mandarin Spent a few months on Italian, German and French I suck at all of them :)
@Lana Aww thanks ^_^ I forgot what it means cause u don’t remember commenting this LOL! I’m Irish-American btw and I’m also studying Irish!! Stay safe btw ❤️
So the colour blue is 'Ao' correct? Is it the same for both alphabets? I'm a beginner and I'm still learning colours and since blue is my favourite colour I want to know if it's the same.
I guess the easiest way is to find someone else and force them to learn it along with you...I did that.. Except that, what I did was to write them and give myself breaks in between. If you want to know more, feel free to ask
Ahhhhhh, the memories of tryingtolearnjapaneseeventhoughit’snotyournativelanguageandactuallyhavingagoodtimebecauseit’sreallyfuntolearnsomethingnew. Or, the memories of right now :)
I’m not the only one watching this on repeat bc I’m currently learning Japanese. Right. -also yes, I am learning from other things, I’m not just trying to learn off of an alphabet on RUclips, I’m using this to help with the learning-
kpop lover Katakana is English words translated into Japanese words (Ex. Cake is Keki, or America is Amerika, or you can translate your name into Japanese), Hiragana is words that normal Japanese people use (I would recommend starting with this one), Kanji is a system of Japanese writing using Chinese characters, Romaji is base off of Roman alphabet so foreigner can understand (Ex. 日本人 is Japanese, but in Romaji is 'Nihonji'. It's kinda like a how-you-say-it thing). The main ones that you should concentrate on is Katakana and Hiragana.
I find it funny that people watch this because of anime and not because they are actually interested in the culture or language. I get it, I like anime too, but I also take interest in their culture and language. Edit: I'm not calling anyone out
Smart Crackrr learning Japanese can be very beneficial to anime fans sense you can play Japanese games without the need for censorship or an English release, read Mangas that haven't been translated yet, and watch anime with no subtitles. I don't think anybody came here just to listen to a children's song lol
And why do you find it funny again? Whatever you said afterwards made absolutely no sense. And big deal if they aren't interested in the language or culture, why are you concerned?
Yeeesh! Gatekeeper alert... And yeah, you pretty much are calling people out... So what if some people want to be able to understand the stuff they read/listen/watch? So what if they're not passionate about it? You included your own relation to japanese here, you do this and that. Are you trying to get some kind of validation or something?
I used to be like that when I was a kid lmao. I only wanted to learn Japanese so I could watch anime without subtitles, but of course I never took the time to actually learn it back then. But now that I'm older, I'm more interested in language. I know Chinese, so it was easier for me to learn Japanese, especially with writing.
The top row is Hiragana, the primary alphabet, the second row is Kantan Kana, the alphabet used for foreign words like mango , banana, and most western names, and the final row is the pronunciation basically.
Good thing about Japanese: Hiragana and Katakana are fairly easy
Bad thing: Kanji
yep.
Korean, Chinese and Japanese are like those groups of people at school that copy each others' homework
xD same Kanji is sooo hard to type! Especially "ma"
Kanji is not that hard actually if you can understand Chinese
Kanji is super easy, maybe just for me because I’m chinese, but it just seems like the kanji looks like the object it’s related to
Teacher: Tell us what you want to do when you're older!
Me: watch anime with no subtitles;-;
Lolll
Sameeeeee

Japanese kids are using this while I'm in high school using this. Learning Japanese is hard. Be prepared if you are taking it.

An example would be the Japanese word for lion, ライオン
Also onomatopoeia are typically typically expressed in katakana too.

私はあなたが探していた日本人のコメントです 😂
Sorry if my Japanese is not good ;-;

@Lana
Aww thanks ^_^ I forgot what it means cause u don’t remember commenting this LOL! I’m Irish-American btw and I’m also studying Irish!! Stay safe btw ❤️
So the colour blue is 'Ao' correct? Is it the same for both alphabets? I'm a beginner and I'm still learning colours and since blue is my favourite colour I want to know if it's the same.
You correct. 'A' is あ and 'O' is お. So blue would be あお in hiragana!
0:10 I'm doing u a favour
i have sarted learning japanese 4 years ago from yr.3 and now i am inn grade 6 and so far i have improven by far
:)
that was good and wierd
+Toshi Kudo any luck? did u learn?
Colby Smith I know it, just browsing
Toshi Kudo oh i know half of it any tips on memorization?
I guess the easiest way is to find someone else and force them to learn it along with you...I did that..
Except that, what I did was to write them and give myself breaks in between. If you want to know more, feel free to ask
This is great for helping pronouncing both hiragana and katakana amazing!
Ahhhhhhhh the memories of Kindergarten
Ahhhhhh, the memories of tryingtolearnjapaneseeventhoughit’snotyournativelanguageandactuallyhavingagoodtimebecauseit’sreallyfuntolearnsomethingnew. Or, the memories of right now :)
I’m not the only one watching this on repeat bc I’m currently learning Japanese. Right.
-also yes, I am learning from other things, I’m not just trying to learn off of an alphabet on RUclips, I’m using this to help with the learning-
I don't get it!!!!??? 😶 which one am I suppose to write / speak !!?!
Kantankakak or harigan!!? Or kimaji !? Asjkcklasje uhh I'm so confused 😕 😭😭😭
Japanese usually use all 4 (Katakana, Hiragana, Kanji, Romaji), so good luck!
Janthida Yang eee what is kanji!! And Romaji and harigana and katakana!?
kpop lover Katakana is English words translated into Japanese words (Ex.
Janthida Yang omg!!!!! Thanx 😍 I love u!!! Ur a good explainer 😉
kpop lover Thanks and you're welcome too.
Cool, I listened to it once and now I know everything.
Hiragana is used for most words or the Kanji is used, but for word token from other countries (not China) the Katakana would be used
I'm so confused...
The top row is Hiragana, the primary alphabet, the second row is Kantan Kana, the alphabet used for foreign words like mango
, banana, and most western names, and the final row is the pronunciation basically.
This is great way to learn and thank you this.
Yeet, time to learn Japanese
I learned english in 1 year in elementary school so now in high school i can do this right?
duolingo is god
i like duolingo, but when it comes to learning hiragama and katakana, pen and paper are the best way to learn
I don't know but I don't like the Japanese Course in Duolingo.
lol das what i use too for japanese
It's not that good for Japanese but for the rest yeah
Holy Crap that was ADORABLE!!!!
I never knew there was a song, but of course there would be.
cutest video I've seen all day~ ♥
