We had a beautiful Sunday afternoon so while we spent some time on the balcony, I did a taste test with the boys. We had bought a few interesting, fancy snacks yesterday. One of them was an insect treat that they have never tried before.
Moss will let you know if he missed getting a piece with just his facial expressions, he will eat Roy's turndowns and he can tell you all about your neighbors if you could speak cat. He are just so gorgeous!
I like how the boys clearly understood it was a tasting session, as they kept looking eagerly for the next sample...much like I do in the supermarket, when there's a sample taste table...really liked how they didn't fight or steal from each other's plates either... they're both good boys, and really do look like mini lions in their faces...🤔
I think they really enjoy these tasting sessions. I've done a few over the years and it's always a fun. They get ready on the table and waiting for the treats. Thank you 😊
Good day beautiful, Good boys don't eat bugs unless they're fresh.👌 Our Gracie Pooh Pooh Rad she only eats the fresh kind. If a fly gets in the house she won't rest until she jumps up in the air with her paws and catches it and eats it. I run around with the flyswatter telling her that's gross don't do that and I try to kill the fly before she does but she's successful every time. So I just let her do her thing. By the way your boys look gorgeous. I know I've said this before, but they are so beautiful you can't deny it. Have a beautiful blessed week.❤💕 Much love, Rennie
Yes, they prefer the bugs fresh after an exciting hunt! I'm scared of spiders so it's really convenient that I have two spider hunter in our home. I only wish that they could catch mosquitos too. 😅 Thank you, Have a lovely day! ❤
I absolutely adore Roy and Moss but I'm quite squeamish about bugs, so did find this a bit yeuck, but if the boys like them then who am I to judge😅 I love the way they eat though, so dainty and the little sniffs, real aristocats lol.
Very true! We always get compliments from people who had never met larger breeds before that Roy and Moss have so different personality than a short hair cat. Very gentle, curious, smart breeds. Thank you :-)
I heard that too much cricket can cause problems for mammals... can't recall the reason. But as they are treats I'm sure it will be fine. Just wanted to mention it FYI.
Only the last treat contained insects (30% insects + pumpkin, fats and minerals). And I'm sure they won't overdose on this snack because they weren't a huge fan. Moss ate it but it's not his favorite and Roy didn't even try it. 😊
Most pet supply stores here have a selection of cat/dog food that contain insects. I also saw hypoallergenic food made with insect protein. It's a good option for pets with food allergies. 😊
My 9 year old Maine Coon Kitten wheelchair buddy, had the same color and fur length as Roy and Moss. She got sick on the fourth of July weekend when our vets were on vacation and died a few days later with a tube in her from another vet. It about killed me and I'm still not over it! 😢 I got her as a tiny little thing. She slept in my bed with me every night. It is fun seeing these two and reminiscing! 😊
Yes, I know cats and dogs eat "weird" stuff ... and I have too (chocolate covered ants definitely weird but not particularly "bad" ... and shrimp / crayfish are wonderful when well cooked and heavily seasoned). But I'm kind of a hard pass on the concept myself except in survival mode. Seems like R&M liked everything; they even liked the "duck" this time around! (I thought they weren't enamored with Duck in a previous "trial.")
I wouldn't eat them either...only if I don't have other option and need to survive. But I assumed that the boys will like it...after all, they love catching and eating insects. 😅 Eventually, Roy didn't eat the insect treats but he loved the rest of the selection. They liked the duck because the treat contained fish too. :-)
@@RoyandMoss I'm with you and Roy on this one. Moss must be closer to the "survivalist-adventurer" mindset. Yep, the fish may have camouflaged the duck. I need to re-watch Roy's reaction to the insect treat (he might have left some on the plate, but I don't think he actually sniffed disdainfully at it)! Gotta love both Roy and Moss!! I very much like (most) fish: mahi mahi, tuna, salmon, halibut, trout, etc. Swordfish may be a favorite for me; it has a completely different (and pleasant) texture, a non-fishy flavor and "grills-up" almost like a good steak without actually being beef, pork or chicken!
I have seen similar reactions from my cats over the years to how the boys ate the first 2 dried fish treats. Obviously they like the smell/flavor of them, but I'm not sure if they are fans of the texture of those treats 🤔
I wish my kids liked treats or anything other than kibble. I wish they would eat wet. Food treats other things, but they are so picky. It's really hard to get food for them.
I'm not a nutritional expert but what I've learned over the years that lots of dry and wet food contains sugars, grains (corn, wheat, etc.) and other additives that are not necessary for cats but they can be addictive . Check the label on the kibble packaging. If you see these ingredients, that might be the reason why they don't want to eat anything else. In this case, you might try to change their dry food to grain free kibble and then you could introduce wet food slowly. Changing a diet for a cat is very hard even if they don't eat food with these addictive ingredients like my cats. When I want to introduce a new food, I need to do it very slowly. I mix a small amount with their old food for a few days. :-)
Insect with pumpkin, Roy? Roy, "It's a No from me." Another smart cat not buying into the WEF food policy. Seriously, where did you get the salmon treats from? Not seen them in our local Swiss Qualipet...❤❤❤
These guys are in the "fit-in" diet. If it fits in the mouth it must be food. Be prepared at some point to have to take the cat to the vet to have most of a balloon removed from the cat's butt. Been there; done that. About $100 because of the anesthetic, you know.
Bugs and pumpkins didn’t get a great response. I’d imagine that bugs taste better if you catch them after a good hunt-except for moths. My cat caught a moth, ate it in her moment of victory, and instantly regretted it. 😅 Anyway I’m happy to see more of the fluffy bois, as my daughter and I are traveling Germany this week and we miss our cat terribly.
Yeah, they definitely prefer the bugs fresh. 😅 Haha, I can imagine the disappointment when she ate that moth. I totally understand, I love traveling but I hate leaving my cats behind. Have a great trip in Germany!

It's great to wake up to a new video with our favorite Majesties! You're giving Roy and Moss treats, but you've given me a treat as well.
Glad you enjoyed it, Thank you! :-)
Most of the treats got an exellent rating. Roy is smart not liking the bugs, I agree there . Have a good Sunday ❤
The funny thing is that Roy loves catching and eating bugs.
Thank you! Have a beautiful week. ❤
Maybe he likes fresh bugs.😝
I love the fluffy forest cats❤

Grace ate a spider once and it bit her on the lip. She look like Mick Jagger for a couple of days, she stays away from them.🐈

Cats are so gentle, so sharing. Mainly long haired cats. Their personalities are quite different in general from short hairs. But they’re all lovely.

Highest votes go to the tuna slices, it would appear. Always preferable to bugs! 😅
