As far as UK campsites if you just use the smaller sites then they do tend to have just the minimum of facilities. Over the last few years when I did camp I used to use sites belonging to the Camping and Caravan Club, they generally are much better although might not suit you as they are more family oriented. I did however use a much larger tent than you, one you need to crawl into is no use to me and did tow a small trailer to allow for the extra gear. I now prefer to book a hotel instead of camping as the setting up and dismantling the tent etc was just too much work and the risk of having to do so in pouring rain no longer appeals.
@@MotoTripTVIt's why I now plan well ahead and can look for Hotels at reasonable prices, will occasionally stay in a more expensive one if I am in an area where choice is limited. Could probably go cheaper but prefer 3 star hotels with good reviews. At the age of 70 I like a bit of luxury after a days riding, roughed it enough when younger.

The Idea was to camp all the time to save money, and looking at the prices of the hotels we saw i am glad!
