I just discovered this a few minutes ago not having known anything of it previously, after randomly happening upon a video snippet of Taylor Swift surprising Mr. Dooley at Abbey Road Studios! The incredible pairing of Shaun's tenderly poignant vocal with this utterly gorgeous brass ensemble arrangement knocks me completely out! I have now bought the "Got It Covered" album!

Same, and here I am fully crying on the subway thinking about my dad who passed away almost 4 years ago. How I grew up and away from him and missing what we had when I was little.

I can't imagine someone listening and trying to sing this song without tearing up. It's just so emotional and it hits different strings as we experience this with our experience. It's such a slice of life. And I'm furious at how this song is so underrated.
A beautiful window into the soul of a child on the edge of growing up. Decent decent at singing too!!!! Beautiful, different vocal. I love the band too. This sent me over the edge remembering my late Father who was a cornet player all his life for Northumbria Police Band for years and years.
Anyone listening to this that has a child and didn't have a few tears in their eyes by the end of this song just isn't human.
Shaun, you are a very talented singer and actor and when I watched you on misfits singing, "The power of love." It was actually mind blowing not just for me but for thousands more who witnessed that beautiful scene. Please make it real and make a cover for, "The power of love."

tears, and heavy heart as remember great joy brought to my much loved kids. we always loved playing together in spare time, in playgrounds, swimming pools, playing hide n seek, da fae long on scooters, roller blades, terminating cockroaches (YUK!) they loved it so much, they grown up now, 13 & 14! l haven't! well a little! everything moves on, don't dwell on past, live in present, as this will be surely looked back fondly and sentimentally :)

I love this so so so much! I like it better than Taylor singing it. Such a lovely song and as a mother with two 23-year-olds I so relate to it. They DO grow up and you miss those little people so much. There is nothing like those years when they need you and are innocent and sweet. I listen to this version all the time now and it always gives me chills.

He isn't a singer as such. They did the album for Children in need charity. He was actually singing it to his own children. He wasn't trying to upstage Taylor Swift it's a song that means a lot to him
