    It's the same offense since Roberts took over, nothing has changed. Roberts is a player's coach, Dodgers won in 2020 in a short season, three aces Buehler Kershaw Urias, on base batters like Seager Turner, Joc and Mookie show up in the postseason all this in spite of Roberts. Call me dramatic but I want this season to fail and no longer see Roberts coaching this team.

    Bottom of the line up needs to be more patient at the plate. They are not home run hitters. It’s okay to swing and miss after 10 pitches. Next batter will benefit from that. It’s team effort to win the game!

    Dodgers have lost 5 of their last 7 games against very mediocre teams on their own home turf. Not good….for those who say ‘it’s still early’….I would respond that’s why they should just bring more youngsters up like Knack and Pages. They could not do any worse than the other starters.

      Yes there are comments saying this is one game, in reality things have to change when ohtani singled there late in the game with 0 outs I thought Freddy would consider bunting. Dodgers need to look at different approaches play small ball from time to time to get out of slumps. And Dave has a good team he needs to take risks even with injuries in the subconscious you have to leave pitchers in there a little longer and mix it up in the offense with the bats . Dodgers are deep with starters you have to trust the process . Pitchers are gonna get injured noatter what so start using to take advantage when they are available

    • @hilocatman
      @hilocatman Месяц назад +6

      Exactly…there are times when they need to shorten up and make contact. Unfortunately it seems to be the LA philosophy or possibly the hitting coaches philosophy to win the game with one stroke. Two winnable games…one by a single run and the other by a 2-0 loss. Seems like a lot of folks trying to launch the ball to Pasadena when one run can tie or win the game.

He doesn't seem to have much of a clue how to hit though. It's like Lux is pressing so much he's gripping the bat too tight , and the ball does not jump off his bat at all. He's got no pop whatsoever. When you are hitting.150 and can't even get the bat off your shoulder for a called strike 3 late in the game something has got to give. that can't be happening.

      You’re sort of on the right track with the batting order but why would you pay your DH 700 million to just get on base. He’s paid to drive in runs.
      The best Dodger hitters should bat 3-5. It’s that plain and simple. Traditionally, this has been done with like Reggie Smith, Steve Garvey, and Ron Cey.
      The Dodgers won the WS in 1981 with Pedro Guerrero batting 6th I believe. Dusty Baker batted 6th also.
      Dodgers continue to not steal bases consistently. Lux coming back was supposed to bring back the dimension of speed on the base path.
      This whole concept of giving your best hitters the most at bats has never worked in post season. Doesn’t even work for the Braves. It’s not even working for the Dodgers now in the regular season.
      The crazy part is look at how hot Mookie is and Ohtani is still way over .300. All 3 are not doing well with runners in scoring position.
      Folks need to make up their minds. Is it the job of the top 3 hitters to get on base or to score runs. The mental aspects for the hitters is tough.
      Roberts is doing a horrible job. He can’t identify the issue. He thinks it’s just the bottom of the line up. Absolutely refuses to change the batting order too. Most folks still insist on the best hitters up top too.

    I don't know what it is with this team, they talent is there. We know the hitting is not there at the bottom of the lineup and really the middle of the line up too, the bullpen and starting rotation have their issues as well. Hopefully it gets figured out soon because Mookie and Ohtani can't go on into every game as the only consistent hitters, they need help! It's still early in the season and all teams go through slumps, However, there seems to be a lack of fire on the roster, someone on a post here mentioned no swagger or passion from the players and I agree they just do not show a lot of emotion and fire. Yes, you see the high fives in the dugout, etc... It's not the same as you see in some of the other teams. Maybe that is a reflection from the leadership or coaches and manager, when you watch them, they too show very little fire, energy or emotion? They need some players with some Mojo, arrogance, swagger and passion!!! Maybe we need Puig back...😆At least he played with a lot of energy and passion! Stop being the nice, squeaky-clean team, get dirty and go out and kick A**! Go Dodgers!

The big reason was they had more homegrown stars and the right FA pickups not a bunch of guys from other franchises with no desire to win in LA, also this current batch of homegrown players are busts more proof that Coletti was better at drafting than Friedman

    Wouldn't it be great to have some contact guys who run like the wind? Speed never slumps and speed can change the tempo of games and put pressure on the defense. Waiting for 3 run homers is frustrating to watch, especially when they don't come. Why don't the Dodgers get guys like Abrams or De la Cruz or Winn or Acuna? Remember when Koufax would win 1 to nothing. Wills would walk, steal second, be bunted to 3rd and infield out would score. This Dodger team is good but wouldn't be great if they could manufacture runs and play small ball. Get some plus plus speed guys to sprinkle in. Fast guys create havoc, so much fun to watch.. It's great when the boys wake up with a horseshoe in their ass but having 4 to 6 guys always going 3 for 35 or something, well. Maybe we should buy some horseshoes and lube for the boys.

    It’s the batting order. I keep saying it over and over and nobody listens.
    I said it during preseason. Think as an opposing pitcher.
    If I have to face Lux and Pages at the top of the line up and allow them to reach base, I’m in big trouble. Plus I have to worry about them stealing bases. Certainly can’t walk them.
    Now I have the Big 3. Plus Smith, Teoscar and Smith.
    The bottom of the line up is still for guys with high strike out rate but power. A pitcher can’t relax because one swing may do it. Outman’s role plus Heyward when he returns.
    If the Dodgers don’t have the right personnel then get the guy. The guy is a speedster who can be at the top of the line up.
    It’s that plain and simple. This is the championship formula. Guys need to get used to their roles.
    Lasorda even asked Steve Garvey to just hit for more power and home runs. I don’t care if your batting average drops from .321 to .290 so long as your home runs go from low 20’s to high 30’s.
    Ohtani should bat lower in the line up. 4th or 5th. His focus is to drive in runs not get on base. I would separate Freeman and Ohtani and put Teoscar or Smith in between.

    TBH, none of this matters if they get to the WS (even if by wildcard) and win a 'proper' trophy in the Fall. I'd rather have all this underachieving in April than in October - BUT - I already feel like we're headed in the same direction as all the other years in the decade: Media hyping individual stats, promises of young players who are 'supposedly' gonna be superstars (i.e. Lux, Outman, Vargas, Miller, Sheehan, etc..) Last true superstar from our system was MVP in the WS for Texas last time I checked. If they flop again in October, how do you justify Roberts and Friedman keeping their jobs, while lesser money endowed teams are winning 'as a team' like the D-Backs.
    I feel like the Dodgers have become the 90's Braves - great in the regular season to sellout stadiums and merchandise, but no answers come Fall... We spent a billion on 3 guys, whilst our best lefty in the bullpen is Vesia...

    Can we get a catcher who can throw out a base runner 🏃‍♂️ 👀 🤔 if Will Smith wants to be a Catcher, he must throw out runners at a decent clip 🤔

    • @myuhara1
      @myuhara1 Месяц назад +3

      If Will Smith cannot throw out runners at second base, we just need to out-run the opponent and steal more. Ohtani’s max sprint speed is 28.2 ft/sec, faster than Mookie of 29.6. Have Ohtani steal more bases, which should energize the team !

    It’s concerning that the pitching can give up 2 runs and Dodgers can’t win with that offense. It’s concerning that when the offense puts up 7 runs, they still lose or go to extras. Yikes. Not a good start.

    Here we go again, same ol Dodgers lack of clutch hitting and inability to make smart decisions at the plate when trailing. You're trailing by 2 and leadoff Muncy is up and gets ahead 2-0 in the count. His goal should be to get on base so in sheer idioticy, he swings and grounds out. Dumb! Tired of Freeman no offense and did you really think Pages was some savior? Give me a break.

    First things first, stop playing Chris Taylor...the guys an automatic out! Second, bring up the kids and let them get some experience now instead of later in the season. Last, stop swinging for the fence! Their hitting with RISP is horrible because they're all trying to hit the jack! This just goes to show you can't win with offense alone, let alone when the pitching sucks especially out of the bullpen.
