I was a kandi kid of the late 90s and early 2000s. That's what I don't get about raves and clubs today. Like back in the day, we showed up to fucking dance. Now they show up to nutswing on DJs and treat raves like they're a concert. I do my best to try and guide the younger club kids and candy ravers, but it's hard to get the message across as it's just a different time. Back then, we showed up at 9 or 10 and stayed until the sunrise. Shit, most of the raves would give you a free breakfast if you helped pack up in the morning.
In festivals you dance like this because you are high on drugs and feel the music in another level, you truly feel conected to the whole universe in that very precise moment, she doesn't have to demonstrate anything to anyone... just enjoy.

In my experience even when nightclubs or music venues have vibes that encourage people to "dance well," there's usually so little space in the crowds that you can't really do more than headbang or bop your shoulders. Went to a fantastic silent disco in Belgium once and it surprisingly wasn't packed to the brim, even though it was in an old cellar and rather small. When I got really into the music and started busting a few moves, people started looking at me and joining in, and there were a few groups doing fun little jigs to local-ish folk music, all with such a positive excitement. What a sight to behold and an atmosphere to feel!!! That's how it should be. I've yet to see that kind of space and energy in the UK. And if I'd have been "on something" I'm sure I'd have only felt anxious that it wasn't the welcoming vibe I needed.

The things that people take at Aussie festivals are really bad... and ruins the vibe because they’re all m3thd up basically (whether they know it or not) so I love travelling for a festival now.. North America everyone tends to be a lot more happy and there for the same reason (even if they’re cheesy as hell with their early 00s rave gear on and talking about ‘EDM’ and shit 😂) so once Covid is over.. Every time I watch this video I start crying and I find myself coming back to it again and again. I think I just want to be as free as this free soul is, just letting go of all thoughts and fears, and letting my body move to the music, connecting to the vibration of the festival and the people around me. She looks so light and fearsless. I love it.

I remember being at a climbing festival and there was a stage, not even that small, and two dudes played some electronic music. They tried really hard but the crowd were all geeks. Despite the fact that climbers have the reputation to be cool. I took two of my buddies and we started dancing in front of the stage like no one else was watching 😂 After 10 minutes we took a look around and now everybody was moving and smiled 😁

I remember being at a climbing festival and there was a stage, not even that small, and two dudes played some electronic music. They tried really hard but the crowd were all geeks. Despite the fact that climbers have the reputation to be cool. I took two of my buddies and we started dancing in front of the stage like no one else was watching 😂 After 10 minutes we took a look around and now everybody was moving and smiled 😁
