Dreamcatcher is a product of its time; they debuted during a time in Kpop when vocal ability and vocal stability was a standard. I've noticed a shift away from that, it started in the third generation and has picked up speed since then. The focus has moved more towards visuals and performance. That's not to say that there aren't still vocally talented Idols out there in recent generations-Hwiseo is evidence of that. But with studio edits and lip syncing abound, it's hard to hear what and Idol ACTUALLY sounds like live. Within her own group, Sua is considered a sub vocalist. But I think that really says something about the quality of the group as a whole when the sub vocalist would be a main if they were placed within another group. Almost all of them would be. I also had an emotional response to this cover-it just hits different when it's in your own language. It's easier to tie emotional connections to the words when you can understand them.

DAY6's YoungK wrote lyrics for 3 h1-key songs too :DD the first song they both worked on, Rose Blossom, went super viral in Korea for its sweet, hopeful message and strong melody. their live performance skills are amazing. love their three latest title tracks, and if i may recommend some b-sides 👀"Magical Dream", "Low-key scared but H1-KEY ready", "Dream Trip", "Crown Jewel" (collab with Tachaya), "Danger" (ost for dorama Family), "Iconic". Hwiseo (who is their main vocalist) was the winner (ranked 1st) of Queendom Puzzle, a show where girl group members + soloists competed to be a part of a project group together. she was also high-key (lol) the protagonist of the show. Riina, another member, also participated there and had a lot of memorable performances.
I still wanna check out more H1-KEY at some point but I know Hwiseo is great from when she was on Queendom Puzzle.
