Oh wow. I would be in HEAVEN. To eat an apple right off the tree? I'm slightly addicted to apples. I eat at least one a day. Great video. Thanks, Nicko! :)
I love local produce. Here in upstate New York, we too have a nice local apple farming culture. During the end of summer and autumn seasons, we swim in apple products around here and sometimes see apple-related community events. It's nice to have communities united by what comes from the local regions. There's great satisfaction in buying food from your own region. It's also nice to see family-owned and operated businesses, like this one here with Newton Orchards. Nice video, Nicko!
Rob! Lovely video. So much of what you're producing is done on the flip side in my region of Northern California. Eating locally is such a big step and easy to do. Better, fresher and lest costly almost always. The United States is now importing apple's from China. Though mostly used for juice, it really ridiculous.
I'm in NYC and there's a peach farm 30 min away from me, and it's the sweetest peaches I have ever tasted. I canned all of the 30 lbs I picked so I can have local in season peaches all year round.
Good video! Doctors in that town must not be very busy. I bet they have an amazing family recipe for apple sauce! All the apple sauce and food in Murica is full of corn syrup/corn and gmo!
Harvey is an amazing and innovative man, and his orchard has the best fruit. Try the apricots when they are in season and you'll think you are in heaven...
Wow. I've never really thought about how farmers sell their apples... and we're only receiving 5% of the produce internationally? Newton Orchards must be doing really well. Thank you for sharing this video with us! (My favourite apple is the Granny Smith. Doesn't get better than that.)
Well hows about them apples : ) So grateful I have some apples in the house after watching this it makes me crave apples. Interesting video Nicko love seeing how companies work. I've eaten one of those stickers before *hangs head in shame* LOL
Thanks Tam :) haha I think everyone has at some stage. We had the apples straight off the tree, so good! And the Greenstar apple which they grow as well is similar to the Granny Smith, but they don't brown for hours and hours even after you cut them
Fascinating stuff Rob, I love this series. Makes me want to visit Perth. I worked on an Apple orchard in France some years back, happy days and seeing that brings back some fun memories. Thanks Steve
Nice orchard....wish I could have the same here in west Africa sierra Leone. I will seize the whole African apple market which is a big market you know
In my youth I was once given a large yellow, tree ripened Granny Smith apple !! The taste could never to be forgotten...beautiful indeed. I would pay $10.00 a kg, in advance, pl;us postage for a carton of such apples to be delivered to my home. Peter Harris.
