Cyclekart Build Day 1: GN GNAT

- Day 1 of my cyclekart build. The kart is modeled after a GN special known as GNAT. The build is kind of unique in that I'm using a bolt together sheet metal frame and front engine - same as GNAT. Keep watching and we'll see how it turns out.
I’m very impressed. I have never seen a CycleKart chassis go together so quickly or smoothly. Looks like a great build and what an inspiration car!!! I love it
Thanks...let's see how long it takes me to actually get it running! BTW...I'm a big fan of your karts and vids...keep up the nice work
@@tremortech Thank you, that means a lot
Finally a front engine cyclekart !
Very interesting ! Not that easy to place the legs and the engine, all behind the front axle.
I'm also interested in the CAD views.
Jesus!
What Neighbor Wouldn't Love Listening To That Dog 24/7
Think they sell a dog speaker that repels and the nice part, we can't hear it.👍😉
Mantap bang... saya juga lgi bikin mini buggy...🙏😁😁👍😊
I know this is 2 years old but having just come across the vid, was interested in your build and especially the front suspension as I have been designing a similar layout but having difficulty in determining what size of spring to use and would be interested to hear what the dimensions you have used and are you satisfied with the result?
Impressed by the fit of the bolt together parts too, great job designing that.
Fascinating build. Would be interesting to see your CAD model too.
there will be a video...promise!
That would be cool if you offered a frame kit !
I'm not building a cyclekart but I sure am curious to exactly how that from engine system works,I'm gonna build a mini 70s Winnebago for me and my wife and the grandbabies
Where did the differential came from man? Nice build buy the way!
Thanks! The diff is really just a right angle gearbox...it came out of a Polaris ATV. I'll post a more detailed video later.
I am very interested in how the front suspension is set up. Any chance you could put out a video on it?
Definitely!
Hi, really enjoyed the video and the series looks interesting. I am curious as to the frame components; did you drill all the various holes on the frame rails and other components ?
The frame parts were cut on our laser then bent on our brake at work...I'm lucky to have access to those toys
@@tremortech indeed that would make things allot easier as long as you know how to use those toys of course
Right on!
Love the music
The geerbix you got; Look for a 90° box. Try to the avoid spindle 90s
Drive shaft a solid waitbar pipe over it
For length and comfort. The 90° transfer to the drive shaft and transfer case
Also one might use a centrifugal clutch and transition to a stationary drive shaft very careful about stationary drive shaft possible with lateral or horizontal engine output chain driven only to the drive shaft from the centrifugal clutch
What's a waitbar?
I recently learned about this from Casey Putch and I'd like to try this. My only concern is cost as well as rules for what is and isn't allowed.
If you haven't already, check out www.cyclekartclub.com/. Cost is really up to you and your resourcefulness.
When the front didn't line up, I didn't see you measure sides and corner to corner to check alignment.
I am interested in building one, what is the width of your rear axle?
The Gnat still runs at the oldest race track in the world just down the road from me.
I have seen it run several times.
Lucky! I'd love t check it out someday...
I have been looking for the wheels and hubs. Where do you get them
I got mine at a local motorcycle junk yard
A bit disappointed you didn't follow the build on video. There are plenty of conventional builds that someone can follow, but yours is so unique using a front engine and driveshaft that it deserves a lot more detail. In addition, your front suspension and steering setup are different from what is normally used on cyclekarts and worthy of much more detail.
There will be more videos where I discuss the front suspension/steering and drive...stay tuned and subscribe!
@@tremortech Subscribed!
Is that a kit? Because I see your bolted it together
Everything was designed by me...I'll go into details on a later video.
Where can I buy the kit and what price are they? Cheers
Sorry, it isn't available as a kit
@@tremortech Thanks mate for replying
Where do all these parts come from? Is this a kit or what?
Some parts are available in kit form, go to azusaparts.com/ or cyclekart.net/. The bulk of my parts though are custom
@@tremortech Thank you Colin, I'll check it out. 👍🏻
If the frame is out of square that could cause the holes in misalign
What kinda dog? My guess is some kind of lab possibly
You got it!
Where do I find the 2to1differential
Look up Polaris differential on eBay
Do you live in Fresno?
Possibly
I saw the Bullard Talent and Central Unified signs in the background. I am getting interested in cyclekarts and once lived in Fresno. I visit on occasion but I live in Sweden now. Not too many in the sport here.@@tremortech
The dog was translating the build to other dogs.
So,e adjustment required. Normal.
This guy is holding an invisible beer
Cheers!
Can’t handle the barking dogs😖
Unwatchable due to noise / music.
THE DOG!!!!
