He said to me : "He is very good". A memory for life.
Those are some memories to cherish. And RIP to another legend, Namphon. He suffered such a bad car accident while he was still at the top of his game. Had to retire at age 25 or 26 I believe.

Its baffling to me how boxing (a beautiful sport) is SOOO much bigger than Kickboxing or Muay Thai. Obviously a more complete martial art because of less rules & restrictions. It seems to me this would equal or exceed the hype and popularity of Boxing. Again I LOVE boxing, its a beautiful martial art, but I think most ppl understand where I'm coming from. A sport as action-packed, exciting, & skillful as KB or may thai is, you would think it a natural magnet for promoters, corporations, & fans alike I guess the legacy and amazing storied history of Boxing gives it a leg up. In time and with the way things are going, with the rise of martial arts popularity and viewership across the board going up, I believe in 25 years or less kick boxing & may thai superstars will be household names along the same lines as Tyson Fury, Conor Mcgregor, Canelo & Floyd Mayweather
Look at the faces of Coban's team, they were pretty concerned about their fighter. Ramon learned with the pass of time that he had to be more aggressive and look for a knock out, but guess what, is not easy to know out Muay Thai fighters not even with coconuts thrown at their skull, so if you see how Ramon changed his combos with time, at first they were 2 super hard punches with all his strength, then 4-5, sometimes really crazy elbows to let your skull like a piggy bank. He never give up, just evolved in machine of super hard never ending kicks and punches that some Muay Thai fighters couldn't deal with. At that point he started to make a lot of knock outs. But it was just not normal. People think that UFC fights are the best because all what incorporates. But for people who don't know much, try watching Buakaw, or any classic Muay Thai fighter, and you'll see 20 minutes of a fight that seems more of a fight for your life. Ramon had that hunger, never broke a leg, and if you see Ramon Dekkers Highlights video you can see that he never stopped a kick because it could be blocked with a knee or something. He was on to crash against it or wherever is left of you. Love his fights and I wish he was still alive, never had the chance to travel and pay my respect as many did. 😢

Its baffling to me how boxing (a beautiful sport) is SOOO much bigger than Kickboxing or Muay Thai.
Obviously a more complete martial art because of less rules & restrictions.
It seems to me this would equal or exceed the hype and popularity of Boxing. Again I LOVE boxing, its a beautiful martial art, but I think most ppl understand where I'm coming from.
A sport as action-packed, exciting, & skillful as KB or may thai is, you would think it a natural magnet for promoters, corporations, & fans alike
I guess the legacy and amazing storied history of Boxing gives it a leg up. Look at the faces of Coban's team, they were pretty concerned about their fighter. Ramon learned with the pass of time that he had to be more aggressive and look for a knock out, but guess what, is not easy to know out Muay Thai fighters not even with coconuts thrown at their skull, so if you see how Ramon changed his combos with time, at first they were 2 super hard punches with all his strength, then 4-5, sometimes really crazy elbows to let your skull like a piggy bank. He never give up, just evolved in machine of super hard never ending kicks and punches that some Muay Thai fighters couldn't deal with. At that point he started to make a lot of knock outs. But it was just not normal. People think that UFC fights are the best because all what incorporates. But for people who don't know much, try watching Buakaw, or any classic Muay Thai fighter, and you'll see 20 minutes of a fight that seems more of a fight for your life. Ramon had that hunger, never broke a leg, and if you see Ramon Dekkers Highlights video you can see that he never stopped a kick because it could be blocked with a knee or something. He was on to crash against it or wherever is left of you. Love his fights and I wish he was still alive, never had the chance to travel and pay my respect as many did. 😢
