The only one of the SoundCloud rappers anywhere near Em is Lil Pump. Not at all lyrically, but for bringing humor, charisma, and a real story to tell back to hip hop when everyone started getting too boring bc they took themselves too seriously. i fear the day when people like 69 are considered rappers compared to this legend.
The only one of the SoundCloud rappers anywhere near Em is Lil Pump. Not at all lyrically, but for bringing humor, charisma, and a real story to tell back to hip hop when everyone started getting too boring bc they took themselves too seriously. Although Em is in a different stratosphere lyrically, Pump was just as impactful in 2017 for me as Em was in 2000-2002. But the only rappers to be truly compared to Em are: Jay-Z, KanYe, Biggie, 2Pac, Nas, and maybe Andre and Kendrick Lamar. The rest can be picked apart too easily for me. However, I feel that there are rappers who have aspects that if they were less one dimensional, they would be the greatest. For example, Ludacris for his rhyme scheme and flow ability, and A$AP Rocky / Schoolboy Q in terms of artistic style, but all of them lack focus / intentionality for being truly great and can be put into a box far too easily.
